My all time favorite book. The characters are so utterly authentic. The interactions between the characters took me back to my years as an Army officer. I fondly remember that camaraderie. Most junior officers are pretty good folks. Wouk obviously had experience as a naval officer and was a close observer of human nature. I re-read the novel every two years. One piece of trivia I found to be quite ironic is that the actress who portrayed May Wynne was actually named May Wynne. As an attorney I found the court scenes to be realistic and compelling. Wouk was so skilled at portraying such realistic stories. There was no real USS Caine, I firmly believe there could have been. Wouk was genius.
I am planning to use exerts from this movie in a leadership training for Scouts. CAPT Kennedy comment about PTSD is right on target ... the attorney statement at the end of the movie on 'who should have been on trail' was the eye opener for me as a youth when I watched this movie for the first time.
Nobody reads the Caine Mutiny anymore? That's a negative, Sir! Second reading. Love the film. Swell job by the panel here. There's very little concerted film analysis on the movie (which inspired me enough to read the book, not the other way around). Some intelligent lads here. Measured performance, fellows!!
I would like to talk to you about the new movie "The Caine Mutiny Court Marshal." I am just a TH-cam guy, I did read the book back in 2000 and watched the Humphrey Bogart movie then. I love the new movie.
I thought that the love story suffered greatly in the movie due to the necessity of stripping down the character development and conflict between the two. It added nothing to the movie and should have been developed more or scrapped altogether
Thank you for posting this!
I will have to watch this when I'm done reading the book. I am reading it for the first time and absolutely loving it!

Thank you, Sir. Perhaps next an examination of his novels, winds of war and war and remembrance?
I read them for the first time a year or two ago. Absolutely enthralling!
