I run ultras as a type 1. ..but haven't tried 100 yet. 50k is fairly easy to manage with the right precautions and training.

there must be only a handful on t1's who do ultra running; I'm hoping to be one of those soon (my running isn't "ultra" yet but I'm working on it). thanks for the info! it's great to see that it's not impossible and someone's out there doing it

That is one of the best interviews about ultra running with T1D that I've seen. Thank you so much for sharing it. I have had T1D for almost 50 years and I'm a keen runner. Just started doing ultras a few years ago and looking forward to another summer - not ready to take on a 100 mile race yet, may never be ready for that! but consistently doing multi-day events and races of about 50-75k. Thank you for this!!

I really want to get into running however every time I try it I go low very fast, regardless of carbs consumed before hand

I don’t understand, if you are too high wouldn’t the jogging that you are doing bring it down? So there are type 1 sufferers out there that take insulin with out eating but to just bring it down? Wow I’m lucky as hell then coz I have type 1 but I only ever take insulin before a high carb meal.
