  • I used to have a F5 iteration of this unit and metal filings got into the little control board and it went up in smoke. so this time i thought i would try to at least prevent that issue by using some 400 micron filter mesh i took from a paint strainer.
im sure there are many other ways to protect it but this is what i have to hand if it doesnt last i can always try something else.

You could've done that much cleaner than that. Cut it down to size and glue it in place. Alternatively you could open it up and stick it from the inside.
It's a good idea though, i had multiple rotors fail on Bosch grinders because metal filings damaged windings.

wouldnt glue it would leave a right mess if it needs to be replaced. i might get some metal mesh though maybe more durable. its ok for now though used it a handful of times so far

What is the difference between it and the G6 version?

no idea it seems they change them every year but I don't think they do much to them if anything at all
