Pros have finally figured out the secret to playing the Abassyd : don't ever produce a single camel
Would've been nice to see one or two camel archers thrown in the mix to reduce the horse archer damage by 20%
they get very easily sniped by horse archer in low numbers tho
@@RianDreamseeker is not only for debuff, they could buff ypu own troops too
@@RianDreamseeker you could micro them like a Khan, forcing the horse archers to pursue the camel would make it easier for spears to connect.
They cost a bit too much for how easy they are taken out.
@@Krozhin unfortunately then you defeat half the utility of paying for the camels because they are too far away to then debuff the horse archers. Can still give +1 armour tho. I'd say honestly the terrible camel riders with the +3 ranged armour upgrades could be more useful here

Look how Viper microed against Mangoes! He spread out a half, leaving a bigger group of archers, knowing the foe gonna fire towards this part, immediately spread out after Mango fire! It's just beautiful!
I would say you should think about fresh food stuffs as a food trickle of 75/150/225 food a minute depending on how many TCs you have ;)

Or around 3000 food for the whole game, Which is not a particularly strong eco boost compared to other civs imo, food is not the most valuable resource
It’s not that simple. The vills you buy with the discount are also gathering resources and those extra resources gathered are thx to fresh food stuffs too
@@ikrenji8125 you would buy the villager anyway, you never stop villager production, it doesn't make extra ressources
@@zilliq it means you need less vills on food to support 2 or 3 TC boom. When you go 2TC boom right out of the gates in feudal you can't afford anything else as other civs, while Abbasids can field an army or get their eco techs while they're at it

First of all, he had pretty good gold income that he can bypass efficiency.
Besides, it is much easier for us as viewer to point out mistakes that the pros made. If we are in that game, i am pretty sure we wouldn't be able to micro those 110 villagers as efficiently as him.
Besides, Viper is in a rush so every minute counts, thus there is no need to spend 1 more minute risking that your opponent can tech switch to MAA.

Viper is such a delight to watch; the way he uses every single unit especially villagers. His decision making in cringe moments is sublime.
I don't understand why he kept producing a losing combo. Viper countered him the entire game when the Rus could have grabbed up some men-at-arms and countered Viper's army.
Tech switches are costly and you may just end up with no decent army for a while and just die in the meantime.

Rus don't have a good food econ to support Men, they really struggle to transition to a farm econ and don't get any benefits for it
Viper lost every fight in the first 20 minutes. Archers don't really counter horse archers. Only at imperial he got the attack speed tech that made them actual counters. I think the real semi-hidden counter or "weakness exploit" were the spearmen who protected the siege from getting rushed by scouts. Lucifron played extremely sloppy this game. In multiple occasions he was tanking the spear dmg for no reason, losing monks and HA. Probably because he is used to be able to just out-zerg the opponent with Rus. Had he microed better he would have won before viper got to imperial. Also the villager losses were unaccepable for this level of players at 24:40.
But you are also right, just something like 10 man at arms would have turned the game. I think lucifron is just used to winning with only HA that he thought he doesn't need anything else.

Awesome play. Although if the rus would have gone with knights and or MMA and maybe straliti it would have gone different i think. Just forcing viper to use gold units - since he didn't have that much gold.
Everything is good in moderation. I love Rus mechanics until they get overused. Bounty? Unique, but it turned early game into cursed game of venison tag. Horse archers? Interesting, but it turned into mindless spam game. Can't wait for the next thing getting perverted.

Dehli is probably the worst by far. But abbasid is likely to be second from the bottom.
@@user-ez9ng2rw9c Delhi’s not that bad. I think a lot of content creators overreacted when the nerf came out and declared them the worst civ. They’re still the best on hybrid maps and they’ve got some really great strengths
@@northenby8288 Stats wise, no. A recent bunch of numbers showed they are mediocre on hybrids. Best on some, worst on others.
And their biggest weakness is just the fact that their imp is dead on arrival unless they already have a large lead.
Abbasid is probably second worst, but I think Dehli takes the cake in the category

Not by their average stats units or specific economic boost - their infantry can build wall, so they can shape the map to their advantage since dark age. Usually a good delhi stay longer than other CIV in dark/feodal age to control the map and all key locations which consequently counter opponent's fast castle age strategy.
This is exactly the kind of game that underlines Relics strategy of not hotfixing everything that is considered "OP" by some very loud people in the community. Let players figure out counter-strategies instead of this patching everything instantly. The game is still new, not much figured out, strategies and approaches constantly in flux. If something proves to be a problem for an extended time period, of course it needs a patch. But remeber before Genesis, it felt like everybody was whining about french bein OP? And then they got a losing record in that tournament by a lot? Because good players figured out good counters.

Like dude, just because you go fast Castle on Rus, doesnt mean that somebody is holding a gun to ur head forcing you to build only Horse Archer and Scouts the ENTIRE GAME for absolutely no reason. Drag a couple vills onto gold, my goodness.... Make a few Barracks and pop out mmA.

Chinese and Abbasid are practically unstoppable forces at late game.
Their economy is INSANE.
You only need to know how to play with them.
If Abbasid dynasty already in age 4. Can they build the last wing (whatever wing left)? So they can get the technology benefit? Just like China which can build both landmark of age up

I don't understand why these "pro" players choose the culture wing, and then don't research preservation of knowledge. Especially against Rus, it would help so much to play Military Wing instead and get additional armor your Archers while reducing the Horse Archer damage. Anyone can come up with this conclusion. What these pro players are doing doesn't make sense.

camel archers are expensive as heck, he will never match the numbers of the rus horse archer + scout spam. and if he builds too few camel archers they just get sniped

The ranged camel is ok, people casually mix them for armor buff/cavalry debuff.
But the melee is stupid. It does 11 melee damage to everything else aside cavalry which is ridiculously low considering the cost. And when people want a melee unit that counter cavalry, they 'd rather build spearmen.

camels get sniped and are just expensive, all that gold you sink in to just get those camels to work is bleh

Fresh food stuff makes villagers, which are an economy unit since they are workers/labour, cheaper. That's basically the definition of "economic" upgrade.
Yeah but like he said it doesn't really scale in the late game. Villagers gathering x % faster will have more of an impact later. But I would still agree that it is an economic upgrade
French and chinese bonus to villagers scale much better because they produce villagers faster, cheaper villagers is equivalent to giving a slight food bonus, thus it doesn't feel like a real economic bonus. It's basically giving Abassyd 3000 free food during the whole game, which isn't much all things considered
