Jim Lynskey works closely with the donor awareness site Save9Lives to raise people’s awareness and understanding of organ donation. “I’ve been aiming to raise awareness for organ donation with Save9Lives (www.save9lives.com/) which works in partnership with The NHS. I formed the campaign when I was transplant listed back in 2015 - it was the fact that one organ donor can potentially save 9 people which really stuck with me amongst the sobering statistics of current donor shortages in the UK. I’ve been unable to access a new heart so far, so I’m now being kept alive with an electric heart pump. I thought I would drive the frustrated energy associated with my experiences into this vibrant Save9Lives campaign message, and I’ve since received some very humbling support from many within the music industry. As a fan, it’s a huge honour to work with Lewis alongside his incredible Someone You Loved video. Register as an organ donor at Save9Lives (www.organdonation.nhs.uk/regi...) will allow us to track how many people have been inspired by Lewis’ powerful message illustrated in his video release. I just found it recently and it has touched my heart and soul.
This made me cry. Two years ago my brother passed away and became an organ donor. I've never heard from the recipients but knowing there are people out there having a better chance at life fills me with pride. RIP Paul.

This is such a beautiful song and video, I play it over and over. I received a liver and kidney from an unknown donor 7 years ago. I wrote to the family but never received a response, I can only imagine the pain they felt. It would have been nice to be able to communicate with them, but I understand. I am so lucky to be alive and a day doesn't go by that I don't think about the donor. It still bothers me that someone had to die in order for me to live. I am so grateful and I take very good care of the organs that were given to me out of love by someone. God bless all of the organ donors of the world.

My grandmother was my rock, my everything, when she passed away from Alzheimer's in 2013 at the age of 90 it near killed me still have not got over the loss of her 💔

I had a cat that I called my White Kinght. Brut could tell when I was going to have a seizure, and would make me lie down. He would go back and forth from my room to daughter's room all night, so he could sleep with both of us. Brut got cancer. It came on fast, and we didn't know he was sick. The morning he passed, he came to us and we held him together, knowing this was his end. I had never felt such love from any any of our fur friends as I did from Brut. He was my hero, our friend, our family, our love. Every time I hear this song, it makes me cry and miss Brutus. What a beautiful video, raising awareness for organ donation.

Beautiful storyline……tears pour down when she unbuttons her shirt and places his hand on the scar. Another brief but beautiful scene is when the two strangers pass each other in the Park. Just shows you (and teaches you) that you don’t know what another person is going through at the same time when you are going through things. Just be kind🌸

This is beautiful. Our 17 year old son’s heart was donated to a father with two daughters.
This is long but I need to get it out.
It must feel incredible to meet the people who benefited from such a gift. Thirty seven years ago my seventeen year old brother passed from a brain Aneurysm. A year before that he came down with Meningitis which the doctors believed was a disease cluster because our older sister also had it. For some reason they did a scan of his brain and found the Aneurysm, he declined surgery because they gave him a 50% rate of surviving and told him it could happen at any time but he could live into his eighties or nineties with it.
He made our parents promise not to tell his other seven siblings because he thought it would change the way we treated him. He spent part of Christmas break with me and one evening he started talking about dying and told me he wanted his organs donated if anything should happen to him. I told him that was really nice of him but he was young and had a long time to live. He told another sister and two girlfriends...I’m guessing he must have told his buddies who were with him in the mountains riding dirt bikes when the Aneurysm broke. One drove while the other friend resuscitated him until they arrived at a small town fire station.
Our family was an hour away arriving at another brothers house to celebrate his birthday. We all made it to the hospital not knowing how seriously injured he was, thinking he’d crashed and broken a limb. Later that evening after we’d been told he was brain dead we’d gone to our parents house not far from the hospital to get something to eat and set up shifts to be with him. Our dad said he wanted to say something and he didn’t want to be interrupted (this was a man you didn’t interrupt anyway). He said he thought we should donate James body to become an organ donor. We agreed as a family and those he’d asked to make sure his organs were donated told how he’d asked that we made sure his wishes were respected.
My oldest sisters were on shift in the middle of the night when he went into Cardiac arrest, he was resuscitated as they prepared to fly him to Stanford in California the next day. As they were wheeling him to the ambulance our family and his friends stood as a loving gauntlet to say goodbye.
I don’t know very many seventeen year olds who would think of giving that kind of a gift and making sure it happened. RIP Jamie

We lost my dad today, and I am so thankful that he got another 15 years because of a heart donor. I pray for thanks to the family that gave the gift to my dad who got to meet his grandchildren. I hate this song with a passion. Every time I turn the radio on I hear it. He sounds mentally disabled how he sings, for example, listen to the way he says 'somebody', it is weird. I genuinely do not understand it.
After losing my wife of 31 years to cancer in June 2019, this song somehow resonates with me. I remain devastated & heartbroken. This just brings me to tears.

@@hjkhhjkh3635 The lyrics clearly refer to an unrequited love who he gave everything to but was not the same on the other side. The video is totally the opposite though. He is a widower remembering her wife through the video and the lady with the scar got her heart donated from the deceased wife and he is happy to meet her and her family.

Deserves an Oscar for a 4 minute music video, portraying more emotions than some actors can in their career.
I miss him as Doctor Who. I think of Peter Capaldi as not just an actor.....but as the kindest man in the universe.

Can you believe I've just discovered this? Watched the Netflix documentary on him last night and discovered he wrote this for his Grandmother who passed away. Just blubbed my way all through this. Reminds me of my Dad at home all alone when Mum got sick and went into hospital. Bloody heartbreaking. Truly written with devine inspiration. I'm a metal head at heart but this song is special. And btw...people stop expecting him to write another song as good as this one! Nobody expected Led Zeppelin to write another stairway to heaven...it's just not going to happen LOL
