Pink diamond on the bottom is for localizer: horizontal guidance.
Pink diamond on the right is for glideslope: vertical guidance.
All of them guide you to the runway.
They both blink pink when you activate both autopilot (cmd a & cmd b) for a landing. On a cat 3 ils runway, this will take you all the way down to the runway and land the plane for you. You just take control after touchdown to apply reversers and exit runway after hitting taxi speed. Thats what you did. Only mistake is that the runway you were landing on was not cat3 ils. Must have been cat1 ils. It only support guidance to 200ft then you must turn off autopilot at 200ft or above and land the plane yourself.
Cat2 ils supports guidance to 50ft. Same scenario for pilot at 50ft or above.
Cat3 ils supports guidance to 0ft. Flares and auto-lands the plane. You take control after touchdown as mentionned above.

Gray stuff! Some notes for your next video: the “pink diamonds” indicate the the horizontal and vertical deviation during the glide slope. Once the plane is locked, they remain cantered all the way down to the threshold of the runway. Also, once you set the FMC up for the approach, the FMC uses the flap position to reduce speed to the set values. There are pink bugs on the speed tape to show that as well. Cheers.

@@usmarine7 well thank you for this. Too many of these tutorials become an exercise in the presenters showing off knowledge of the systems and they talk far too much about peripheral matters. What most beginners need is just what you provide here. Something simple and very focused to get started.

PS - Your reserve fuel amount is the FINRES amount, not the EXTRA ( perhaps they can be added together for a reserve amount, Ive forgotten)

The reason GLRIA isn’t in there is because it is a holding fix. The only way you’re supposed to get vectored to that fix is usually if there is no radar coverage. In that case you do a 1 min hold to defend to 3,000 feet (from the approach plate). Normally you’d get a vector to the localizer cause you have radar coverage.
The green bow on the MFD is the point in space where you will reach the altitude you have set to stop on on the mode control panel.
A very good video than any others. I did the same thing and at the same times doing the settings same as you. But I had a problem when just taking off, because the speed dropped and I had to pull the York to keep it going and after pressing the AP button everything was OK. Then at GLRIA my speed dropped to 150 although FMC setup was 195. But landed perfectly.
Thanks for making this video with only the showing the necessary steps - others are too fast or too slow and talking too much with un-necessary things.

Hi usmarine7. Thanks for the your informative tutorial video especially how to program the FMC is extremely good. You weren't sure what the two pink diamonds meant, I think when both diamond turns solid pink you has been picked up by the ILS. When the horizontal diamond is dead centre your are at the right distance and when the vertical diamond is centre you are on the correct guide slope.Then you only need to press the approach button below the VNAV and the ILS will guide you to the runway. It will control the speed and height of the approach. However, you need to set the speed brake ,flaps and landing gear. The last 100ft most people turns off the auto pilot and auto throttle and manually land the plane

when you're coming in to land, watch your glide slope and stay on that pink diamond, if the autopilot disconnects you need to follow that pink diamond and aim for the 100 ft mark on the runway and flare at around 15 feet. also if you practice a lot more, try to land on the center line.

HAH, I JUST learned exactly this today. You can save certain viewpoints with CTRL+NUMPAD1 (for example), then, when you press NUMPAD1 it will go to that exact view. Make sure your NUM LOCK is turned on.

Can anyone help? I have been trying to get zibo 737x to work in xplane11 for months and different problems and bugs keep coming up making xplane impossible to use. I cannot afford £80 for a payware aircraft and zibo seems to be the only solution. At the start of playing plane 11 (mid 2019) it worked perfectly but I didn’t no how to fly I nearly had the hang of the zibo 737 when bugs came up making it unusable. I have reinstalled several times on steam and even reset windows 10 but no luck. I am running out of options!

JAKE GAMING no the one I’m using in the video is the Zibo 737-800. It’s freeware and really well made.
33:10 i fail at here. Cant turn these sharp edges like u do. I need to use reversers to go on the grass and then i can turn.

do you know why i would be drifting off course while flying with full fmc auto pilot engaged, or does the aircraft not always fly directly on the purple line?
It should be on the purple line. Have you followed everything on the video perfectly?
