Oh I just love thrifting, except as you say, with higher and higher prices they are not exactly "thrift" stores any more! The Franz porcelain ladybug and floral piece at nearly $25 was very expensive but they do sell well on ebay and elsewhere 😊

The cobalt blue handkerchief vase was beautiful and worth the money. When you drop flowers in that shape of vase you instantly get a spread design in the shape a florist would create by cutting stems with no effort from you. I LOVE handkerchief vases. They are not easy to find.

That was expensive. I live in San Antonio, and our thrift store is getting that way, too. I saw a jewelry jar at Texas Thrift full of beaded stuff like Mardi gras beads for $100! Goodwill prices all the clothes the same even if they need repairs or damage. $8 jeans and dresses, 6$ tops, brick brack is even more expensive even if it's broken. Walmart still has the best prices in the clearance section, and Ross is still cheap. In my mind, thrift stores are not in competition with resale sites like eBay and Facebook market because Thrift stores don't work at finding, cleaning, storeing, repairing, or even sourcing things to sale. They work with so much volume that they should be less expensive than resale. They should have prices like Sam's club or Costco because of the amount of stuff they have to sell.

In Southern CA, Savers, aka Value Village in the PNW, gives us 20% off coupons whenever you bring in donations. So even though the prices are high just like the rest of the thrift stores, you can get some deals. They have 30% off on Tuesdays for seniors, and the 50% off color tag of week. Sometimes items are priced reasonable all on their own. The prices have definitely gone up at thrift stores, like everywhere else. I have noticed that the Savers store is way busier than the Salvation Army stores in my area, and people are lined up making donations. I haven't gone into the Goodwill stores for a long time.

Considering that the thrift stores overhear are supposed to be cheap for the people who are poor, I’ve noticed that they have been putting there prices up. Sometimes you can buy the clothes cheaper in kmart. As for the rest well they are way to high, especially as they were donated for free. Take care and thank you for sharing 👍🙏❤️

I live in Virginia and the thrift stores here are very expensive you will find item from the dollar store at 2 and 3 dollars !!! It’s funny but real not to mention good quality items. Furniture very expensive.

Their prices for used items is too high. That's why their shelves are so stocked. Nobody wants to overpay. They'd sell much more with lower prices.

Thrift stores and flea market's pricings in my area (Baltimore, Maryland) are getting out of hand. Flea markets are getting worse. I purchased 3 vintage sterling silver pendants and the booth owner wanted to sell $75 for all 3. Her father, who was also selling with her that day, intervened once he heard that price and said, "Absolutely not, do NOT charge that young lady that much for those pieces,", and I ended up paying $35 for all 3. 2 of those pieces were Mexican sterling silver, the other piece was a sterling silver resin filled pendant with flowers. He told me if I keep coming back, he would bring more vintage sterling and give me deals. It's definitely more about finding the right locations and being willing to drive further out if it means you get better deals.
