Finally a place where I can find real life eco driving numbers. It's the one thing I take pride in with my driving, my teachers never talked about eco-driving to me even though it was a topic they were suppose to bring up, so I asked why. They just shrugged and said I was already driving eco-friendly enough that there was no point in bringing up the topic. Hoping to see a video about the Toyota Corolla Cross in the future from you!
Glad you’ve done this vehicle. Considering it as my next car. Currently I drive a Honda idtec 1.6 diesel (on all season tyres) at moment. My lowest has been 47 mpg (UK) with a overall average currently at 63.68 after 34000 miles. My all time best was 83.78 mpg (on original Michelin fuel saver tyres). I only use BP ultimate diesel and she gets waxed weather permitting before a long trip. (I have no idea if this helps but feels like silk after waxed).
Until 2017 I used to run the same Honda car, again with Michelin energy savers, and the average was almost exactly the same - 4.43l/100Km over 4 1/2 years. The main feature is that it was a good cruiser, with low aerodynamic drag - but not so good at short urban journeys. Then I replaced it with the previous Toyota Yaris hybrid with the 4 cylinder 1.5, which is almost the other way round - pretty much like the new Yaris Cross. The one I run is on Continental premium 2 tyres, which are not the best for rolling resistance. My experience of it is in line with the one demonstrated here, though. I think the new one is probably better, with a larger traction battery and motor - there are quite a few downhill sections on which the battery becomes full and thus engine braking is required, e.g.
The open-road and city combined is a fantastic result. If u can choose your route and drive in same clever way Mr Ecodriver do, the overall would be close to 3,0 l or even below, start with the nr "2" !? fantastic!
@@ecodriver1746 still fantastic in my head. It shows clearly the technical development. (They had) lot of engineering work to do, but finally it results perfect achievements.
I enjoy all your videos, you have the best fuel economy videos in all of youtube in my opinion. Toyota does deliver when it comes to miles per gallon. Still waiting for your review of the Rav 4 Prime. What grade of petrol are your using? Here in the U.S. regular is 87 octane, which I use for both our 2016 Chevrolet Volt and 2020 Toyota Highlander Hybrid / All wheel drive.
Thank you! RAV4 Prime should be here soon, I heard end of March will be deliveries. In Europe you basically only get either 95 octane or to a lesser extent 97. With the Atkinson-Engines in Toyota Hybrids a low octane petrol is fine
Hi Ecodriver, All of your videos of testing ECO cars are fantastic and very useful. Thank you for review of this little cross hybrid. I am not sure where to post this question but whether you also plan to review A250E PHEV?
Very informative, as usual. I think this route is becoming an international standard, and quite a lot of manufacturers should test their vehicles in accordance with Your method. When You get a chance, please test the KIA Sportage MHEV. I hear it can do 4.5L/100km...But, I will not believe it until You confirm it.😉
Great video. If you know how to drive that car the consumption is phenomenal. I have an old 2016 Yaris hybrid and I can get great consumption around 60mpg during summer and 50 mpg during winter where my neighbour has a large fiat 500( not the most efficient but you get the picture) and gets 25 mpg. Oddly enough I got my best consumption in the motorway 64.4 mpg so yes hybrids are also good there. Amazing video again
Hello and congrats for all your videos. Verry helpfull for the comunity. 2 questions: 1. have You use the normal driving mode or eco one? 2. This car or Honda Hrv? Please explain why. Thank you! Have a lovelly day!
Great video, thank you. Im thinking about getting this car or a Ford Kuga plug in hybrid. I will choose the car that are the most fuel efficient, and im starting to wonder if this is the one.
You choose between the right ones. Ford is close to Toyota when it comes to efficiency as their hybrid drivetrain is set up similar to Toyotas HSD. Either way, you don't do wrong ;)
Yet again bravo, excellent information👏 I was looking at the new suzuki s cross and the yaris cross, which one would you prefer? I'm liking the toyota after viewing this!?!
Thanks! S-Cross is definitely a good car, but personally I'd prefer the Yaris Cross in the Hybrid Version as I just generally like hybrids and Toyota's is - at least in my opinion - the best hybrid drivetrain out there.
Hi, I recently got my new Yaris cross (Not AWD), drove about 300 km, but the best consumption I get is about 6l /100km, I try to drive as gently as possible, I watched this video 3 times and copied everything you did, but I can not reduce the consumption, I don't know how to acheive below 4%. Is it because the car is new? or because of the winter tires? The benzin type I put or just my driving style. Thank you.
Every new car has higher gasoline consumption.. That's normal because the ecu is learning your style of driving it may take 2000 to 8000km it depends how you drive before it get to the normal.
normally not, as it makes no difference for Regen (whether you use B or the brake-pedal). On a downhill like this with some flat bits in between I coast most of the time, so it's more comfortable to not use B. Also, in B the petrol-engine often kicks in to assist with braking, which isn't needed here.
Good morning. I would like to ask what version of Yaris Cross is presented, whether it is executive or adventure. With what options can you have such a cockpit? Thank you in advance for your answer. :)
At 6 degrees C my auris hybrid 2013 exactly same 3.7. L Hilly wylly country Irish roads 🤣. 4.8 average usage in winter .usually in wormer weather drops to 3.9.L .Would be much better but doing lots of short trips to the shops around 5km on cold engine what actually increases average. Auris weight is ar1.400kg vs Yaris 1200kg .Yaris10 newer should go down at list 1 litre .Cheers.
Hi, for motorway driving around 100-110 kmh why is the yeris cross less efficient than the Corolla or chr? Is it the shape of it or the different hybrid system?
Hi, firstly I guess the shape, but it could also be factors like wind (head or tail), other traffic, etc. Those differences are not really significant, smallest differences may play a big role.
@@ecodriver1746 I'm driving a lot of miles on the highway and I'm considering the yaris cross and the chr. I like the design of the yaris cross much more but I want to a economical as possible on the highway..
I liked the idea of a small SUV but the Corolla saloon or Hatch is probably much more efficient? Have u tested the Corolla ? Thank you for these great videos. I get a bit lost when u say not to brake so much because it creates too much regeneration so petrol is used ? Maybe if I watch it a few times I’ll understand.
Hi, I've tested the Corolla Station Wagon/Suzuki Swace. What you probably refer to is on the descent. If you use "B" the car starts the petrol engine to support the braking.
Hey! Just ordered one last week I just want to ask, in city traffic, when you are stopped at red lights you put the e-cvt in N (neutral) or do you use the auto-hold button? Thanks!
These are the speed limits and this is how they test fuel consumption. If you go twice as fast you end up consuming four times more. If you like going fast buy a sport car.
Best video about how driving the car efficiently
Great video - gives really valuable insight into what to expect from this car in regards to fuel economy. And I must say I'm very impressed!
Thank you!
As usual Toyota strikes again and shows that it is one of the best cars! Good vid, thanks.
