Cute and entertaining. I do agree that the narrator 's voice can get piercing when she gets loud but other than that she does a good job with inflection.
Clever and funny made more so by the narrators pacing and inflection. She sure stepped into smart crazyish character. Thx for the laughs and heart moves.
Fitz's magic self is very neurodivergent... Including the voice as narrated. I appreciate it. I'm also saddened by the many ablist complaints about her narration... Perhaps they could use auditory sensory supports like the neurodivergent need to use on the daily.
Love the "reader" ... this book couldn't hv come "aLive" without the-voice ... no-really , all the people whining about the voice ... the voice, is about the only voice that can embody the "protagonist" ... Thank You for the-voice ...💗🥰💗
This was brilliant! So funny but serious and heartwarming when it needed to be. Unlike others, I know how to turn the volume down on the device I was listening on so it wasn’t too loud. I did think the narrator paused in odd places but humans are human.
Absolutely loved this it was funny and a little sad (she lost her best friend ,but still can see and talk to him) Can't wait for the next in the series
Love this book, it’s amazing and hilarious also heartbreaking considering she lost her childhood friend Who was her best friend. I’m really enjoying this. As for the narration it actually reminds of one of my Friends who when she speaks she sounds just like Audrey. Thank u Jane, can’t wait for more❤️
Superb book! Very enjoyable and lovely characters and much fun to listen! ❤❤❤ Yes, the narrators voice was a little high pitched, but...she is very good narrator regardless. All the other voices were really really good. Anyway, I really really really enjoyed this audiobook!!! Very good story and interesting start for a series...and I WANT MORE! 😅 So much potential! Slowly becoming aware that the "normal" world is full of ghosts, witches and talking cats while solving murders and drooling after hansom detective...what else could you want??? 😅
The story is cute but I have to agree with the other comments regarding the narration. Her voice is very high pitched (ear piercing for me) and she does seem to be shouting all the time. I don’t mean to be rude or mean, but good narration is key. I'm listening on because I'm invested in the story. My ears and head will be glad when it's done. 🗣👂🙉
True. The voice is grating on the ear when the narrator reads the part of Audrey. However, I want to hear the story so volumes on low and I'll grit my teeth.
@@veronicaelsegood5175 lol I did the same because I listened through. The story is cute. If it could be redone with a better narrator, it'd be great...imo only ofc.
It's so true, I usually try to never complain about a free book but I love to listen to these to calm down and get ready for sleep and I just can't to this one at bedtime. I like the story so I will find time to listen but I just can't take the ear piercing shrillness at bedtime. 😅❤
I didn't mind the narrator to be honest. She seemed to fit the idea i had for audrey .Clutzy and lively .She let you know how she felt. I liked Ben and His kitty.
As much as I wanted to I could not even give this a try, It only took a few seconds for that 'nails on the chalkboard voice to see me off....and as another commenter said. said "good narration is key" My ears are still ringing.😖
Character reminds me of a friend of my mom's who constantly had mishaps. She managed to get herself locked IN her house. They bought live crabs at the beach, 1 got out of the basket and climbed between the back seat and the trunk. Where it died. They had to sell the car for junk. I have many other stories too
The Ghost Detective Series is one of my favourite Cozy book series & I own all 9 books & love everything Jane Hinchey has written. I have hundreds of audio's, but I can't listen to this narrator. Ive tried 3 times over the years. I hate being rude/nasty about someone's hard work, but want 2 be 💯 % honest with Jane, audios are expensive & if they're no good, people think the book is no good too. Unfortunately The narrator it's too loud & her voice is too shrill, doesn'tsound like Audrey to me. Sorry Jane, If I was you, I'd hire a new narrator & start again, this has worked with many other Indie Author's I listen too.
Why didn't they ask the cat who did it? Why didnt the ghost listen in to inn owners phone call whilst the female detective walked out of the first interview?
Loved this but please could the narrator calm Audrey 's voice a bit. It's too shrill and unnatural and loud. Everyone else's character is voiced fine and I love the cat. I look forward to more of this ( hopefully) series.
She's got a set of seven after this that I've seen so far. I just finished book one on Google play, and am so addicted. I'm looking forward to book 2, ok to be honest the rest of the series😘🥰😁 vs
There are now 9 of these books, its called the Ghost Detective Series, but not all 9 are in audio, I think only 4 audios are showing ATM, but unfortunately they're not in order, not the authors fault, its the company that distributed them, but all 9 ebooks/paperbacks including 'Life Ghost On' which was just released this week Oct 26th 2023 are available
Shame the narrator is so shrill and keeps blasting out the beginning of each of Audrey’s sentences. Constantly making me wince. Not decided if I can stand it enough to finish the book yet.
I've read all 9 of these books & love, love, love them & the author Jane Hinchey, actuallyI have all 40 of her books. You should try ebook or paperback versions, u'd love it, I promise. I can't listen to the narrator for the same reasons as you, I have a few hundred audio's, but won't listen to this, I hate putting down someone's hard work, but this is Ms Hinchey's hard work & money too.
the story seems interesting, but nearly 2 hours into it, I can't get over the narrator's screeching! WTF?!?! she's not all that good either. trying another one from this author
I love this series, but can't listen to this narrator. All 9 books in this series are fantastic & I have all 40 of her other books. Jane Hinchey is a Cozy Queen, but her urban fantasy books are soooo much better & are outstanding.
WHY IS THE READER SCREAMING THE STORY? The actual drama is being lost in the finger nails down a blackboard like delivery. As for the varying british açcent of the cat ? Hmmm 😟
I suggest you read without the narration, I have all 9 in this series & all 40 of her books. So much better without the ear piercing yells of narration.
Eek. The "OMG!" valley-girl voice annoys the hell out of me. It doesn't fit the adorable klutzy-girl head character either. Please find a new narrator!!!!a
As much as I wanted to I could not even give this a try, It only took a few seconds for that 'nails on the chalkboard voice to see me off....and as another commenter said. said "good narration is key" My ears are still ringing.😖

Just started listening. I like the active fireplace.
Bravo! Very well done!

The story was great and the narrator brings it to life
Thanks. Love the plot, main female character and the perfectly fitting voice.
Love the "reader" ... this book couldn't hv come "aLive" without the-voice ...
no-really ,
all the people whining about the voice ...
the voice, is about the only voice that can embody the "protagonist" ...
Thank You for the-voice ...💗🥰💗
Love the narrator. Thank you for freely sharing this with us. 🙏🏼💕
Can you please post more of this series. Ms Hinchey
I truly enjoyed this book. I had a lot of laughs. I am so looking forward to the next one. Waiting with anticipation.
Fantastic book!! The voice of the narrator is fine. Thank you so very much for sharing!
Clever, hilarious, and just a joy of a book 😊 Thank you for sharing. I will look out for the next in the series. I look forward to it.
This was brilliant! So funny but serious and heartwarming when it needed to be.

Loved the plot
Please upload the next part in the series
Love it when you find a good book unexpectedly.
Loved the book. Loved the narrator, even if she was loud. Could have turned volume down but she read story with so much feeling! TFS
Glad you enjoyed it!
I loved this book so much I purchased the series. Thank you for lots of laughs and mystery.
Ooooh...there is more this stuff??? I think that I want to purchase all the books too. I got addicted already 😅
Loved the funny humor and the whole book thank you
I enjoyed the book and the narrator’s voice suited the character. Well done and look forward to the next video.

I really enjoyed this audiobook. Funny, sassy and witchy 😍 Thank you for sharing
Realy funny book. Love it
I enjoyed this story. Looking forward to the next. 😊
More to come!
Very enjoyable 😃. Reminded me a wee bit of the '70's series Randall and Hopkert on British TV. Thank you
Thank you
This was a fun book - thank you
Quirky, fun and brilliant narration. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely loved this it was funny and a little sad (she lost her best friend ,but still can see and talk to him) Can't wait for the next in the series
This was so very cute. I can't wait for the next installment.❤
Thank you so much for sharing this was so good. :)

"Who was her best friend"? Did you actually LISTEN to the book, Mami??😂
Loved the story and characters. Than you ❤
I like the narration, I think it is very dynamic and energetic. Maybe not ideal for people listening to it while doing other stuff, but OK.
Love it thank you. 🥰

Turn the volume down, her expressive voice is perfection. ❤❤❤

Better than AI anyday
Great story and I think the narrators voice suits the character to a T.
I like the narrator thanks for the free book and for not using AI 🎉
I love this book, Thank you

Erm…Audrey did ask the cat if he saw who did it. He said reported he did not, as he was antagonizing the dog nextdoor.
Loved this but please could the narrator calm Audrey 's voice a bit. It's too shrill and unnatural and loud. Everyone else's character is voiced fine and I love the cat. I look forward to more of this ( hopefully) series.
Thanks for the feedback @veronicaelsegood5175, I'll pass that on to my narrator for the next book. xx
Is their a book two?
I love this! Is there a 2nd book?

The narrator needs to tone done the the yelling .
Is there a book 2?
Beryl, was someone reading "The Hound of the Baskervilles" before writing this? Because that's the only time I think I have ever read/heard that name.
You have never read the beryl and Edwina mystery series??? 😮 Check them out. You're infer treat.
❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉

💯% It's aggrivating that she YELLS everything, throwing teh words at us! It's awful and uncomfortable.
Who wants to hear ads in a book???
Come back Dick van Dyke! If you know you know.
Like she is straining her vocal cords. Sore throat?
Couldn't get past the narrator's highly annoying voice. Too bad--the story may be great, but I'm very sensitive to voices.
Same. I physically can't even make it a minute
Sorry could not finish this. The story is great so far but the narrators voice is ear piercing, really uncomfortable to listen to, and stop shouting!
Try switching ambient mode off in the video settings.
Shrill and loud, really anoying. Can't listen to it. Kind of juvenile.
I suggest you read without the narration, I have all 9 in this series & all 40 of her books. So much better without the ear piercing yells of narration.
Her voice makes this book impossible. I cannot listen to this.
So disappointed. Not a 'cozy' in my mind. Using the Lords name in vain disqualifies IMHO.
Eek. The "OMG!" valley-girl voice annoys the hell out of me. It doesn't fit the adorable klutzy-girl head character either. Please find a new narrator!!!!a
Not a bad story, but that voice has got to go!
I thought cozy mysteries are supposed to be clean, this one has too much cussing to be a cozy.
The reading is great. Lots of character. Lively. Having the right narrator is key! 🩷
