  • If you want to help me make these vids in any way (TH-cam revenue is like £40-45 a month, I spend more than that on fuel to get me there and back and Lucozade to keep me awake when down the workshop than that lol) then you're more than welcome to be part of my Patreon, which is here-
    / stavtech (it's wildly out of date as I've not touched it in years, but will update that shortly, bear with me!)

    Beautiful mate. I just installed one of these on my hq kingswood with a nasty small block. A real treat for an old tech car and much easier to install than expected.

      Yeah it was way easier and better than I expected too. I hate electrics but this thing was easy

    One of the things I love about this modern era is the ability to specialise functions into different components and take them away from the engine, mostly because electric motors have got so much better. In days gone by, the engine would do everything - fans were run from aux belts, as did power steering, air conditioning... and now water pumps, all of which can be controlled using multiple different inputs/maps/etc to control the variables to the optimum required.
    There's a question though - have people done this with engine oil pumps as well? I'm doing it for a separate oil system for a remote mounted turbo, but it never occurred to me that it could potentially be done for the engine itself with the right kind of electric pump.

      Oil pump is SUCH a vital thing where even 1 sec and it’s dead engine, I don’t think anyones trusted electric for an engine oil pump yet.
      But yeah, only thing that runs off the engine on mine is alternator, which is where the electric that powers the rest comes from lol

    3 uploads in 3 days. You've been busy. 👌I've seen plenty of Davies Craig fans, but not yet seen the controller. Looks like a neat bit of kit.

      To be fair it was last week I was busy, and didn’t upload anything, so i got it off the memory cards all at once so you got it in bulk lol

    as you guys know the DavisCraig EWP controller is horrid. You really can't use it unless you have a thermostat in the car and the controller is NOT variable speed. It has 3 speeds on, off and 50% and you have zero control over the speed or the duration when the pump turns on and off when the vehicle is warming up. The solution.. th-cam.com/video/Yiq3RKSpnZo/w-d-xo.html

    im running the same pump on my mk6 gti cuz i deleted the balance shafts and my pump runs off them via a belt on the back of one of the shafts. but in my case it is a endeavor cuz i need to rerun a lot of the coolant lines to make it work plus i needed to modify the oe pimp its self for proper coolant flow. but your build is looking good.

    i was thinking of getting a fan controller anyway for my 940 Turbo conversion as original was viscous. might aswell go down this route now! thanks stav!

    Another great one.
    Love EWP pumps. Worked with a 130 and a 115 in the past and they were easy, reliable and working great.
    The controller works great even if it looks a bit outdated and they work great when integrated in an ecu as well.

    That MR2 already has an electric powersteering pump, the limited accessories on the engine is really cool. I wish they would have housed the controller in a normal gauge/ pod but this is still really nice set up.

  • @tyranneous
    @tyranneous 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Confirming that yes, you've got more room on that mr2 than on a Leon (which was the last one I was involved in). Having them in a mk2 golf etc. was always a breeze comparatively.
    And yes, the plastic water pumps are wank.

    • @StavTech
      @StavTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zero point or need to with this. If you still had a stock pump in there too, yes as it would over-cool then

    One question dose the heater still work well??

    • @StavTech
      @StavTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. Why wouldn’t it? Gets up to temp faster than standard

    • @HyzerGlen
      @HyzerGlen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StavTech Plenty of people throw them on the radiator outlet and it changes what should be suction into the pump on one side of the heater core and pressure on the other side into pressure on both ends = no flow = no heater. Tried it on an fwd sr20 pulsar and it worked like a bag of shyte, no heater, constant overcooling regardless of thermostat even with their attempt at speed controller (archaic AF) etc.
      Plumbed right into where the original pump goes it works awesome though. Just difficult to plumb it in that way on plenty of cars. Keep it up with the vids aye. love em.

    • @StavTech
      @StavTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HyzerGlen works fine on the radiator outlet for me. I’m running the coolant temp low though as it’s oil temp I want to be hot not the water, so over cooling I don’t know. but no issues so far and the heater works to the extent I set it to cold after a few min last night when driving it as was making it too hot inside.

    The Pump and the functions of it are very nice , just the Display is a little bit big for my taste.
    Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

      You could hide it away easy enough, but for my needs it’s better to be out in the open.
      I think it’s meant to be hidden away as it comes with a red led on a wire that comes on if something goes wrong, and wouldn’t need that if display is visible.

    • @ronanrogers4127
      @ronanrogers4127 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. They could reduce it to 2/3 the size and I think it would still be legible and show all the readings. I quite like their 52mm gauge which can do 2 fans + pump (connected by relay to one of the fans), but it doesn’t have the run on feature after shutdown.
