Joseph, great job for using your platform to help educate listeners! As you said, galamsey envrionmental problems is not an NDC vs NPP issue. It's a Ghanaian public and environmental issue, first and foremost.

This was great. It's a serious matter (but I also had a good laugh 🤭) and we need to keep sensitizing and educating everyone about the dangers involved.

You can access the study concerning the cyanide levels in yam below (it's not allowing me to share a link so I am sharing the study title, author and year of publication):
"Human health risk assessment of cyanide levels in water and tuber crops from Kenyasi, a mining community in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana" by Kwaansa-Ansah et al, 2017.
With regard to the effects of mercury and the amount of mercury released per year in Ghana as a result of Galamsey, you can find more information in the studies below:
      1. "Human Health Risk Assessment of Artisanal Miners Exposed to Toxic Chemicals in Water and Sediments in the Prestea Huni Valley District of Ghana" by Obiri et al, 2016.
      2. "Contamination of Water Resources in Tarkwa Mining Area of Ghana: A Minor Field Study for Master of Science Thesis" by Asklund et al, 2005.
