- On June 19, Kendrick Lamar united West Coast artists for his “Ken & Friends” Pop Out, Juneteenth concert. For this one I linked with @Wayno119 and Travis from @thehbuc to discuss!

seeing black hippy on stage healed something in me
That was great!!!
Khan
End off! ❤❤❤
Son in the teal shorts is wildin 😂
😭😭😭
Right... He's cap... whoever he is
😂
I was thinking the same thing! "What more do you want from me? !" (in my Tyrese voice 😂) That concert was 🔥!
@@w1lsons482 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Rick Ross played the internet games. He was Kendrick's digital street team.
Ha!
Dre introducing Not Like Us was Legendary 🔥
It was!!
Drake could never. Wayne can’t do anything Bc he’s not from Canada and drake isn’t from Louisiana
The Dog Pound is on tour. I was not expecting them to pop out. Also the Game not being there is expected, he is a wild card and burnt bridges. Also it was not just a moment for LA but for Hip Hop and the world. This was broadcast around the world! Nothing like this has ever happened.
It was great. You’re right i didn’t check the tour dates
Dogg pound just uploaded a new music video to TH-cam like 30 minutes after this was posted
@@RobMarkman when you said you wanted to see Game (in an earlier video) I laughed. I said nah, Game chose his side.
@@johnwerner69 Snoop also just posted a video from Canada giving a shotout to Kendrick for the concert.
“Putting on” and getting a “look” aren’t the same. Thank you Wayno for breaking that down.
I appreciate you my G
Right. Kendrick got a Jay z feature in 2012 on bdkmv remix. Drake ain’t have nothing to do with that.
Whoever gassed Drake to beef with Kendrick is a traitor. Everyone who know Kendrick knew this would only end in one way.
Not a traitor, but a savior.
Kendrick did say to Drake that he needs to check the people in his circle.
I almost cut it off when wayno said there was no way Drake could've won. Im tired of this narrative, cuz neither drake or his fans thought this before kendrick responded. but now seeing what kendrick did now they say no matter what drake was losing. NO...your excuses are proving even YOU know Kendrick OUTRAPPED Drake and won. It wasn't just "tea, gossip, and lies" or "bots". Kendrick barred him up and he lost lyrically. Family matters was drakes best performance of the beef, but nowhere near top 2. It's 5 at best and that's only if we're adding "Like That" to the conversation.
That’s a fact
💯
Yup, before Kendrick dropped, they was saying he can’t keep up with the internet trolling & writes too slow. They was even saying he wouldn’t drop anything for months if at all.
If you felt cartoons n’ cereal and dna back in the day, you knew Drake couldnt win if he pointed that gun at drake. And he did.
He’s a Jay stan. So I get it. I got a homie just like him. Drake learn a lot of that bs from Jay imo. Frfr my homie ain’t even hit me back fr during the battle cuz Kenny was cookin dat ngga.
Schoolboy Q didn’t walk like a normal MFer at any point once he showed up
Lol
He wasn't walking, he was stomping! Thats what Hoover Groovers do.
@@ibalance925yeeerna!
😂😂😂 indeed
Honestly - the lack of choreography was what made this show so perfect. I've seen him on Mr Morale - fantastic. But I didn't even NOTICE the minimalism because the energy was so hyped! And I was watching on TV as an east coast born and bred. This wasn't about surprises - this was about celebrating the new, the old, and the current. Like, this wasn't a tour this was marinating in west coast blackness. That's IT.
Homie on the left had some horrendous takes
And he was doing too much over-talking
Horrible
Facts
To open wit “Euphoria” is insanity and extreme levels of pettiness!😭🤝🏽🐐🔥
Really was the right way to go!
That wasnt petty at all. If he had pictures of Drake on Degrassi and footage of him complaining about a tuna sandwich...that wouldve been petty.
Drake didn’t put Kendrick on.
At that time, Drake was a big artist, but he was still young money cash money the brand. A Drake feature didn’t push your career to new heights at the time. A Wayne feature would’ve at the time.
Personally, I found out about Kendrick from the 2011 BET cypher, his verse stood out to me, so I went into his discography and been a fan since.
A lot of my friends didn’t find out about Kendrick until The recipe or GKMC that buried alive feature didn’t do much for notoriety.
Same. After that cypher, I immediately went and downloaded O.D. and S.80. Lol
Yes!!! I knew about Kendrick separate from Drake and I'm from Toronto. So I don't like the Drake put him on convo. Burns my soul 😆. Drake may have exposed him more but we knew about Kendrick separately. Poetic Justice was my favorite song and I forgot about it after TPAB...Kendrick's songs kept getting better and better.
First song I’ve ever heard from Kendrick was Rigamortus. After I heard that, I had to know who this kid was and I’m from Jersey.
"you just a mascot on a Kim Kardashian ass shot"
I didn’t expect to see a lot of “friends” because this was a short noticed project and other artists likely had other commitments.
True!
And besides that, this event was designed to showcase the past, present and future of the West Coast. Inviting Rick Ross, The Weeknd and others who are allied with the West but aren't rooted in the West would have been too much of a distraction and I think Ross, The Weekend and other allies knew that deep down and were more than content just to show up in the crowd.
Trav sounded nuts damn near the whole 59 minutes 😂
Lmaooooooo
Right. 🤣🤦🏾♂️
he lowkey had the "arthur fist" the whole time while they praiasing Kdot..
Yea he did 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wildin crazy 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sir in the turquoise shorts please respectfully exit this conversation. This is above your level.
I hate when people say they fans of both and it’s clear that they love one and occasionally like the other. Trav needs to stop the cap he sounded damn near like Akademiks
He sound compromised ? Lol
I started the convo chanting “ovhoe” 😂
I a NY dude, and i TOTALLY disagree with Travis take on the show. While we had expectations and hopes of who would show up, as Hip-Hop heads, the show is exactly what it should have been. The west doesnt get looks like that often, so it was beautiful and intelligent to promote artists of the new west, as well as the unity that can be had. It was 🔥 outside of seeing Snoop & OT get their walk on, I wouldn't change a thing
Agreed
Once I saw Dj Hed and Mustard…I knew this was a west coast only vibe and I respect it
Period!
Gotta respect it. Just got off the phone with Hed 10 mins ago too. Thats my bro
As a dude born and raised in Los Angeles, I'm walking around with my chest out like never before. The west is really up right now.
Kendrick with the win, Q and Vince with quite possibly the two best rap albums this year, then we get this amazing show. He not from LA, but if Nitty beats Lux, won't nobody be able to say shit to west coast niggas for YEARS lmao. I'm gonna be living off this shit like Al Bundy and his 4 TDs at Polk High 😂😂😂
You should be walking with your chest out!!! Hell yeah!
Polk High Legend!
As a girl born, raised, and living on the East Coast, I'm walking around with my chest out like never before. Like, blackity black chest out LOL
“This is not a podcast” then bro proceeds to drop a fire podcast like we wouldn’t notice 😭😭😭
Honestly Rob we need more shows and conversations like this no shade to anyone else but i love seeing folks who actually live and work this hip hop shit talk about it
Thank you fr!!
The game and Freddie gibbs two rappers who let their anitcs overshadow their music
Damn
@@RobMarkman im just saying tho! They talented but damn they always doing some ish outside of music that have people looking at them differently
As a big Gibbs fan I feel this x10 smh. I can make a legitimate argument about him being top 3 this generation but his bs outside of the music has lowkey tarnished his legacy
Fred is a God MC that will never change
Lmao my mans in the teal shorts going out bad. wtf is he talking about. 😭😭
I heard Not Like Us , at least 6 times on street. In England 😅
Its a real hit record, with bots or without them.
Facts
😂not like us was played in a champions league semifinal in Paris France ain't no bots doing that ish
It's played at Disneyland ! what bots? lol
It plays on radio stations in New Zealand every fourth song, bots ain't made it to New Zealand yet 😂
That Trav guy being there was not needed lol
I think Kendrick did amazing given he had less than a month to prepare for a show, during concert season and during Paris Fashion Week.
Same!!!
Bruh tripping, Drake ain’t put Dot on. section 80 was already out, OD was already out. It was a big look but we were already in tune.. him and Cole was already moving, hi-power, black hippy. we got to stop
Agreed
This revisionist history of drake putting Kendrick on is wild. I'd argue Kendricks feature on games red album had a bigger impact on Kenny's career than that drake feature
You known Snoop,The Dogg Pound, and Xzibit were probably on tour, So maybe they couldn't be there. Plus I like that newer talent was on the stage.
I also like to think that just Dre being there means more to Kendrick, because it was Dre that took him under his wing and truly brought out the superstar in him.
I agree. I like that the newer generation got shine
Yeah they are touring in Canada rn. Snoop made a post today giving the Dot his flowers.
Would have loved to see Snoop up there tho.
Snoop drop a video and say kdot is the king of the west
Put you on is crazy. Snoop/Dre anointed him as the King of the West in 2011 before Take Care
Rob and wayno together 🔥🔥🔥
That’s my brother.
Black Hippy on stage was something else
Agreed!!
🥲
Love the show, Mark. Don’t want to see your friend in the green hoochie daddy shorts ever again.
Yall gotta leave my guy alone 😂
I was lucky enough to be there, Kendrick is really the great unifier and should be Recognize as one of the greats if not the greatest #onewest
Lucky!!!
Snoop and the Dogg Pound were on tour. DJ Quik too. They were all in Canada funny enough.
Yall should’ve had somebody else on beside dude on the left.
Cooking my boy. Damn lol
So proud of my lil bro DOT! WEST COAST!!! Wish Neighborhood Nip could’ve been with us.
He wanted it to be LA California West Coast on that stage only
Trav straight out wildin 😅
Yall killing my boy lol
😂
why are we acting like drake "Gave" kendrick anything? like it wasn't a mutually beneficial relationship. acting like drake gave kendrick poetic justice as a kind gesture? or a spot on his tour just because he's a nice guy? no. Drake knows it's a good look for him too. he didn't put kendrick on at all. GKMC was happening and blowing up with or without drake. had nothing to do with drakes tour or a few singles.
Because every person who thinks that way has weirdo tendencies as well.
Rob Markman never fails!! Respect ✊🏾
Respect!!
we need a recap by yourself too, please big bro
I got you. Probably tomorrow
One of many reviews I’ve been waiting on
I have nothing but Gratitude… thank you
which other review we need to wait for, hook me up bro
yes yes sir
Him not bringing on people not from the West Coast was the point. This was more of a West victory lap that it was a bashing Aubrey concert.
Drake : I get more love in the city that you're from
Kenny : ayo hold my chamomile tea real quick. I gotta show this weirdo something.
lol chamomile tea is hilarious
Give Pac's ring back, and I might give you a lil respect! 🔥 🐐 🔥
Trav sounded goofy as hell. The problem with these "Discussions" or commentary is that we as consumers cant dictate what his intentions were when planning this. You can want all you want but there are times you gotta just shut up and consume not just come up with goofy ass expectations no one is even thinking about.
Guy in teal shorts really hurt the show/pod/convo. There were so many unique lanes to take in this conversation, & there was a good 10-15 mins of wasted time. Dude sounded like a lay hip hop listener. Wayno & Rob could've just picked a random person to sot with them.
I'm happy I found your channel in the midst of the beef. I'm here to stay. That being said, this was so good! But homie saying Kendrick was put on is crazzzy. I was getting so frustrated. 😅😅😅
We were all frustrated lol
Yo Rob... Wayne, cool beans! Your other mans, was killing this whole vibe. Loud and contrary for no reason... Friends off camera is one thing, but on camera, this was a tough watch.
Teal shorts fam, bruh come on fam. Asking for way too much. The show was actually called KEN &FRIENDS POP OUT.
Rob, Wayno, Trav dope context 🔥🔥🔥
Ayeeeeeee
I’ve been waiting for this!
Thanks for delivering
Love seeing you and Wayno collaborating 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Having seen the set list, E40 doing the narration, Tommy The Clown! It makes complete sense that Cole wasn't there, it was a West Coast set. You called it Rob.
Cape Town is really like the West Coast of South Africa(its actually on the west coast and the gang culture here is wild, the scenery is like LA) so Tommy The Clown and that Rize documentary was huge when I was on high school it sparked the Krump scene over here.
Fully understand why those types of things were such huge moments for LA.
this was fire, y'all need to do more of thesse!
Thank you bro
that blue print 2 austin powers hook the worst jay z hook ever. Unleash the flutes guru
Feel like yall don’t even know lil Wayne was the first person to co-sign Kendrick, and let him cover the entire Carter album for C4 lol Drake got put on to Kendrick music from Wayne’s co sign
C4 is a dope ass mixtape
They was an elite conversation. You can tell y'all all respect one another, apologizing for cutting each off, attempting to address everyone's points in order, trying to stay on topic, conceding when necessary. Beautiful dialogue
the dude with green short is don't have to be here
💯💯
This whole pop out show feels like a reflective moment on this whole beef which prompts me to say thank u Rob for your thoughtful and frankly one of a kind coverage of hip hop!! 💐💐
I appreciate you rocking with me every step of the way. This is big for me to do it without MTV or Genius or Amazon.
Please stop calling Wah Gwan Delilah an inside Toronto joke. We didn't get it and we don't play it. That's a Drake thing. He mocks us too.
Lmaooooooo that’s what i was told “you don’t understand it fam, you not from the city” so i was giving grace lol
Lol....not the fam 😂 Don't listen to them. Your feelings about the song were spot on. Naming a bunch of Toronto places on a trash song, mocking the accent of some people, doesn't make it good.
@@michellewilliams5533 hahaha yeah you see, you make sense. I thought i was crazy the way they were talking
Nah Rob at this point it’s kinda a podcast 😂
This one was kinda a podcast 😂
"I'm Rob Markman, and this is kinda a podcast." 😂
Rob came thru with another banger. Salute bruh!
Salute to you
I think lost in the Drake Stimulus Package conversation is the fact that there was a discussion initially around whether or not Drake needed to sign to a major at all. He was the canadian zack morris, had 50 million people in canada already as a base and there were a lot of independent successes rising at that time. Ultimately he did sign for what I believe to be is because he needed the cosigns to truly break big. He needed co-signs. He needed cultural cache. So the idea that he put Kendrick by putting him on the album and on tour is half the story. It was an exchange. He put kendrick on his album and in return he got west coast cache. Putting rock on tour was an exchange, he received additional cache. It's part of how he's always moved throughout his career and continues to do so.
I recently got intune with your channel and I've loved the authentic journalism of hip hop you put out into the world. We need people like you but Trav needs to just be greatful, this wasn't done for him. This was for us West coast people, he bugging with some statements but I appreciate all voices in hip hop even the wild ones lol. I appreciate you Rob, keep the true hip hop culture thriving brotha! 🙌🏾
Snoop and Quik are touring
Man this was a fun podcast. I like hearing from old heads who dont just shit on the new school. Yall should pod more together
🫡
I do not know many people who know Kendrick because of buried alive, no one I know says "yo, when Kendrick did that buried alive shit I went to his shit".
Sorry but Drake did not put Kendrick on, gave him a glow but NEVER made him
Putting someone on is closer to doing what Kendrick did for Baby Keem (gave him industry connections, wrote songs for him and featured on his biggest song as a GREAT already).
Get rid of DJ Akademics he is looking compromised
This was fire Rob ! Need more wit Waynooo
We gonna cook up for sure
Great Job Rob. I put a like as soon as I saw this was going to be a curated conversation.
Thank you!!!
All the content has been fire rob 🔥
Glad you rocking with it!!
Yall need a podcast foreal! We need more of these type joints🙏🏾. Trav is outta pocket 🤦🏾♂️. I’m glad you and Wayno were able to balance out his nut shit smh. The dynamics make for good TV though so everybody played they part. Salute 🫡
The dark skinned dude probably thinks Craig Mack put Busta rhymes on.
Ngl u should do episodes like this every now and then I like how you get to be a bit less unbiased and have debates in this format
🤔
Teal shorts is a delusional Stan.. Drake fans are weirdos fr 💀
Good talk. Aint heard from Wayno in a minute. Subscribed to his channel now. Job Well Done, yes, to Trav as well. 👏 👏 👏 👏 😂
Let’s go!!!!
Cant wait for your solo thoughts on the Pop Out show.
The Trav guy never again 😂
Go easy on my guy lol
Rob, I was vibing! I could have taken another hour at least man! 😁😁😁😁
Rob never have the guy on the left on your show again. He has TERRIBLE takes.
Kind of looks like a podcast haha 🫡🔥
It does right? Lol 🤦🏻♂️
Thank you Rob for real my brother we goin up 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
But imma just say I wasn’t a huge fan of the first hour but then it got better and better! Tyler barely getting two songs was disappointing. But black hippy reunion and Kendrick’s performance was definitely worth it
That response for Tyler was amazing
This was one for the books! 🔥🙌🏾
Absolutely!
!!!!
Maybe some people started to listen to Kendrick after those drake collabs, but, GKMC made him a superstar. The work, the album. A lot of rappers have the opportunity and they fail, even when theyre backed by drake or Dre. Kendrick didnt fail, cause of THE WORK.
I know these your friends Rob but nahhhhh… we didn’t sign up for this. You gonna have to run this back solo on that ass.
Yall kicking me out the group? Lol
Kicking teal shorts out.
The best episode yet
Buddy in the teal shorts acting like the color of the shorts! 😂😂😂
Dude in the shorts wants to be a contrarian so bad
BEST SHOW I'VE EVER SEEN K DOT🐐💯🙏🏾🎤❤️🎨📚🖼👑🥳 DIFFERENT LA DIFFERENT 😤🥶🔥😎

Burnt out on moments? There hasn't been anything like this in forever. Hip Hop has been starving for sumn like this, Y'all trippin.
Teal shorts is obnoxious. Please, don't have him back.
I talk with the guy every day, this is light lol
this is a vibe ROB!!!!!
Ayeeeeee
Seeing Wayno get this heated brought me back to Everyday Struggle *kendrick voice* hold up
Lmaoooooo
I love Wayno. Wished him and Ak show was still on.
Rob didn’t i say e40 was gon be there? We love K dot in the bay thats why he said what he said about that Oakland show being drake last stop 🛑
You did! To have 40 Narrate was genius
@@RobMarkman yay area was definitely in the building mane!!!
Next time please have some west coast folks to talk about west coast things. The show was in the Forum on Juneteenth. The same place where the Lakers won chips. It was for LA, not the masses. Also, Snoop is from Long Beach. Long Beach is NOT LA. Long Beach is not Compton. His presence would have been cool but that wasn’t what it was about. Appreciate the conversation but it’s missing a lot of nuance that only someone from the coast could provide.
They don’t get it
Exactly! As a LA native and as someone who was at the show, they spent too much time talking about Drake and not the impact it made on LA and the importance of LA in Hip-Hop. While everyone is trying to sound like everyone else, LA has remained true to its sound and this should be an example for all regions!
Yea they don’t understand the impact. They’ve never spent one second at a Leimert Park Juneteenth Festival. Still love Rob though. Teal shorts can go somewhere though
@@ibalance925 that part! Like we’re here for the winner of the battle, not the loser. BFFR.
@@sheabuttersymba much love for Rob. He’s very thoughtful with his commentary but teal shorts was flagrant.
4 min in and I’m exiting
Well damn lol
Bruh on the left was loud and wrong for 90% of this video, but one thing I do agree with is the fact that Hov is DEFINITELY throwing a couple bars at Cole for those Roc Nation bars on Might Delete Later 😂
Snoop is on tour. He was in Edmonton.
This wasn’t about flexing industry connections, this was about showcasing the city, the West Coast and unity.
Not a soul who isn’t from the West touched that stage.
For real
