Like, it's because of Ray that Norman learned the truth about Gracefield and that's why he is sacraficing himself for the rescue plan. And then Ray is alone, lonely, and just feels so guilty. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it just fits so well to what Ray could say in that moment - it's me that got you killed and you are now lonely in heaven while I'm lonely here.
