Stream English is all about pushing your GCSE English Language and Literature skills to a grade 9. One of the best ways to do that is for me to see your work as I use my experience as a teacher and an examiner to give you specific advice. You can submit essay questions you’ve written on the Stream English website; I will then create a video where I mark your work and talk you through how you can improve. idk how much sense this makes but i came up with it quickly: Sibilance of ‘single span’ - paired words, reinforces the desire for being together, poet links this to ‘second’ which also highlights the dual imagery. Perhaps the son isn't ready to let go. This idea is also reinforced by the rhyming couplets which creates a harmony and emphasises the comfortability of being together as a pair, however this is disrupted with ‘kite’ - suggests the son is ready to break away and leave home and grow up but is worried it will cause a disruption in their relationship which is why he is hesitant. Alliteration of ‘to fall or fly’ - two options, also reinforcing the dual pairing but this time symbolising freedom, excitement of the unknown, enhanced by the rhyming couplet of ‘sky’ and ‘fly’ - suggests leaving home and growing up does not have to be a bad thing, there can be harmony
Beautiful analysis on all counts. By thinking about the language and then how the structure reinforces it, you've come up with really insightful ideas.
Same here, but it is always such a useful skill to be able to critically analyse something as small as a sentence structure. Once you have a really good idea on what the author is showing, you can read anyone's body language, literature, experience, ideologies, cultures and way more in your life.
