So this is where the returns for hex will come from. Plus the value of the coin on top of that! It could be nothing it could be decent. Who knows. Nobody can see what hes investing it in which is the problem with this. Btc was designed to be 10 million$ per coin also which is a straight quote from Hal Finney in an email to Satoshi. HEX is programmable money; its smart contract architecture can create a myriad of new high tech and fintech businesses. Richard is an expert marketer. For me HEX is a great community project with tremendous capacity for doing good things in this world of ours. We haven't even scratched the surface of its potential. Good luck with it Richard. On the other hand, scams DO have better user on-boarding than most legitimate projects in the crypto space, so if you use some of the same marketing strategies but don't mislead or steal from anyone, it may help the project grow. Time will tell if HEX will turn into anything or not. Still, it doesn't hurt anyone to claim or earn what you can for free and see where it all ends up in a year or two.

Because Richard is a semi-public figure, partially dox'd actor in the space, he is neither fully anon, nor fully accountable- which makes it possible for him to simultaneously exhibit the traits of both. He can joke to say things like "trust me, I'm lying" and his audience will laugh with him- because it is easier to laugh than to uncover actual malice. While this great for marketing, it is problematic for PR: 2. >$4M in ETH are now in the custody of the $HEX project. So doesn't Richard hold the keys? Richard does not want to disclose exactly *who* is the administrative custodian, and subtly redirects the locus of accountability by saying "if anyone owns the keys". With respect, as a very public project, custody is the one area in which code is NOT law: human trust is is the governing principle. So Richard's reluctance to answer this question begs two more direct questions: Does a trusted separate party control the keys? May the public please know who they are? (or, a free suggestion: Why not make it a multi-sig wallet/fund, and use a public board of directors with a minimum quorum requirement that makes it difficult for a single nation state or actor to squeeze them?) 3. "Sociopath or criminal"? I think Peter threw this out with no plan whatsoever for it's target or impact, so here's my best effort at making something of it: With all respect, it is obvious that Richard is intelligent enough not only to be skilled at debate, but also to be a skilled manipulator, which is a trait of sociopaths and psychopaths alike. With regards to Richard being "semi-public": in protecting his attack surface he also decreases the possibility of 3rd parties being able to vouch for his good deeds and character, as based on past experience. Not trade calls. Not market performance. Not "being right". *Good old fashioned trust.* And this leads many to wonder, "Who will be the person who remains accountable for the custody of all ETH when/if things go wrong?" Trustlessness is a feature than BTC purchases at a high price. New tokens require the old world trust model, which is cheap and easily broken. ... writing this has made me all the more eager to interview you about that book, BTW. We never did get anywhere with that conversation. And I would really like to.

With all respect, it is obvious that Richard is intelligent enough not only to be skilled at debate, but also to be a skilled manipulator, which is a trait of sociopaths and psychopaths alike.
However, one is born, and the other is trained. In either case, high intelligence seems to be a co-morbidity.
But many high power individuals rank highly on the sociopathy/psychopathy scale, and they don't always turn out to be bad faith actors.
I've taken to using the term as a compliment. I'd far rather see more benevolent socipaths in the world than *criminally incompetent* serial bumblers (as we see often in government).
I've encountered at least a few high functioning sociopaths within the cryptosphere, and a couple of them actually *are* capable of near criminal manipulation.
Some of them are serial astro-turfers/whitewashers, with limited public record to dox- so it's difficult to discover their backgrounds, or see what anyone has charged them with, legally.
Quite often, the complaints Richard mentions in this video are not as public or as common as you might believe.
Heck, a large percentage of people who are killed in house fires at night actually hear the alarm go off, look at the clock, then fall back asleep!
So, again, it's not immediately apparent that anyone cries foul in failed crypto projects as often as Richard states in this video.
With regards to Richard being "semi-public": in protecting his attack surface he also decreases the possibility of 3rd parties being able to vouch for his good deeds and character, as based on past experience.
Not trade calls. Not market performance. Not "being right".

And this leads many to wonder, "Who will be the person who remains accountable for the custody of all ETH when/if things go wrong?"
