Lady Madras is indeed beautiful and what makes her Beautiful, is its people the true Madarasi. They decorate her with love, joy and labour. Her beauty is understood by her own and the adopted ones or someone like me a Passer by... Thank You Madras!!! God Bless Chennai and Chennaiite!!!
i totally loved it....culture is still preserved here...i love temples, fish market, travelling by train, early morning beach, having tea from small local shops, visiting people on festivals like pongal, kollam on streets, really amazing city....i am completely in love with it
A lot of people (unfortunately) do not know the History of Madras. It started off as a Telugu village named ChennaPattanam, ruled by a Telugu Chieftan named Damarla Chennappa Nayudu -- His son later leased it to the British. Even today, there are a lot of people living in Chennai who have Telugu as the mother tongue. These people are native to Chennai, living here for about 300+ years and have Telugu as mother tongue(they are not recent immigrants !!). Madras served as the capital of both TN and Coastal AP (Madras State/Presidency) for at least 250+ years. The whole modern TN-AP story is only about 50 years old. We forget history too soon. And yes, Chennai is the first modern city of India, and IT IS COSMOPOLITAN BEYOND COMPREHENSION!!! Proud to be a Madras Telugu, Proud to be a fluent Tamil speaker and writer, and Proud to be a MADRAASI !!!
Binoy Vudi Binoy, If you see the history of south india, lands have moved hands so many times from one kingdom to other. At one point of time, entire south india and parts of maharashtra was ruled by tamil cholas. So can tamils claim all these areas as theirs. It is not right and not acceptable in the present context. Isnt it. . you are right in one way that the british got this land from telugu nayak chieftain chennappa nayak and named it as chennapatnam.(telugu nayaks ruled entire tamil nadu during the period of vijayanagara empire and that is the reason we find large telugu population in TN) and developed it but the land from time immemorial had tamil population in majority. Thats why tamil nadu boundary with andhra starts almost 70 KM north of chennai. Ancient towns of thiruvalllikeni, thiruvottiyur and mylapore (core chennai areas) has tamil imprints from time immemorial. More over chenna is also a old tamil word. It is now widely used kannada word for good things. We had lot of tamil kings with names ending with chenni like chera king ilanchet chenni.
msel04 You are absolutely right, my brother. Me missing points about the region changing hands (But almost 85 % of the time being under Tamil Kingdoms) does change the context of the comment. I am a Telugu, native to Tamil Nadu (My NATIVE PLACE IS NOT ANDHRA, but it is TAMIL NADU for atleast 5 generations). I should have mentioned that the no-mans' land at the time of creation of Fort S. George was under the rule of a Telugu ruler (at that particular point in time). kingdoms took turns ruling this region, and Tamil is definitely the mother of South Indian Civilization - We need to accept this. Whether we are native Tamil speakers or not. This comes from a Telugu-Tamil. I cannot call myself a Telugu, nor can I call myself a Tamil - I am a native of MADRAS for 300 years of my ancestry, and I speak both Tamil and Telugu fluently - the purpose of my comment was to reiterate the importance of Telugu in the history of Chennai, because that important part of history is forgotten by many.
We all r one race only brother... As a Tamilian I never consider Telugu, kannada, malayalam & tulu people are different... But just one regret when Hindi imposition comes to our south indian language... Only we tamil stood against that nobody has dare to oppose hindi apart from our people.
Balaji Maheshwar's work is great as usual. But the editing on this is mind-blowing. The subtle visual cues that go along with the soundtrack has been really well done.
I usually don't write any comment but this whole video was just heart touching you have justified 100% to ARR's tune and voice. Great work, so many talented people in this world.
very specially fresh song to listen and to sea and all of the Chennai culture and nature habits shows in Madras is calling song these is a really good feeling to listen
The song is wonderful. But they could have chosen better pictures. Especially for Indian like me who live abroad. Why didn't they show Marina Beach mall or Saint Thomas church ?
Never had the chance of living in my country. Left it at two years old. Been living abroad since 47 years. Hope I shall have some day the chance of living and dying in my country, at least .
i really don't understand why people are just only highlighting the person who holded telugu paper,is it wrong reading telugu paper in chennai,in chennai they are many people who camed and settled from other states, they are also part of chennai.
For those who leave India, hear this song once. Just for some fancy Profile picture and foreign currency those who leave our country hear this once. Those who leave India say they will come back for sure, never return back.
First off let me just say I DO NOT take time to comment on videos on youtube but this is just beautiful. Great camera work , color correction and editing. I did feel the music was a bit off in the start but in the end it really worked for me. If I were the government I would hire you to do a India calling. Also what cameras/lenses did you shoot on and at what frame rate ?
