The guy at the hospital who helped Michael was the Italian POW who the Godfather helped stay in the US to marry the baker's daughter.
thank you that actually make so much sense
♥♥♥
It is Christmas when the Godfather is assaulted. On New Year's Eve, Michael moves the hospital bed and vows to be on the side of his father. The baker's daughter is having her baby then, so Enzo pays his respects. He carries flowers to see the Don but winds up standing with Michael on the hospital steps.
This is one of the finest screenplays ever written. Rich and complex. Woven, not haphazardly slapped together.
He is a great example of the friends of the Godfather, just like his FIL the baker. Enzo has a good life ahead of him in the bakery so there is no need for him to get into any kind of role with the family, but will always have their support and protection. The baker showed his friendship by making the wedding cake so he also had the freedom to ask a favor which was willingly granted. Enzo has done a great service to the Don so he also will be in their good graces. Even showing respect by bringing flowers to the hospital is a good thing.
When Don Corleone tells Sonny "Never tell anyone outside the family what you're thinking!" that has always stayed with me.
Agree. Same!
That advice is as sound now as it was all those years ago.
The actor who played Fredo, John Cazale, made only 5 movies. All of them received the Oscar for Best Picture. He died before the last of those movies was released. All of his performances were very subtle and memorable (in Godfather Part 2 his character was very important to the plot). Everyone who worked with him was heartbroken when he died and wished he had time to give us more memorable performances.
Such a great artist!
@@Gerhardium - His long tome girlfriend (and very possible future fiancee) was Meryl Streep.
I own DOG DAY AFTERNOON on DVD.
he's so great i believed him to be that character tbh
His statistics are already insane as is and will never be surpassed,no need to put extras on it. The conversation and Dog Day afternoon didn't win but I agree,he was amazing.
The singer Johnny Fontane was modeled after Frank Sinatra who tried to stop the movie from being made. In real life Frank had a Godfather who supposedly got him into the movie business.
The role in question was private Maggio from 'From here to eternity"
And the girl was Mia farrow.
@@bigmikem1578From Here to Eternity was a long time before Sinatra got mixed up with Mia Farrow. She was 8 years old in 1953 when the movie came out--younger when it was being made.
And a very good one it was, but hope no dead horses were involved@@jackcade68
@bigmikem1578 wrong.
Part 2 is a must 👍
It’s an excellent film! Free Palestine 🇵🇸
A lot of things can slip by on first watch, but you guys are pretty quick to pick up on the details. Nice job👍
Godfather II is a nice follow up to this one.
That's like saying breathing is a nice follow up to living. :D
This was so well-done. Back then the Italian mafia had "rules"... you left the families (wives and children) alone. You maintained a certain amount of public respectability. The scene that gets me is Michael in church saying the vows at his nephew's baptism, including rejecting Satan, while showing all the "hits" he ordered being carried out. His character really transformed.
I liked the no wives and kids rule not so much because it was just classy but the fact they knew anyone's family could be gotten too so this helped provide peace of mind.
@@jamiehill3621 Exactly -- if you went after their family, they could go after yours too.
Except they were not not Italian, they were Sicilian. Maybe not an important difference to you , but very important to the Sicilian mafia.
Yes agree. Wow
Definitely do Godfather Part 2 as soon as possible so the first one is still fresh in your mind. It’s best that way.
But avoid part 3. Did I say part 3? What part 3?
@@himwhoisnottobenamed5427I like to pretend part 3 never happened, and that sofia coppola never had an acting career - just a directing career.
@@jilliansmaniotto2326 Good idea. I didn't care at all when I read it had been remastered.
Only reactor I've ever seen to accurately guess that it was the horse.. Congrats
Of course I am still waiting for a reactor to call that Sonny is being set up by Carlo before he gets to the toll booth. I am about zero for fifty on that one.
I'm always happy to see someone watch this for the first time.
I’m obsessed with this movie to the point where I’ve easily seen at last 25 reaction videos and have to say you guys are my favorite cause I could tell you were generally shocked by the inside culture of the mafia yet are street smart enough yourself that you not only easily followed along but picked up on what would happen next. respect !
Great movie! Top ten movie all time for sure. Loving the movie reactions! Take care guys.
Gentlemen, youve just seen the greatest movie ever made.
Second best, after number 2
@shoujahatsumetsu Part 2 is my all time favorite movie.
But, Brando's performance puts 1 over the top.
There is nothing like it in all of cinema.
Yeah, I can agree to that, legendary performance.
What about Nutty Professor II: The Klumps ?
Yes agree. Wow!
Excellent reaction thanks. I just discovered this channel because I seek out every Godfather reaction I can find. I hope you guys react to many more films, especially classics of the caliber of The Godfather. Nice work I subbed
Welcome aboard!
You brothers make an excellent point about Michael learning to be a cold-blooded killer as a U.S. soldier.
He was a Marine.
No, not really accurate. During World War 2, soldiers fighting for the Axis powers far and away preferred to surrender to the Americans because they knew they would get much better treatment than at the hands of the Russians. There is no evidence that Michael's military service turned him into a "cold-blooded killer" and he did very little killing himself. Michael's military service did make him into an effective, decisive leader.
@@gawainethefirstSo a Marine isn't a soldier?
@@lawsonj39technically, marines aren’t called soldiers within US military. soldier = army; sailor = navy; airman = air force; marine = marines; coast guardsman/coastie = coast guard.
@@jilliansmaniotto2326technically yes but generally speaking, the words “soldier” and “army” are used in general to mean any of the above service branches
Great reaction, looking forward to Godfather Pt. 2!
You guys should do a reaction to Goodfellas..Love your channel.
The book is just as good 👍
the actor who said Mike was a war hero was an actual detective with the NYC police dept he and his partner broke up the French Connection
WHAT??!! Never heard that Thanks for the info.
@sassymess7111 Sonny Grosso.
His part was played by Roy Scheider in
The French Connection.
In the film his name was changed to Buddy 'Cloudy' Russo.
Oh, that's a great detail! The French Connection is one of my favorite movies.
In Mario Puzos' book, The detective who says Mike was a war hero was a paid insider for Sonny.
@@alonenjersey "My man in McCluskey's precinct."
Indeed.
Vendettas are revenge attacks.
Yep.
Intelligent reaction! Looking forward to Godfather II.
In the book it explains that his cheek bone was broken by the police captain, he couldn't get it fixed until he got back to the states. (He was in Sicily btw, near where his father was born)
Correct.
The cat in the opening scene just kind of showed up, and Brando just started petting it throughout the scene.
A lot of people didn't realize why the hit men were waiting for Sonny at the toll booth.
Carlo was paid by Barzini to set up Sonny. By beating up his wife, Connie, Carlo knew that she would call Sonny for help.
Thanks to Sonny's anger, he rushed right over there, and the hit men were waiting for him at the causeway toll booth.
Yes it was a set up. Carlo was a cowardly wife-beating traitor.
Request: “Bonnie and Clyde” 1967. Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty. True crime drama.🎭 You’ll like it, guaranteed.
None of the movies explain but I take satisfaction in the novel explaining that decades later Michael tracked down Fabrizio who had moved to upstate NY and opened a pizza place. His hitman took him out.
Actually there was a particular cut of one of the movies (TV version perhaps) where there was a scene showing Fabrizio being hit at his pizza place.
I remember that from the book. "Say, i hear you got a great tattoo under that shirt? Lemme see it."
"Micheal Corleone says hello." Bang! Bang! to the face.
Alot of what happened in this movie happened in real life.
Not really, the Johnny Fontaine character is based off of Frank Sinatra but everything else is straight fiction.
Subbed for part two, this one is a legendary film to for me part two is one of the best ever made
Now you guys need to watch Godfather Part 2 as soon as you can while this film is still fresh in your mind. It will not disappoint you.
Morning and Evening post:
Newspapers would publish 2 additions daily. Back in those days.
Just to answer a common question about the speed that news would travel.
For Marlon´s Brando character in this movie, Don Vito Corleone, Francis Ford Coppola put a jaw prosthesis in his mouth and a gauze, to give him that particular face. Brando was relatively young in this film, and Coppola pretended to age him and look more threatening.
The scenes in Long Beach ,the wedding, the garden scene where Don Corleone dies , were filmed about 3 blocks from my house . That house is still there The scene where Sonny is killed at the toll booth is on the Loop Parkway about 3 miles from my house .
Thats dope
27:45 The movie's director intentionally had the gun put almost out of reach and didn't tell the actor about it, just to add tension. The actor playing the police captain was Sterling Hayden who was in many great big and small movies....you might want to try reacting to "The Asphalt Jungle" from 1950, which is a crime drama. 51:00 You never want Clemenza in the back seat when they're taking you for a ride.
If you got into a car with ANY mafia members, you never wanted to ride in the "shotgun" seat in the front. Actually, I would insist on being the DRIVER and made it very clear that if I die, EVERYBODY in the car dies.
You notice Micheal is different from a regular civilian in the hospital Enzo’s was shitting himself shaking and Micheal litt his cigarette with a steady hand
Johnny signified Frank Sinatra, and the film would have been: From Here to Eternity, which ended with the attack on Pearl Harbor. It’s a classic.
The woman would have been Ava Gardener.
After this movie came out when I was 14, all my friends and I were using the phrase, "I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse", among other phrases in this movie. It is a piece of gold.
i started using it tbh
Ramadan Mubarak, friends! May your reflection, prayer, and giving bring you many blessings. I’m just coming across your channel today. I can’t wait to see more.
thank you , ramadan mubarak to you too ♥♥♥ much love
Mike wasn't in the army he was in the Marines.
Carlo being strangled….” Awww the windshield is ruined” 😂😂😂😂
Great reaction!!! Love the commentary. Can’t wait for pt 2!
Love watching the reaction to this film from the perspective of a different culture. Just proof of how good this movie is.
I like how much you guys get about loyalty and family, when it comes to the cinema of it.
Every time you say, "He's dead"..i just nod..
Two more movies in the series. part Two is one of the best movies ever made. Part Three is not in the same class but still worth a look. It ties up some things.
The point of part 3 is that it removes any semblance of respect for the Mafia. All the "honor" was gone out of it by then. The latter mafia was reduced to little more than a street gang.
41:56 "and they blow up my wife, I need a new one." Lol priceless 😂
😅😅😅
😢😂😂😂
Godfather part 2 is the best movie ever.
I'm partial to Godfather 1. But they're both ridiculously amazing and top 3 movies of all time, no argument.
Brando and the family atmosphere in the first one is unmatched in my humble opinion.
The Italian mafia wanted to prevent the film from being made. But after negotiations came about, the film could happen haha
And the word 'mafia' was never said.
Great editing skills I know doing this takes a lot of time much appreciated you guys are cool 👍🏼
Thank you so much 😁
Loving the movie reactions! Take care bro’s.
5:00 fun fact: the guy who plays Luca isn’t an actor, he was a member of the mafia sent to monitor/intimidate the film crew. Everyone was afraid of what would happen if they tried kicking them off the set, so Coppola offered him a small role to play in the movie.
And I believe it was in Coppola's directors commentary of the film who said the guy who played Luca was so intimidated by Brando he would actually forget his lines...so him rehearsing them was real, and they shot it and left it in.
Love from Oregon! Great job!
Great reaction, thank you. Looking forward to part 2.
Coming soon!
Part 2 is even better!!!!!
Hello my friends. Thank you I’m watching. TEXAS.

I'm in Houston. How y'all doing? 😄
@@sassymess7111 North Central Texas 100 miles west of Dallas. Doing great here.
Your channel is one of the very.best......I love the way you reflect on the movies you watch.
Remarkable thing is "Godfather' transition to Godfather Part 2 is so seemless that the only difference is "I make 'im an offer he no refuse". All about "he who would strike a blow at the king, would best make it fatal".
The shock to the baptism scene was Michael was killing all the heads of the other families while at a sacred event
italian and spanish are close related lenguages
And they blew up my wife..I need a new one. That's was funny guys. Great review!!
Then Michael goes crawling back to Kate and it's very disingenuous. Kate turns out to be his weakness throughout the trilogy.
this might be one of my favorite reactions to this movie. love it!
Wow, thanks!
@@HABIBIBROTHERS717 I think yall will really love part II. it’s half prequel (about vito’s early days and rise to power) and half sequel (showing michael as they focus more on the vegas casino business and ventures in cuba right before the revolution). it’s some truly brilliant storytelling, and it was the movie that launched robert de niro into a major name in hollywood. it’s widely regarded as the best sequel of all time, and many think it’s even better than the first godfather movie.
The story behind this movie's making is very interesting and not without its share of drama.
That is an excellent movie, and the rest are just as good. Enjoyed your reactions!
Have you even seen part 3? 😂
Yeah, there is definity a drop off in Part 3. It's not terrible but it is nowhere near on the level of the first two. Speaking of which, this isn't a real popular opinion but I am of the belief that this movie is definitely better than Part 2. It would have been better if they had made either the early Vito storyline or the present Michael storyline Part 2 and the other storyline Part 3. To me trying to cram both of those storylines into one movie short changed each storyline. Part 2 is still a great movie but the original is flawless whereas I can nitpick Part 2 quite a bit.
The brother in law was part of the plot to kill the Godfather's brother. The cold thing is that the Godfather waited.
And Clemenza got the "honor" of killing him because Clemenza was Sonny's godfather.
The whole Johnny Fontane war movie bit is allegedly based on Frank Sinatra. The scuttlebutt is that Frank used his Mafia connections to land a role in the big, upcoming Hollywood WW II film: "From Here to Eternity" (1953). The film became a huge blockbuster that swept the Academy Awards. Frank Sinatra won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor that year and some argue it revived his flagging career. Most don't think there was a horse involved in the negotiations.
Good reaction guys !
my nephew and I both looked just like Michael's son when he was playing in the garden.
that's awesome
the godfather is DEFINITELY a movie you have to watch more than once! Theres so much that makes sense second time around... I would suggest, if you are going to watch godfather 2, that you watch godfather 1 again just before it! :)
Loved this
yall NEED to do godfather 2 please
it's just as good if not better
Entertaining video we need more!
Coming up soon inshalah.
When Clemenza says, "Hello, Carlo," you know; you just know. In the book you would learn that Clemenza was Sonny's godfather, so he got to kill Carlo.
Waltz’s screams at the horse head was real. The actor didn’t know it was coming.
The prop master should have messed with his head and put a remote mike on the horse so that when he took off the covers the horse talked to him. 'Willll-burr!!"
Vendettas are feuds between families.
You guys make excellent movie choices. There is a part 2 and 3 as well. 🇨🇦🖖🏻
Part 2 is even better.
Comin up soon.
New sub here, great choice👍😁
Thanks for subbing ♥
Great reaction my brothers Habibi.
Congratulations on picking what I consider to be the greatest film of all time. Part 1 & 2 are basically one movie of equal quality. The estate that the movie director lives in is an iconic landmark in California called Hearst Castle. It is located overlooking the Pacific Ocean in one of the most beautiful parts of the state. It is open to the public for tours and I highly recommend anyone in the area to take a sunset tour. The architecture and the grounds are absolutely stunning.
You should see Brando in "On the Waterfront" and "Streetcar Named Desire"
No one notices but early in the movie Tom said, "I'm as much a son to Pop as you or Mike". Even then everyone knew Fredo didn't count. Weak and dumb.
In that sense , the character was realistic. There were real-life mafia figures a lot like Fredo. They wanted the "good life" aspects of being in organized crime without getting their hands dirty.
Godfather II is just as brilliant as this film.
gracias is spanish, grazi is Italian.
Part 1&2 are the first movie and sequel to both win best picture!
He died playing with his grandson. Great for him, traumatic for the kid. Very enjoyable reaction. Thanks, guys.

Alfredo James Pacino's Mother's family actually name from Corleone, Sicily. And Al's nickname as a child was Sonny... He was meant to have that role.
HABIBI BROTHERS Scared To Watch Law Abiding Citizen 🤣
The God Father played by Marlon Brando, one of my favorite actors.
VENDETTA- revenge killing. PREGO- good. Great job editing your response.
And I love how the Catholic stuff confused you. It confuses a lot of us Americans too. Watch #2 if you didn't yet. It is just as good. Avoid the third one though, it was very sub-par.
I’m love the cat in the first scene. Apparently it just crawled into Brando’s lap and he went with it. Imthink itmaddsa lot to the scene.
It looks symbolic. Vito wields the power to cause so much death and destruction but the cat perceives him as a "sweetheart".
Excellent reaction 🎉
Thank you!! 😁
A starting salary of $50,000 in late 1946? That was very, very nice.
It's true good sirs. If my father were alive today, he'd confirm my statement. He was twenty years old and serving in the Army in Germany at the time.
Thanks!
Thank you so much. ❤️
The book follows Tessio on out until his death, and he actually yells at Al Nehri (the fake cop who shot Barzini) for being unprofessional about the whole thing. Al then plugged him.
Also, Clemenza (my favorite character in the whole thing) requested to be the one to dispatch Carlo-- he was Sonny's godfather so you can understand why.
Also (also), Luca and Vito were deathly fearful of each other while also being incredibly loyal at the same time-- it's why Vito asked Tom if the meeting was necessary and why Luca practiced his speech. in reality, the actor was so nervous about working with Marlin Brando that he fumbled his lines --the director added the scene where he practices his speech afterwards.
Luca was the only one there who didn't request anything from a Sicilian on his daughter's wedding day.
Luca (the man practicing the lines at the wedding) in the movies has a minor role, and it is such a tragedy. Luca Brazi is an evil man who knows he was EVIL! Luca, before coming into service of Don Coleone, was his own boss for a small area who promised to kill Tom Hagan because Luca girl was trying to get Luca to go big time and had sex with Tom Hagan. When Vito tries to settle the bad blood, luca says no. Later, Luca girlfriend gets pregnant by Luca and has the nurse throw the baby in the house furnace, killing the baby. Then, he takes a bunch of pills to kill himself as he feels he is evil and should not produce more evil through his line. Vito learns of this and gets the charges dropped, and the nurse sent back to Italy. Luca is a bit slow in speech but follows Vito with all his mind and spirit until he dies.
The director purposely hid the gun out of reach In another spot To make it look like The actor was nervous and struggling to find it And it worked
Ramadan Mubarak May Allah bless you akhi’s 🤲🏻
ramadan mubarak thank you brother
I was wondering if you guys can react to language families from around the world. I don't know how you guys take requests, but it's interesting. It shows the various language families. By the way, language families are like how people have family trees. You have your siblings, then your parents, and grandparents. Languages have them too. For example, English, German, Dutch, and other languages like the Norse languages are distant cousin languages to each other, descending from an older ancient language called Proto-Germanic. And for the case of Arabic, it’s related to Hebrew, Aramaic, and some extinct languages like Akkadian. The language family is Semitic. The Semitic language family is part of a bigger language called Afro-Asiatic, of which Semitic, Berber Amazigh, Chadic, ancient Egyptian, and others are part. It's a very interesting video; it’s from the channel 'Randomly Random'.
Be sure to watch GF 2, it picks up right where this leaves off.
Good job
