And in the middle of the song the singer says that they are going to go back to the 140 tempo(I don’t know what it called, I think it’s tempo) 😱That’s a must see... you will be shock the way that SM produced that song... it’s insane... trust me please... you need to see it. What I love about Soyeon isn't just that she has a good sense of music and production, it's that she's still growing as a musician. Like she isn't the best producer yet (I think she leans too heavily on the members' differing vocal tones for contrast without introducing much into the instrumental), but what makes me excited is that she's very new at this! This isn't an old hand churning out a bop every few months, this is someone in their prime growth period experimenting with tons of genres/styles and learning insanely quickly. I'm looking forward to her future in the industry so much. As for the song, it's a bop! Not my favorite of their songs, but it's atmospheric and cool. The mini album is great! Stream it y'all!

@@AZODi If you want to look into her a little more, there's videos about her composing the second mini album called "Made by Soyeon" on TH-cam, and some of the behind the scenes of her composing Lion for Queendom. You get a real sense that she has fundamentals, but a lot of her production method is experimentation, trial and error. But considering how good her discography is so early in her career she is someone who really has me anticipating her future a lot.

Another thing I wanted to mention just in general! Something really cool that I noticed they did is at 1:20 and at a part later in the song they had Yuqi sing before Miyeon and the vibe this creates is just so cool because their voices are so different from each other. Just the whole prechorus is so fun with the way it opens up I guess and the contrast of their voices is the cherry on top

Even tho this comeback is really different then what you expect from a Kpop song it still hits on a level of creepiness but exciting way. It's not my favourite comeback but its a solid one! Thanks for the great analysis which made me see how different this song was structured in comparison to other typical kpop songs :)
Honestly, this song literally screams sensuality and sexuality. I just realized, this song is an interplay between the tempted and the temptress. The lighter vocals are the temptress, seducing with sweet vocals, and the harsher vocals are the tempted fighting with herself and eventually giving in. The visual imagery suggests someone being tempted into sin by the devil. But with the song itself it suggests what I believe is a sexually confused woman being lead into a taboo relationship with a dominating other woman that she completely surrenders herself to.
You know, I think you've really changed my outlook on music in general. I didn't really know to take in the actual musicality of the songs I listened to. I used to think that what made the songs was lyrics, and I used to dislike any songs that were about love cause... Love is quite a common topic huh. But I've really started to appreciate everything else that goes into music since then, and your videos have been very helpful regarding that so thanks. :)

Wow.. that’s literally kinda why I love Kpop.. I like the music I could care less for the lyrics (which is why I probably stopped listening to bts but now I’m starting to again, they are very much about their lyrics) I’m starting to learn to appreciate lyrics more and not just the sound of what I like, it makes music a whole new experience for me.. I’m more in tune with the intention of the songs and makes me feel more emotion.. that’s probably why I love Feel Special (by TWICE) so much and Forever Young (by BTS).. it makes me cry listening to it now that ik what the meaning is behind it ❤️
the whole album is full of subverting expectations as far as what you're anticipating melodically. it's done SO well, and SO satisfyingly, and it's SOOO refreshing. the contrast in the video I feel is highly reflective of the juxtaposing going on throughout the mini. as always i love your insight & breakdown of everything!

I really appreciate your editing your video's, it's totally like your point about music producing, I'll paraphrase, "The aim is to have your [audience's] attention to the end of the [video]." And you DEFINATELY kept my full attention with your knowlegde and your editing. I especially appreciate: The cuts to the MV instead of keeping the camera on your face, which is ok, but I prefer to look at (G)-idle; Your cuts to your producing software showing us what you mean with your technical analysis; And even cutting to some comments by others and reacting to them. Besides editing, you're so SHARP, despite the fact that you pause, you never seem to be lost in the song, you seem like an actual producer that understands the anatomy of a (kpop) song. I'm a fan. Next mini album (I Made), 3 of the b-sides are co-produced by her. One of the other members, Minnie (the one with the bangs) co-produced one of the b-sides, Blow your Mind (has an MV). 'Light my Fire' and 'For you' from their Japanese mini album (LATATA) are co-produced by Soyeon and Minnie, respectively. Two of the other songs in the album are just Japanese versions of Latata and Maze of the first album. Their newest mini album (I trust) is co-produced entirely by Soyeon. Album includes Oh my god. They've been self-producing their songs since debut back on 2018. And yeah I agree on idols producing their own songs cos it's hard producing songs. She's also the leader of the group by the way.

From what i get is that many find their songs not catchy enough because they don't just find a routine of notes that repeat all the time multiple times in the song as the main buildup tune. This leaves many felling the buildup wasn't delivered etc. It feels like their latest songs are especially focused on showcasing their vocals instead.
Abslolutely loved the way you reacted to the song with musical analysis cuz most of the react channels are solely based on just reacting to the MV and not touching out what kinda change is happening in the song structure and when! Kudos to you for the through video, that too in a short time frame. 👏 Btw, I'd love to see your reaction and analysis on their previous release "LION". Would also love to see you doing a complete journey with (G)I-DLE's all title songs in this order : Debut song "Latata", then digital comeback "Hann", 2nd mini album's "Senorita", then digital single "Uh Oh" and Queendom special release "Lion" which I've mentioned before. The leader Soyeon (Rapper) was involved in all of them. She's a genius in her young age I have to say! 💜 Anyway, I loved "Oh My God" but I loved "Lion" more. OMG took some time to grow on me but probably the abruptness of it (intro, pre chorus, sudden bit drop, main chorus) kept me interested in it. I have to say in most reactions I'm mostly interested in the emotions the reactor is portraying when seeing/hearing a song while their analysis itself often doesn't really catch my interest. Can't say that about you though ! You have such a nice way of reacting in a very sympathetic manner and including professional analysis while still keeping it to an understandable level for people like me, having no clue about producing whatsoever. Therefore I'm really apreciating stuff like the examples of the side compressions etc.

Maybe it’s just me, I feel like OMG, Uh Oh and Lion, music wise, don’t really have much going on other than the chord 6-1-3. Literally they are all about acting (performing). Girls are very very talented especially Soyeon. I really look forward to a high quality comeback.
I don't know why but the chorus feels somewhat lackluster to me? I feel like I needed more after the buildup. Maybe it's just to go for something unexpected to throw us off as you mention it all the time. Love the videos man you're probably the most insightful channel out there

Shades of Billie Eilish IMO but I love that (G)I-DLE are able to take these risks and shake up some of the norms for Kpop Girl Groups. It keeps pushing things and allows for growth.

I love Idle for what they stand for, I love the song...but as you pointed out, Shuhua's part would usually be a bridge, and I do think it brings down the song. I wish we'd had a very exciting part leading to the last chorus. Aside from that, this song is increasingly growing on me but I prefer Lion.

If i were the producer I would put a similar trance-like synths u can hear in Maybe at least in the second chorus (and fade in just a little bit to intensifie the tension) bc theres is a lot of silence, along with the dubstep drums. And also change more the bridge (which doesn't feel like one but like a third verse) Btw, sry 4 my English :)

It sounds like (from the comments) that (G)I-die might be new to you. I would really love to see you react to their music videos (in chronological order: “Latata” “Hann(Alone)” “Senorita” “Uh Oh” “Lion”)-I think there’s a lot of fun things for you in those and you can observe growth. Also, after that you might really enjoy reacting to Soyeon’s collaborations with Riot (League of Legends) which have been big hits in their own right: KDA “Pop Stars” True Damage “Giants” And there’s more but there’s probably risk from TV Studios... their performances on Queendom showed their attempts at remixing their own music for live performance and dramatic effect and all performances have garnered lots of views for good reason. But you already have so much on your plate and tv productions seem sensitive to reactions of their content... but it’s frustrating because (G)I-dle is very theatrical in both MV and live performances and it’s worth commenting on both... In any case, I am just really greedy and I am going to be watching your other videos for sure 💕

hey n1co, if you are new to producing and you have a DAW already i would look into using the free plugins within your DAW first, then if you enjoy it i would look into investing into Serum from Splice.com, its my number 1 fav plugin for modern production and im confident, a lot of other writers i work with use it too. it enables you to have it and pay it off in $10 monthly installments, then you own it at the end of that period.

@@AZODi Thanks! Of course don't do the video if you do not think it would be interesting for you. But I would really love to hear your perspective on it. There are a lot of producers reacting to music now, and many of them give some interesting comments on the sounds and instruments. But you are the only one I have seen who talks about it from a composer's mindset. I've always found the way K/DA mixed Western and Korean pop really unique, so it would be very interesting to hear your thoughts on it.
I'm fascinated by Soyeon, she's definitely still maturing as a producer and songwriter, but she has my respect already. Love this song, but I would have approached the pre-chorus entirely differently, the reggeaton beat just doesn't work with the rest of the song.

Imo I was kinda disappointed, the thing about this song is that I like every part of it but when it's put all together it's just incohesive and it's choppy. Also it's always minnie doing the chorus and I'm so bored of that. And Shuhua always gets the same run on monotone lines and that's it. Soyeon was the only person who wrote the song, she co produced this which is exactly why I had low expectations. She's very talented, there's no doubt about that but with only one writer and doing the majority of the production and arrangement for a single song it diminishes the amount of creativity there could be in the song. And that's why I'm disappointed the most because this song could have been incredible
yeah, I agree too. I still overall like the song and will give it a thumbs up, but, it was too short. is it that hard to one more minute ? After shuhua part, they should 've had a longer chorus with Miyeon and Yuqi. then they could've ended with minnie's part. Also, does every song need a rap part. Soyeon should try singing.

Even tho this comeback is really different then what you expect from a Kpop song it still hits on a level of creepiness but exciting way.

Honestly, this song literally screams sensuality and sexuality.
I just realized, this song is an interplay between the tempted and the temptress. The lighter vocals are the temptress, seducing with sweet vocals, and the harsher vocals are the tempted fighting with herself and eventually giving in.
The visual imagery suggests someone being tempted into sin by the devil.
But with the song itself it suggests what I believe is a sexually confused woman being lead into a taboo relationship with a dominating other woman that she completely surrenders herself to.
You know, I think you've really changed my outlook on music in general. I didn't really know to take in the actual musicality of the songs I listened to. I used to think that what made the songs was lyrics, and I used to dislike any songs that were about love cause... Love is quite a common topic huh. But I've really started to appreciate everything else that goes into music since then, and your videos have been very helpful regarding that so thanks. :)

I’m starting to learn to appreciate lyrics more and not just the sound of what I like, it makes music a whole new experience for me.. I’m more in tune with the intention of the songs and makes me feel more emotion.. that’s probably why I love Feel Special (by TWICE) so much and Forever Young (by BTS).. it makes me cry listening to it now that ik what the meaning is behind it ❤️
the whole album is full of subverting expectations as far as what you're anticipating melodically. it's done SO well, and SO satisfyingly, and it's SOOO refreshing. the contrast in the video I feel is highly reflective of the juxtaposing going on throughout the mini. as always i love your insight & breakdown of everything!

I especially appreciate: The cuts to the MV instead of keeping the camera on your face, which is ok, but I prefer to look at (G)-idle; Your cuts to your producing software showing us what you mean with your technical analysis; And even cutting to some comments by others and reacting to them.
Besides editing, you're so SHARP, despite the fact that you pause, you never seem to be lost in the song, you seem like an actual producer that understands the anatomy of a (kpop) song.

'Light my Fire' and 'For you' from their Japanese mini album (LATATA) are co-produced by Soyeon and Minnie, respectively. Two of the other songs in the album are just Japanese versions of Latata and Maze of the first album.

From what i get is that many find their songs not catchy enough because they don't just find a routine of notes that repeat all the time multiple times in the song as the main buildup tune. This leaves many felling the buildup wasn't delivered etc.
It feels like their latest songs are especially focused on showcasing their vocals instead.

Btw, I'd love to see your reaction and analysis on their previous release "LION". I have to say in most reactions I'm mostly interested in the emotions the reactor is portraying when seeing/hearing a song while their analysis itself often doesn't really catch my interest. Can't say that about you though ! I don't know why but the chorus feels somewhat lackluster to me? I feel like I needed more after the buildup. Maybe it's just to go for something unexpected to throw us off as you mention it all the time. Love the videos man you're probably the most insightful channel out there

Shades of Billie Eilish IMO but I love that (G)I-DLE are able to take these risks and shake up some of the norms for Kpop Girl Groups. It keeps pushing things and allows for growth.

I love Idle for what they stand for, I love the song...but as you pointed out, Shuhua's part would usually be a bridge, and I do think it brings down the song. I wish we'd had a very exciting part leading to the last chorus. Aside from that, this song is increasingly growing on me but I prefer Lion.

If i were the producer I would put a similar trance-like synths u can hear in Maybe at least in the second chorus (and fade in just a little bit to intensifie the tension) bc theres is a lot of silence, along with the dubstep drums. And also change more the bridge (which doesn't feel like one but like a third verse) Btw, sry 4 my English :)
hey raul! yeah thats a good idea regarding the synths padding out the chorus! i think in my opinion it was left out so that the vocals can really dominate the chorus! its a super minimal chorus isnt it but it works nicely! the power and groove of it, i cant help but nod my head!

It sounds like (from the comments) that (G)I-die might be new to you. I would really love to see you react to their music videos (in chronological order: “Latata” “Hann(Alone)” “Senorita” “Uh Oh” “Lion”)-I think there’s a lot of fun things for you in those and you can observe growth.
Also, after that you might really enjoy reacting to Soyeon’s collaborations with Riot (League of Legends) which have been big hits in their own right:

And there’s more but there’s probably risk from TV Studios... their performances on Queendom showed their attempts at remixing their own music for live performance and dramatic effect and all performances have garnered lots of views for good reason. But you already have so much on your plate and tv productions seem sensitive to reactions of their content... but it’s frustrating because (G)I-dle is very theatrical in both MV and live performances and it’s worth commenting on both...

hey n1co, if you are new to producing and you have a DAW already i would look into using the free plugins within your DAW first, then if you enjoy it i would look into investing into Serum from Splice.com, its my number 1 fav plugin for modern production and im confident, a lot of other writers i work with use it too. it enables you to have it and pay it off in $10 monthly installments, then you own it at the end of that period.

@@AZODi Thanks! Of course don't do the video if you do not think it would be interesting for you. But I would really love to hear your perspective on it. There are a lot of producers reacting to music now, and many of them give some interesting comments on the sounds and instruments. But you are the only one I have seen who talks about it from a composer's mindset. I've always found the way K/DA mixed Western and Korean pop really unique, so it would be very interesting to hear your thoughts on it.
I'm fascinated by Soyeon, she's definitely still maturing as a producer and songwriter, but she has my respect already. Love this song, but I would have approached the pre-chorus entirely differently, the reggeaton beat just doesn't work with the rest of the song.

Imo I was kinda disappointed, the thing about this song is that I like every part of it but when it's put all together it's just incohesive and it's choppy. Also it's always minnie doing the chorus and I'm so bored of that. And Shuhua always gets the same run on monotone lines and that's it. Soyeon was the only person who wrote the song, she co produced this which is exactly why I had low expectations. She's very talented, there's no doubt about that but with only one writer and doing the majority of the production and arrangement for a single song it diminishes the amount of creativity there could be in the song. And that's why I'm disappointed the most because this song could have been incredible

yeah, I agree too. I still overall like the song and will give it a thumbs up, but, it was too short. is it that hard to one more minute ? After shuhua part, they should 've had a longer chorus with Miyeon and Yuqi. then they could've ended with minnie's part. Also, does every song need a rap part. Soyeon should try singing.
fair points made jayden! i can see why too, sounds like she could be trying to manage too much. the writing, the production, the vocals and working on choreo, its very hard to excel at one thing if you are doing a lot already.

At first (intro) I thought it was in major but when I listen carefully it sounds interesting, (it really is in minor). I found songs in minor kinda addictive and melancholy . Music wise, it sounds well.
