  • I have found an excellent tool here everyone! This is an inexpensive Auger that can be purchased in many variations on ebay. This one is somewhere around 52-58cc. I don't see a need to have any more power because this one will twist right out of my hands. I have drilled numerous holes with this tool and I am super happy with the purchase. I have noticed that it is very good on fuel and mine has started very easily every time. Running echo Red Armor 40:1.

    Glad too see someone else lives on a rock pile too. The local rental shop has them and the boys working there will drop them off at the renter's place for free just to watch the poor SOBs wrestle the machines trying to dig a post hole....

      Rock pile it is but I am thankful that it isn't a solid rock layer. Kinda the same for about 4 ft then you get to solid limestone. I can only effectively hand dig with a sharp shooter in this stuff. When running an auger you better be expecting a twist or you sure are gonna be surprised! Thanks 902 Hand!

    Hello. Excellent video. I purchased the same auger over a year ago but never got around to the project. I am now attacking the project and opened the auger package. Only to find no instructions. Lol Did you have the same issue? If so...how did you proceed? Thank you.

      I honestly could not tell you if the manual came with the unit because I nearly never reference them. More than likely it calls for 25:1. I dont run that. I run everything at 40:1. I have been very happy with the unit but please do understand, this is a very physically demanding task. If you have any specific questions, let me know! Thanks for watching!

      @oakiewoodsman ok. Mine came completely disassembled. Handles...gas lines....tanks ect. I guess I cam figure it out if I had a photo if it assembled. They didn't even include that.

    No brand name for this particular auger in the description or the title?

    • @oakiewoodsman
      @oakiewoodsman  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Many of these kinds of machines have no brand on them. There are numerous ones for sale that are identical with different branding and colors. Looking at the pictures you can determine what ones are the same.
      It was listed like this 52CC Gas Powered Earth Auger Post Hole Digger Borer Fence Ground +3...
      Currently, the HF one is a good price but only comes with one auger. Thanks for watching!

    Why does burning the post preserve it from rotting?

    • @oakiewoodsman
      @oakiewoodsman  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So, here is my understanding. The burned surface will not rot as easily because mold and fungus wont grow on the charred material. I have actually done my deck this way with all saw milled short leaf pine from my property. My wife and I cut the trees, milled the logs, burned and used that green treatment on it for extra measure and built the entire frame out of it. Supposedly, all we have to do is apply an oil coat every 5-10 years and the wood should be preserved well. So, burning this post I think will help to last longer not indefinitely. It was green wood so I dont know what it is really going to do in the long run. Hope that is clearer than mud. Maybe someone can chime in.
