Hello, I ve decided to comment on most of videos, how they were made what was the purpose of it's screen play : for Doom 3 despite the gothic layer of it's original idea, for this one I wanted to give the viewver a feeling of steping in some otherworldy area and feel the uneasyness of the place, repeating scenes, that looming red sky with the tower, screams. This video was intented for this feeling. Doom 3 did a great job on those, hell was about to be visited, just by listening to the audio logs, the messages, the build up was awesome. Before, during and after hell Doom3 was brillantly mastered for those parts, a real game highlight and maybe among the best in the industry.

Hell is incredibly disappointing for one reason. Although incredibly atmospheric, just when the game got interesting you get MORE BORING MARS BASES. What were they thinking? I wanted at least 3 more hell levels...
When I went to Hell in Doom 3, I actually felt like I went there. There was wailing, and grinding of teeth, fire and brimstone, no good light or happiness. It was terrifying. Kudos to ID software, and their artists for making a really threatening level!
*1:26* those sounds are some of the most haunting things I've ever heard from a Horror movie or game period. The second creepiest would be the Requiem theme from 2001 Space Odyssey
I think Doom 3 has created hell in the best possible way. This is what I really could imagine as hell. It has everything - screams, creepy sounds, ambience and environment that brings just the perfectly unsettling feeling. A masterpiece. Also I really loved how ID worked great with escalation - the further you went, the creepier and more dangerous everything was. Delta labs 4 and then hell was a peak. Then bit of a relief when you came back from hell and then again everything went slowly darker and creepier until the end.
Beautiful description. Doom 3 is the real Doom.

I loved this level, it has such a creepy ambiance. You felt like even though there was no one around you were surrounded with thousands of disembodied tortured souls. This game was scarier than dead space imo
Definitely wasn't the best Doom game released, but it sure as hell was the scariest 😅

@@mario14th Doom 4 is one of my favourite SP shooters ever and I still find my self coming back to doom 3, its so immersive and haunting at times, plus it just really feels like a martian military base with all the interactive screens and machinery, all the number pads and lockers, it really adds another level of depth.
As I've always said, Doom 3 was a great attempt at capturing more of a "realistic" scenario of what someone in the Doom Marine's shoes would have to go through to survive a hellish invasion. Caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. An isolated base with cramped corridors, tons of engineering infrastructure which leads to many power and lighting problems. It's not the run and gun of the original 1993 and 95 games, or even 2016 or Eternal, but imo it's the best at capturing a more realistic immersive scenario. I love it because I love immersion and realism which is why I do a lot of VR flight sim. I feel like Doom 3 really captured the human element with all the PDA recordings of the various staff assigned to the UAC.
I wish people stopped disrespecting Doom 3 by constantly comparing it to dead space. Dead space will never ever be as impactful and disturbing as Doom 3 was. Period.

With everything going on most notably those cries that sound like souls of the damned you can still just about hear Dr Betruger's laugh in the background.
You'd probably have to be dead to see how they are suffering. Maybe their soul just being there is perpetual pain without having to be earthly tortured. Being alive in hell for some reason gives you infinite energetic boost, such as sprinting without getting tired.
RIP to those who died on Mars City. I do wonder if all of those who died outside of the realm went to hell. I mean it sucks if you went to hell (physically) and died and your soul is stuck, but outside the realm and back at the Mars Base, unless their souls are being dragged there. The scientists, the security, Bravo team, Counselor Swan and his bodyguard, and the ancient Martians. Can't stop thinking that there's nothing you can do for those souls already in there. Perhaps those who are dying on Earth are lucky. Because in Resurrection of Evil, a different marine uses Hell's artifact to absorb human souls, still inside their once living vessels.
I guess annihilation by the Heart of Hell is better than being in Hell.
now imagine humanity deciding that they had enough and invaded this realm, and actually succeeding

I loved Hell in Doom 3. Especially those disembodied voices, screaming and crying, like they're the souls of the damned, doomed to suffer in Hell forever. Goes really well with this video too: th-cam.com/video/Q6agp40RlEg/w-d-xo.html
For a place called Hell, it does have a pretty linear path that's easy to follow and with clean walkways.

I wish Doom (2016) had more ambience in it like Doom 3, I mean you can hear Doom 3's influence in Doom (2016), but it's just not the same. The atmosphere takes a backseat to the soundtrack, which is amazing yes, but in those quiet moments I wish it had more darkness and horror sounds like Doom 3.
Doom was never about that. It's not about cowering in the corner hoping nothing leaps out at you. It's about being a badass space marine. Hell comes for me? Let it come. I have a chaingun.

BaronPraxis - Only because of computer and hardware technology limitations in 93 that they couldn't make it like it was supposed to be in 2003/04. Doom 2016 was just a 90s throwback for the butthurt nostalgia fanboys.

Polygon Fragments well done. You took what was scary and made it 10x scarier. I think this video would have been great as a nightmare sequence at the very beginning of the game.
I'm positive that hell is worse than this ! Even the testimony of those who died and went there are scary than this !
I mean, i dont think you even see the worst parts, because you enter hell alive, so you only see a sliver of whats to come.
Heh good old memories! This game was one of the best, if not the best imo to represent true Hell. It was so oppressive that I was eager to get back to the abandonned laboratories :o I remember too the first time I had a CPU that overheated it was with my AMD Athlon X2 3800+ back then and it happened when I got into a room with a lot of lava/heat from Hell, strange coïncidence heh.
If this is the kind of Hell you guys enjoy, consider checking out a game called Dante's Inferno. That game has probably the best depiction of Hell out of every single game I've played that features Hell.

Doom 2016 and doom eternal are the best doom games in the series but they have nothing on doom 3s hell. I actually felt like I was in hell in doom 3 and I loved it

After playing doom 3 for 10 hours, I for real started hearing the doom 3 ambience in my sleep, usually the hell ambience. Trust me, that was keeping me awake for... maybe hours or so? I don't know.
This place must be near the Doom 64 region of hell.
Its actually insanely crazy how similar Doom 3's Hell is to the overall theme of POSTAL 1....
