We did IC Jimbaran with family last year after seeing your review which was so well and honest that again planning where to go and how based on your videos. Most likely Bali again in Feb as nice and quit. COMO for sure on list to stay in Ubud. Travel safe Kevin and all the best from Sweden!
1000% agree with your "INCREDIBLE Breakfast" assessment of this resort. I've been there twice and breakfast seems to be even better the 2nd time around, when the first time was already unbelievably great.
I really, REALLY want to go and visit the Andaz Bali right now. Thanks for spoiling me, Kevin. 😅 And I also really like your commentary. It’s funny - but on the point. 👌🏻
Hi Kevin, I have to say I really enjoy your videos & content, a joy to watch, your voice is made for voice overs. You give great & honest reviews, I like that, Thank you, Alexis :)
Brilliant. The smaller boutique resorts on Bali, like Tanjung Sari are the best. Often with private beaches which is a must so you don't get heckled every 10 seconds. My favourite aspect is the jungle meets open areas meets chalet blending. I feel really sorry for people with peanut allergy because I can eat chicken satay until I fall over.
Very impressive. This is a resort that I think is actually worth the money that you paid. I don't have that reaction to resort prices very often. Thanks for the vid. This resort is now at the top of my list of places to visit ASAP. :)
What a beautiful tasteful resort, love the style…very tranquil. Somehow like it better than in your first review. And the breakfast….WOW! Thank you for this beautiful video 🤩🙏🏼✨
@@tfftdid you try breakfast in hyatt centric jumeirah? It’s a only a la carte selection no buffet at all. And every dish they make looks like Instagram and also tastes like that :)
Great video (as usual). We just stayed two weeks in Bali with 4 nights at The Pavilions, Sanur, 5 nights at Uma Kalai in Ubud (absolutely amazing) and 5 nights at The Candidasa Resort. Would highly recommend all three but Uma Kalai is the standout. Book the pool view room or paddy fields view. Small point, In your breakfast rating you have Caravelle Saigon twice (61 & 89). Keep up the great work!
I love the focus on food. It’s something important to me when I book a holiday. Would you say that score for breakfast is broadly indicative of what the overall score for food would be? I’ve just booked SALA Phuket and I’m a bit nervous as it’s the first time I’ve done luxury that isn’t a Four Seasons but it has such good reviews across the board (not just yours). I would have booked the COMO, but they wanted an extra GBP2000 to make the reservation refundable, which is dumb.
I was hoping if you ever went back you would review the 2-bedroom beach villa at Andaz, it looks amazing! The pools in the garden villas are a little disappointing. Food looks great, will visit later this year and stop by.
@@tfftI get that, I found your channel about 2 months ago and I think I already finished all of the hotel videos (jk not quite) now want more hotel reviews
I've stayed in all of the Bali Hyatts.. but I personally greatly prefer the Breakfast at the Alila Villas to Andaz Bali (Granted, I stayed there on December 31 2022, when it was crazy busy, so we didn't have the best experience).
Great video. Yes it's normal unfortunately for rentals to cram pools between walls and house but that doesn't make it less claustrophobic but sadly most houses that they call "villas" in southern Bali don't have a garden...in Andaz they could at least paint the ugly wall nicely... it's an Instant turnoff for me but most people don't care
Awesome information about the hotel. However the background of the classical Indian music is a bit confusing thinking you were in India instead of playing the Balinese gamelan music to match the island mood :). No biggies I still am loving it! Appreciate for the video very much.
Thanks very much but there were no Indian tracks in this video- all from my Balinese track collection (or generic tracks). Often, Balinese music can sound similar to some genres of music from India since it is a Hindu island.
Love the video! Well done. Quick question tho - is it fair to call something the best breakfast in bali if you haven't been to all the resorts? Andaz looks great but still a mid tier resort relatively on that island I wonder how places like como shambala, alila uluwatu, ritz, four seasons etc would stack up (breakfast and in general)
You are correct, it's very mid tier on the island- but Breakfast is one aspect of luxury resorts that doesn't always live up to it's reputation, so yes I think it is. I've been to over 20 resorts on the island of all sizes and price points. The ultra lux resorts are not large enough to have a buffet that would "out wow" the Andaz (and frankly, the buffets I have seen at the higher end large resorts are surprisingly lacking...) and the smaller lux boutique resorts (COMOs, for example) that may have an a la carte menu of the same caliber as Andaz don't offer the same extensive selection. Plus, the scale at which the Andaz does it does give them extra points in my book. Executing this menu at a 40 room property is one thing, but at a 200 room property with 300 people sitting down at the same time... and executing it really well, yes- I cannot imagine another breakfast on the island being better, as a full package.
Gotcha that's fair. I have an itinerary of como shambala, alila uluwatu, and langham jakarta coming up in Sept. Have you reviewed any of these? Expecting great things from all
I’ve stayed at Alila Uluwatu, Ritz, St Regis, Intercontinental. All of them are good but I’d describe tham as ‘typical’ high-end hotel breakfast experience (for Bali standard, at least). In my multiple visits to Andaz, the breakfast is always a highlight of our stay. I think being a mid-tier resor is actually a contributing factor in why they can pull it off, since they’re not subject to running an operation at a scale like Apurva. I took my Indo family there and all of them were impressed with the breakfast.
How much of a bigger lift are the hotel videos than the flights? I think you mentioned it on patreon or another video once, but I can’t remember what you said
Kevin if you can remember where were the guests from mainly? As an Aussie i avoid Bali because it seems like you have't left the country because of the number of Australians in Bali. However i did find certain resorts had almost no Australians { Ritz Carlton} and i was just wondering if you could pick up on where the guest at Andaz were mainly from? im Hoping elsewhere as the resort seems great. Thanks
I find Hyatt properties in Bali to be very "light" on Aussies and heavy on Americans simply becuase Hyatt has a relatively small footprint in Australia. Accor properties, I find the exact opposite to be true. IHGs have a fair bit of Europeans and Americans. Marriot and Hilton properties can be hit or miss simply bc they're everywhere, but generally I've seen more Aussies in and around Seminyak, Ubud and Kuta.
Hi Kevin! I hope you get to try and review the Philippines' boutique airlines like AirSwift or Sunlight Air - although their fleet are usually ATRs. But they fly to our local beach destinations with high-end hotels in Coron, Caticlan (Boracay), Siargao, etc., which I think you'll enjoy. Cheers!
Deciding between Andaz Bali base room or Hyatt Regency Bali Suite Room for less points (2 nights). Any insights? 😄 We are leaving next week, thanks Kevin!
If you’ll have club access, go for Hyatt… just make sure to have Breakfast at Andaz once lol. The Hyatt Regency over delivers more than any other Hyatt property I’ve been to.

I’ve been to both and agree they are very different. Andaz Bali is like a serene hideaway in an otherwise busy area. However, this means you also have easy access to local eateries and other areas in central Bali. Alila Uluwatu is much more secluded and ‘exclusive’. You’re more likely to come across celebrity and influencers than in Andaz. Both are very good in their own way and service is pretty low touch in my experience. Also, Alila is a popular wedding venue, so I suggest avoid weekends as noise from these parties can be quite loud, and not much noise insulation - nor regulation - there.

No, for two reasons lol. First, I was discoverist during this stay and second, I had a villa with breakfast included rate- so there's not too much that globalist would have given me with that particular rate.
