Come join my Facebook Group "eBike Addicts". I'll be actively posting updates about the channel, things I have going on behind the scenes, and video plans. Also, you can share your photos/videos there with me as well. I'd love to see your ebikes!

Pavement is the worst for ice under snow . I live in Yukon on dirt roads and at times even that can get ice under so studs are essential. The ground seems harder when you hit it as it is frozen . I deflate tires 5 to 8 pounds for going down skidoo trails. I have 2 three motor ebikes , 4 inch tires on one and 5 inch tires that float on snow. Don't accelerate in corners with AWD.

Good advice! Wish I had a lot more snow over dirt and a ski up front

Also...i use studded Dilingers the entire winter. Those Kendas suck on amy surface let me tell it. Especially wet snow.

awd with studded tires is the way to go with snow, but even then you have to be careful with the front wheel losing traction.

Good video. We might need to see more of Laura the dog to get us all through the winter. About to get below-zero temps here in MN for a few days, so no riding for awhile here!

I bought some snow chains from SlipNot traction . Don’t know how they work because they sent me the wrong size and then said they will not send me new ones unless I measure the wheel myself . So , I don’t recommend anyone dealing with them . Shout it from the rooftops community !!

That's what i tell people. It's why i dont have a dual motor ebike. I commute year round in South Dakota. The front wheel will spin out on you constantly in any snow/ice beacuse of lack of weight. You dont even wanna talk about the slush on the roads.... wipeout city.

I tried this with my Power Goat. I almost crashed a time or too with those street tires. What’s bad here they mix dirt in with the salt so it just makes a muddy mess all over you and the bike. I think you should name the drone Hedwig after the snowy owl in Harry Potter.

You had way too much air in the tires for those conditions. 4-5 psi instead of 10 would have made a big difference. Also I'd recommend just using the rear brake in loose snow like that. I think instead of a rear hub, a 1000w mid-drive like a BBSHD and the ability to use the gear ratios would have been a big advantage and add a lot more torque to the rear wheel. Then just use the front motor for added traction as needed.

nice one man Lol its the worst when it's that wet and sloppy snow!! its always hard to do much of anything in the sloppy slush snow. Funny when the drone crashes into the tree hahah. Bike did pretty good despite the conditions. Good plan keeping some feet down, be ready to fall at any moment in those conditions haha. Crawling speeds only. Good work !!

    • @princeroyal195
      @princeroyal195 หลายเดือนก่อน

Might as well have some spikes in your boots as well. Keeping your feet down at the sides instead of on the pedals won't be helpful if your feet slide out from the compacted snow aka ice

I bet it's fun riding in the snow, but I'd really struggle on my 26x1.50 tyres 😂 I'd just spin out all over the place anyway 'cos my tyres are Schwalbe 'marathon' just built for speed with pretty much zero tread for any snow traction...
I bet it's terrifying when the front wheels constantly spinning out haha
Would be a good laugh though 😅 I really love the frame on this melod bike, just looks so cool, especially with the red rims too.

@@mickyb.8014 There are two approaches to slick stuff:
      1) Float over it with relatively low traction and wide tires.
      2) Use skinny tires with higher traction and dig your way to the road surface. They used to make skinny tires with the tread impregnated with walnut shells.
You can also put zip ties around your tires.

They work fine as long as you don't do anything drastic. I leave my studded tires on from first winter all the way to spring when I know we won't get any snow...then I swap them out for road tires. I've had the same Dillinger's for 5 years now...tread basically still looks new...and I buy new studs and swap them out every two years. On pavement they are fine.
