When I fly into Heathrow I always book a seat on the right hand side second to last row. There is nothing to obstruct the view so I always sit there taking photo after photo. If the weather is clear I love the view of central London. The skyline is getting impressive with clusters of skyscrapers in Canary wharf, the City, Vauxhall and a few other places. Your knowledge of different areas of London is impressive, I work with some people who have lived in London for years and still don't know much about the city at all. This is a good one. Thanks!
Im the same with the knowledge as ive been a bus driver for the last 5y and ive driven pretty much everywhere in London , not everywhere but the vast majority of, so when he was naming the areas, i was eagle eying everything and naming what i recognised also. Its such an interesting view, and ive only been on a plane twice, so it means even more to me to get these kind of views. But your right some ppl have grown up in this city and only know the part where they are from, they have never got about or had a need to. Reminds me of my mum, but everyone is different, i love to get about and i learn fast, whereas others will never go outside of their surroundings unless necessary.
Missed the lovely Kew Gardens in the commentary but you know your bridges. I flew into Stansted early on Sunday morning, over West London, and could look down and see The Eye, Tower Bridge etc - from much higher up. I've never had the chance to do this one, hope to one day. A couple of years ago we actually flew over Heathrow on the way to Stansted - it was amazing to look down at it from about three miles up.
I have been at this airport many times when living in Cambridge during the 1990's. On one occasion I experienced Concorde taking off near from my plane making incredible noise and causing noticable wing vortexes.
@nevertrump-z2y True. But neither of these states has a city as large as London. New York has a similar population but is smaller in area. Los Angeles is, if I recall correctly, bigger in area terms, but with a smaller population. London has a metro population of 14,000,000.
Great views of central London & Hounslow. Seven years ago the Asda in Hounslow used to have a giant car park. Now it has 6 blocks of new apartments & pretty much no car park.😂🤣
On my last flight into City airport I was able to track the route along the Thames and pickout many famous landmarks, I noticed your video began with views of the airport & runway!
I found this really interesting. Good commentary. Can you imagine the Romans nearly 2000 years founded the city of London what would they make of this view, particularly as filmed from an aircraft?
Wembley dweller here. The arch, though impressive, doesn't look nearly as large when near it as it seems from a distance. On a clear day on the Heathrow approach you can see it from beyond the Dartford crossing.
Been there, done that! I was interested to see a Concorde (or replica!) parked by the British Airways area of Heathrow. And the Chiswick Tower building. I live within 150 meters of that! Thanks for an interesting trip!
Amazing how many green space there are in the middle of everything - parks, fields, forests(?) and a golf course . London is supposed to be one of the greenest cities.
I used to work right next to the Shard…miss the buzz of the city sometimes. Don’t miss the commute. Lots of illegals in central London now unfortunately…begging for money or picking pockets…they all have a mobile phone and seem to be able to afford to smoke though.
you can always tell where you are in London above with just the many football stadiums in London 1st Millwall 2nd chelsea far in the distance the emirates then wembley stadium
@@lyndoncmp5751 Yes, I see. Will there be a modern rebirth of the concorde via a new supersonic design in the works. All very hush hush at the mo…just rumours
@@markpapp8784 Ok…? So, are you saying it is still flight worthy and operational for flight? I thought all Concorde flights were now ceased from operation due to poor safety record etc etc. It must have another purpose …for spare parts etc. It looks functional on the video hence my surprise. Not knowing fully ground flight operational directives and flight company decision relating to parts etc I am a little confused. I do know that grounded planes are often pillaged and ransacked for parts for repair on operational flights to save money. Maybe they conduct secret flights for busy billionaires and dodgy drug lords or equally corrupt busy MP’s like Kier Starmer….wait until the British public finds out he is using a Concorde. Lol
Such a clear and beautiful view😻
City of Love😍
Great views of the city as promised ! Thanks !
Brilliant video, i used to be a chef at he savoy, and i spotted the savoy and embankment gardens, also big ben!!

Flying has to be one of the greatest feats of the human race.
I have seen many landings at LHR, but that is definitely one of the best! Wonderful to watch.
Fantastic view and first class camera 🎥 work my friend well done!
I wanna go back to the UK...thank you for the wonderful video.
Beautiful view. Thanks for sharing this 😁
I've flown this route at night. It was breath-taking
I have bern lucky enough to experience this too. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing and relaxing to watch.
Great video - thank you
That was fascinating and brilliant. What a treat. Thank you.
Omgoodness, what beautifully sharp footage! Well done you 🎉🎉🥰🥰🇬🇧✨

They are very big planes.

Nice video I enjoyed that. Guest starring a second hand Concord, one careful owner @6:31🤗
Makes you realise how big London really is.
Big cesspool at the moment thanks to Starmer

Well filmed with very interesting views. Good to watch after reading 'A Street Through Time' by Steve Noon & Dr. Anne Millard.
I love when Charles Dickens mentions areas I know 💝💝🥰
Thank-you.Fascinating.

Interesting thought William !
They'd be shocked that "britanculi" (little britons) had a city that makes modern Rome look like a village 😅
Salute to British Airways ✈

Richmond Park in particular is huge, with herds of deer roaming freely.
Yes it's classed as an urban forest, due to the amount of trees ❤
Several green areas near the river are filled-in gravel pits.
Lovely day for sure
Watched from begining to end.
Amazing footage
3:47, just after you mention the driving range, that's the Taskmaster house in the middle left by the main road. 😀
Yes. it can be very interesting. Apart from the river, the most obvious landmarks are the Central London parks and large sports venues.
Great video. But isn't it travelling east to west with a south to north view?
Beautiful 👍👍👍

That's just north of the river. Far more built up areas south of the river.
Mesmerising lol 🙂
Super.
Wow! It's not raining! Astonishing, no?
I'd almost forgotten how big it is
You missed Craven Cottage on the river as your camera was too high up
Just spotted our old flat in Hounslow
"If you could pop your shoes on for me" Good grief.
Hopefully he was still wearing socks. I can speak from experience that tight shoes are the bane of long-haul flights
Why didn't he put his own shoes on? Lazy bugger.

What’s a concorde plane doing at the BA hangars at 6:32 or is that just a homage nostalgic model?
Nice catch!
Waiting for the rebirth. 😉

Not a nostalgic model - it's the real, nostalgic, thing.

I taught it was fligh sim the buildings look very computer graphics like.
I could just about make out where I live
🥳🥳🥳🥰
Is it pretty expensive to live there?
Yes, the cost of housing is very high.
As someone from Cornwall I’m like where’s all the trees and fields and oxygen
London is one of the greenest major cities in the world, plenty of parks, commons and trees when you look closely.
There's plenty oxygen, you just have to breath it after lots of other people already have 🤮
