  • This video is a followup to a video I did a couple of years ago. Link below. When you're the only guitar player in a band you need a full sound. I find that running a stereo rig helps with that. I used an SM57 and an SM58 panned left and right.

    If you use the boss bass chorus you can have the chorus only effect the high end and it doesn't add any noise

    I have to run my Block Letter Gain at 2.5 to 4 max. Even at 4 it's insanely distorted. Maybe that's why all the hiss.

    Just my .02 cents. The Helix LT might be it if you're looking for a digital solution. It can do dual amps, has various 5150 models, and has a mimiq style doubler. Couple that with a Carvin Mach 100 power amp pedal to drive your cabs.... Sickness.

    • @DanGatesMetal
      @DanGatesMetal  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah someone else mentioned that. I do have a 2 channel Carvin tube preamp with EL34.

    How does the Zuul compare to the G string? I have a 6505+ and I usually run two Decimator IIs. One in front of the amp and one in the loop. Was looking at getting something that could do both. Tried the boss ns-2 and it didn't work quite right.

    • @DanGatesMetal
      @DanGatesMetal  ปีที่แล้ว

      They both work great. I probably prefer the Zuul.

  • @willchug
    @willchug ปีที่แล้ว

    Your running the Mimiq into each amps front input after the splitter out from what I can tell. That’s where I have mine, ( 6505+ & DSL ) It sounds like crap where Tc says to put it, in the effects loop of both amps, one in one amps loop and one in the other amps loop, even with a stage bug sb-6 after to fix any phase and ground loop issues.
    ABY split > Mimiq stereo in > stereo out > gate each side > overdrive each side > one into the 6505+ & one into the DSL.
    One dub.

    Hey there, killer tone and video! I was thinking about using the Mimiq pedal in my rig to fatten up the sound, and was doing some research and found this video. How do you wire the pedal into your rig? Before or after the splitter???

    • @DanGatesMetal
      @DanGatesMetal  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s after the splitter so that the pedal can be used stereo.

    Have you tried bbe 362 sonic maximizer? That thing helps give you hiss and pushes your sound farther

    Likely for you there are some great multi-FX on the market right now for sub 1000€
    I'm actually about to start a Death metal project myself and I've been looking at potential live rigs.
    You need to see what you need either a digital rig or an Analogue rig.
    I'm going with an Analogue rig personally because I would really love to put a pedal board together.
    Edit: For a good 5150 preamp check the AMT P-brick it's probably the best one by far

    hi. man. 2 questions.
    1. for solos. do u use delay for both o just for one amp?
    2. have u already test with and without lehle split?
    I have 2 modelers, mimiq doublers. but IDK if I have phase issues. I watched some videos and understand the difference.
    thx in advanced.

    • @DanGatesMetal
      @DanGatesMetal  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have used delay on one amp. But I mostly just ran without. Without the Lehle the amps are out of phase. So it sounds better to me to put the amps in phase with the Lehle.

      i tried in the fx loop of both of my modelers, then settled on running my guitar into the mimiq and then sending to both modelers input. sounds a bit better and less drastic like that. still tweaking for it to be better and i didn't notice any phasing issues. i copied his settings and will know tomorrow after work if i like it more, but at the moment i am struggling a little and disappointed. it's not as consistent as i'd like, but again still finding the right setting and it does sound better than ADT on my helix floor and stereo doubler is a close runner up on my headrush prime. using a capture on the prime, mandarin rocker on the floor, same settings, signal path for both are as similar as can be otherwise with the same settings. my main gripe so far is it doesn't sound as good as this video with the settings i had been using. hoping these help a lot more for what i am after.

      @DanGatesMetal While it may not have the usual "bells & whistles" such as USB or touch screen, I personally found it to be the floor unit/preamp that I had to do the least amount of knob twiddling or tweaking to obtain a ass-kicking , hi-gain sound.

    I always run two amps in my studio. 90s vht pittbull 5034 and a splawn Promod. I was getting a nasty 60 cycle hum with a passive splitter. I had to buy an active Radial ab(c)y pedal.
