It is a really, really great song, still on my playlist, but the approach they were given for the live performance was just a big no. They are singing about heartbreak and losing someone dear to them in super mini-skirts while doing flirty moves and smirks into the camera. This could have had an easy hand-movement choreography while they are behind mics without all of that smoke and wind, bring the hidden back-vocalists and some props on stage maybe, and they could have even worn elegant suits instead of the skirts and it would have been an amazing performance.

Because weirdly enough the fireworks at the end get picked up much louder than any of the voices or music - which shouldn't be the case if the sound was recorded properly - the surrounding noise on stage should not get picked up by any mic. The sound mixing is way off.

If u watch some of their early interviews, most decisions, schedule, promotion and like everything had been organzied by their management. They were prepared to perform on stage, but not to become self-employed musicians that handle their business. I haven't seen much of the comeback time between 2007 and 2009, but the few I know showed less originality than in the beginning of their journey as a group. But failing on stage? All of them are able to sing and they delivered for years. I don't know what had happenend that they performed like this. Haven't seen them like this anywhere else. Might have been technical problems. I think most of them are very self-critical type of persons and they don't seem to be unhappy or unsatisfied at all on stage. So they might really have had problems with in ears or something that they couldn't really adjust group-vocals to their common standard. Strange and kind of sad in the end. From a German perspective it's even more weird that a Lena has won the competition and the No Angels failed like this. They don't sing worse.
This performance is indeed very unusual for the girls. Maybe, as you say, technical problems or the excitement. But maybe it's a mixture of both. This must have been their biggest performance in terms of audience reach.

Why's everybody saying that the vocals were too loud?? They were too bad! That's the problem. If you have a good vocal range and you're a good singer, things can get quite loud at times but it never sounds off like this.

They needed a far more commanding stage presence and better group-vocals and they'd have been higher up as it is a song that has huge potential! A small tweak here and there, and Germany might have finished higher!

As a girl group, it is best to find a song in which the voices harmonize nicely. They could be glad that Lucy is in the group. The 12 points from Bulgaria helped to keep them from worse. All in all, I like the girls, but it wasn't their best day.

Ja, da stimme ich voll zu. Das Problem waren hier eindeutig fehlerhafte Mixe auf den In-Ear-Kopfhörern, die heutzutage als Monitor dienen. Wenn man sich als Sänger/in nicht oder nicht laut genug auf dem Monitor hört, kann man nur noch versuchen, nach Gefühl über den Stimmsitz die ungefähre Tonhöhe treffen und neigt dann dazu, den Pitch nach oben zu treiben, insbesondere unter Anspannung. Die eigene Stimme nicht richtig zu hören bringt selbst die allersichersten Profi-Sänger/innen von der richtigen Tonhöhe ab, das kann dir jeder Studiomusiker und Toningenieur bestätigen.

Their solo performances were alright, though you could tell Nadja was nervous as hell. Their harmonies are usually very much on point, but absolutely fail here. Nadja and Vanessa arent audible in the chorus, while Sandy was already put on "too loud" due to her adlips in the end. The background singers also absolutely did not fit to their voices and even as a huge fan, man the dancing was tacky.

Ja, da stimme ich voll zu. Das Problem waren hier eindeutig fehlerhafte Mixe auf den In-Ear-Kopfhörern, die heutzutage als Monitor dienen. Wenn man sich als Sänger/in nicht oder nicht laut genug auf dem Monitor hört, kann man nur noch versuchen, nach Gefühl über den Stimmsitz die ungefähre Tonhöhe treffen und neigt dann dazu, den Pitch nach oben zu treiben, insbesondere unter Anspannung. Die eigene Stimme nicht richtig zu hören bringt selbst die allersichersten Profi-Sänger/innen von der richtigen Tonhöhe ab, das kann dir jeder Studiomusiker und Toningenieur bestätigen.

Their solo performances were alright, though you could tell Nadja was nervous as hell. Their harmonies are usually very much on point, but absolutely fail here. Nadja and Vanessa arent audible in the chorus, while Sandy was already put on "too loud" due to her adlips in the end. The background singers also absolutely did not fit to their voices and even as a huge fan, man the dancing was tacky.

They’ve all got such good voices when singing solo but when together it’s so out of tune, I think it must have been a technical issue perhaps they couldn’t hear each other. I used to love No Angels before they performed in the Eurovision :)
I think the mix of the mic was definitely off, because Sandy (the blonde one) sounds louder than all the other three together... which wouldn't happen if the sound mix was right (I doubt her voice is actually louder than three professional singers singing all at once). It also seems like they don't hear each other in the right volume or else they would adjust their voices better to each other - they are usually very good at harmonizing, so it's really unusual they sound this disharmonic. Even more ridiculous is that the fireworks at the end get picked up louder on the mic than the entire vocal performance or backing track - you actually shouldn't be able to hear the fireworks that loud if the sound mixing is done correctly... Something on the overall sound recording was extremely off.
They clealy had some sound issues and coulnd't hear themselves properly.
Listen to their Celebration Tour 2022 in Wuhlheide Berlin. They sound fabulous. Washes over me, Something about us and Someday are my favorites :)
