just don't crank the fuel pump to the moon. Most people tune their diesels to make smoke on purpose because they think its cool or because they think it adds power. Actually i like smoke too, but only at drag racing or special events. Rolling huge amounts of smoke is not nice for other people
@tripplefives yes cranking the fuel up and making smoke can increase your power, but only to a limit. After a point you are just wasting fuel. Also you said that black smoke is fuel that was converted to carbon monoxide/dioxide because there was no oxygen left during combustion. That means it was NOT burnt. fuel needs oxygen to burn. The black smoke is unburnt fuel that was converted to carbon particles as you said. unburnt fuel = wasted power.

its not too bad with the fact its already got an inline 6 in it, complexity comes in how much u wanna keep original and so on. om606s are harder to find nowadays and if u dont get a turbo engine u need new rods and so on so looking at a few grand for engine, a grand for gearbox set up, probably want a lsd or asd (can make an asd into lsd by adding hydraulic pressure), mech pump is a grand, turbo set up will be at least a grand (pipes and intercooler), how much of a grind depends on ur skill and experience and knowing what goes where (for example im planning this swap on my 190 so been collecting as much info as i can for small things like using a 190d ignition for the vacuum line to shut engine off) good luck if u do do it, 300 is easily achieved with a stock turbo engine with a holset 35 or 40 and mech fuel pump
