@@Matt-di6nb I tried to get them to shine, I really did. They sounded to "small" compared to all the other cans I have here. I even bought the GSX 1000 to go with them, but not enough power, to thin and too bright.

I've wasted so much money on different headsets for positional sound and finally landed on these. I play a LOT of Hunt Showdown where audio is the most important aspect of the game. Hands down the H6Pro is the best headset I've used. Usually I prefer wireless, but these sound SO good and separate audio so well that I don't mind the wire at all. These are my favorites of anything I've tried.
I play a lot of Hunt Showdown myself and were looking for a new headset as I cant tell whether enemies are coming from behind or the front with my current headset, do you use the open or closed back?
@@MrChugchugchug Nothing comes close. I still play Hunt Showdown every day using the H6Pros. I've tried Turtle Beach, Hyper X, Razer (the Blackshark V2 comes close if eq'd properly, but the positional audio isn't quite on par), Corsair, and Steelseries. The H6Pro is clearer and easier to find people, hands down.
Hey Techne , thanks for the heads up about this bundle. I wasn’t satisfied with sound quality on my wireless headset so bought this bundle for ps5. Love the h6pro. Sounds great out of the box even without the DAC /Amp. and just plugged into the controller , but once I’d updated the DAC firmware on my laptop , set mic to warm and sound profile to movie and 2.1 in the software (saves to DAC) it sounds awesome on ps5 using the DAC into the front USB port. Super delighted. All thanks to you Techne.
I would think the EPOS would be the winner for the mic alone. The warm setting on the GSX300 brings the mic quality up to very near studio quality. Best sounding mic in various review videos of different headsets I have heard. You could honestly use them for streaming or podcasting if you wanted to. Steelseries still has a lot of work to do on their mics.
Yeah bro, that’s exactly why I’m buying this pair of headphones because the mic Quality convinced me that they were way better mics out their for gaming headsets. Because I don’t game on a desk so I don’t really have space to get an actual professional mic hooked up to my console/PC so having a High quality mic with a comfortable and good audio pair of headphones is crucial for me. Because for a long time I thought good audio w/ comfort and a clear mic, were two very separate things (which they are) but EPOS proved that they don’t have to be…. Which is big joy for me and the fact is that that are only slightly more expensive than then my previous pair of headphones that I had (slight discount I got on a pier of A40s, because I had a coupon). This is literally huge for me.
I have a h6pro (closed back) and GSX 1200 pro combo and it works well for PC gaming. Was a bit worried initially that the volume on the GSX amp-dac might be too quiet/weak after watching early reviews, but after following the a random commenters suggestion to plug it into a USB channel that has minimal devices/bandwidth usage (in my case usb 3.2 port as my m+kb is using my 3.1 ports) I found it plenty loud. Using 7.1 sound setinng 30% volume is loud enough, whereas using higher bitrate stereo 50% volume is loud enough.
Im a bit disapointed by the sound level. In spotify it pushes out good music. Beautiful. But in game, after 8 hours og twerking in eq, it still not loud.
@@vahidghiasvand9087 16bit 48000hz is the max it supports for 7.1 surround sound. If you want higher bitrate you will have to change to 2.1 (under windows-sound-configure menu). You should then be able to select up to 24bit 96000hz.
If I need to hear external noises, such a doorbell, door knocking, cat meowing, or kid speaking to me, how are “closed back” like my M50x supposed to be a good thing?
Have both open and closed backs with this dac , just bought the dac/open back combo and I actually think i prefer them to the closed backs , Not as loud but the sound is so much cleaner and positional audio in games like tarkov feels better , I prefer the closed back for movies and youtube but they just don't sound as good in games or in surround mode. They are both great and very comfy except the top band kinda takes time getting used to. hurt a bit at first after a few hours but that goes away after a week or so.
@2LoLGaming possibly, I've since upgraded to the game one/ gsx1000 and I definitely feel like they are a bit louder however I did for a brief time use them off of the dac and had a hard time telling the difference it could depend on your onboard sound card
@@HuntingLikeAPro if you are using the GSX 300 i just used default settings in the software with side tone turned up a little bit , if you are using the gsx1000 there aren't much you can change in terms of settings but its a much more robust dac , just keep surround off if your using discord and make sure all of the windows volumes are max and it sounded pretty good, I kept mine on the game preset.
It was funny watching this review while having the headset on. It's a great headset guys. Strongly recommend. I don't have the amp/dac and I use the closed back.

I bought the open back ones for my xbox series S and damn they pack a punch 👌 the bass on these is not a joke even for a openback headphones it certainly does not dissapoint

I got the H6 Pro thank's to your reviews. Thank god! I was using a wired G Pro X but the build is pretty shit. Plastic parts kept cracking. I had enough of the Logitec crap so I pulled the trigger on the Epos. 150 USD well spent.
Thanks for another great video. I really hope these companies can develop the technology of dac/amp and headset/headphone having full wireless. Just plug in the dac/amp to your console or PC and the rest is all wireless. But like the SteelSeries. Imagine having a top end dac/amp you can use with any wireless headset and be able to customise it.
You don't need a dac for a wireless device because wireless headphones have a dac built directly into the headphones themselves. There's no reason to have a desk mounted dac for a wireless pair of headphones, it offers no benefit.
@@Chronospherics You misunderstood. I stated like the SteelSeries Pro Wireless. Yes wireless headsets have a built in amp and so does the Pro Wireless, but it’s dedicated dac doesn’t require a PC to customise EQ and all the other aspects of the headset. With the Epos one I’m Thai video, you need to plug into the PC to use their software in order to make any adjustment. If you’re a PC gamer it’s fine, but for those on console, keep unplugging and replugging would get exhausting.
@@famezy9103 I do understand what you're saying but you should be able to do that with a dac in the headphones and something like an app on your mobile phone. Particularly with these devices that support bluetooth and 2.4g wireless. For instance, you can do that with the Audeze Penrose, but the app kind of sucks and it's only on Android.
@@Chronospherics wireless Dac is also handy for console players I use my old pro wireless with optical to my tv so i can use my tv, xbox and playstation without needing bluetooth or extra cables or having to hot swap dongles between consoles
@@Chronospherics Unfortunately not every headset has that option with an app. On PC it’s ok, because there are lots of EQ programmes you can download, but again that’s mostly for wired headphones.
I've been debating between getting this combo set (shame it doesn't come in the green/gold colour set that I like more) or the Hyper X Cloud Orbit S. I wish I had somewhere that I could go to sample them and make a better decision on. =/
Love the video! I personally came from the Astro A50’s and wanted a wired headset (also my right ear in the astros were starting to crackle). Also I do play on PC. I got the closed back of the H6 pros and liked them but honestly was kinda “meh” about them so I returned them and tried the open back and I (personally) love the sound of the open back so much more and I play Valorant quite competitively. Both had good sound but I feel like I was missing something with the closed that I feel like I get with the open. Everything I was looking for as far as a directional cues and a natural sound I get with the open. I don’t know if my closed backs were maybe a bad pair or something but they just felt like it was a closed back headset that was trying to get an open back sound. Felt artificial almost, not sure how to explain it. Still good but not as good as open in my opinion. Either way love your videos and even when I’m not in the market for something I still love watching your videos on all products!

I dont have the bundle, so its hard to say but for me if i plugged mine into the back of the PC it was much quieter than if i plugged it into the top next to the power button. Also i have the Elgato Wave 3 mic and i tried plugging it into that and it was even louder but i felt like i lost alot of base and detail when in the mic
@@alberto_el_tercero my wife can hear others talk when she is in the room with me but not super loud. If the other person is screaming or talking loud then yes she can definitely hear it in the room and know what they are saying
that combo is just sooooo fucking goated. bought the h6 pro on techne's recommendation and then got my hands on an beyerdynamic mmx300. everyone preferred the h6 pro because the sound had so much more weight to it with higher highs and lower lows, more bass, just the whole ordeal. the mmx300 felt more refined and has probably the best headset mircophone you could ask for but the h6 pro + epos gsx 300 combo is absolutely unbeatable, especially for the price.
@@eldemetrio5048 depends. mmx300 without a soundcard is quiet and when listening to music it sounds it just doesnt get loud enough on its own. with the gsx 300 you can crank it and its just god damn insane with how many small details you can hear in songs, it feels like you know what they intended in the studio when mixing or something. on the other hand h6 pro on its own gets loud and slaps hard as hell when playing games, listening to music etc. and with the gsx 300 good lord i had to turn down elden ring alot because parry and stagger sounds slapped so hard and when listening to music its just so damn good if you just wanna blast your ears. you cant go wrong with any of those combo's, but id say they h6 pro and gsx 300 combo is unbeatable in a deal especially. only real reason i see for getting a mmx300 and spending way more is that you like really detailed music, you get a really good deal on one or that you prefer the microphone which honestly is THE BEST headset microphone i have ever used. i hope this helps. :)

No wireless option really kills the headset for that price imo. For me, I'm a league racer and it's pretty annoying when I switch from chair to racing seat I always need to replace my screen but also need to make sure the audio cable is okay etc. I'm doing it for a long time now, but wireless would be slightly more enjoyable I think. But are the H3pro hybrids as good?
i bought the new nova pro wired and have also the epos h6 pro, love using the gamedac gen 2 with the epos, also have the last gamedac but the new one for me its better and the epos headset are better that the nova pro headset,

Speaking of best gaming headset deals; Woot has a deal on a Wage Wired Gaming Headset, which the reviews I've seen say it's made by Skullcandy, for $5.99 and Free Prime Shipping. I'm sure it's not stinkin' cozy and the sound is probably meh-to-average, but for six dollars I snagged one to throw in the closet in case all my other headsets break, die or get stolen. It will suffice as an emergency backup.
What would you guys recommend? Arctis Nova Pro Wired or these bad boys? I mostly use a USB mic for creative/personal use but for work I need a microphone on my headset. Do you think these will have better sound quality than the Arctis Nova Pros?
@@TheTechne yeah I ended up finishing the video and got an answer 😅 Still welcome further opinions but looks like for my specific scenario the Nova pros look to be the way. $680 AUD though for wireless which is hefty compared to $350AUD. I love the chat/game function and the features with SS though. I’ve unfortunately had 3 Arctic Pros break within the last 2 years due to the known right cup issues so that makes me iffy on the Nova. I’m super indecisive if it’s not obvious. Thanks for all the coverage though you legend!

@@dutchwastednl4531 no saving on PS5... I only use the GSX on PS5 cause I don't like to put the headphone by the controller... For spatial sound or simulation, enable the tempest 3d audio.

Owned the H6Pro open back headset for 5 months, but the microphone no longer picked up sound and I suspect it wore out from lifting to mute over its short life. EPOS support wanted me to return the whole headset without giving me a replacement in the meantime, so I would've been without sound while they figured out what was wrong with my headset. Don't get me wrong, the mic and sound were great but the durability is awful for the price.
i have artics pro gamedac but i feel that it does not separate the sounds, i am using jbl quantum one with dts x and i am very pleased with the sound but the microphone has defects, i play warzone, is it worth changing to the h6pro? sound better than the quantum one?
Man, I purchased the Epos headset based on this video review. Coming from steelseries artiss pro, I am extremely disappointed with the epos. I'm not sure how your ears work but they're certainly different than mine. The epos doesn't produce nearly as well as the arctis

I tried H3 Pro Hybrid (wireless) for a few days. The set was just too buggy so it got returned, those things are not fit for consumer purchase which is why you hardly see reviews and they aren't carried in store ANYWHERE. However, the sound quality, when they worked was a step above the ANPW. The ANPW get louder and have more details in the mid/highs. The bass and punch on the EPOS were solid though, definitely a cut above the ANPW. However the fish bowl effect of those closed backs and clamp was like wearing ear muffs at the shooting range. For gaming the ANPW are superior hands down. The directional positioning is the best I've heard. ANPW mic is better too. The wired do have me interested if this ANC bump cannot be overcome on the ANPW headset.
I've been daily driving the Meze 99 Neo with the Fiio Q3 as I play warzone. I decided this "build" to be exclusively for music and movies so I gave this bundle a try. I was very very very disappointed, and I really wanted to like this bundle. The following day I returned the bundle not because I had a problem with the headset, but the fact that the GSX 300 was quiet at full blast. I had a lot of high hopes for this purchase, now I'm not sure if I'll ever buy something with Epos on it. I couldve just kept the H6 pro and just let the GSX 300 collect dust because it was only $20 more but I just felt so disappointed that I returned the whole bundle. I may just buy the headset and this time buy the closed back since it's louder. Either that or buy the TYGR 300R. I just don't understand why people actually like the GSX 300, it's honestly trash.
I have zero clue about audio but I currently have razer blackshark v2 but I feel like people have better audio then me, worth a upgrade and what’s best for only gaming?
What did you end up going with. I have those too and I tried steel series nova 7x and hated them, they sounded so off and weird compared to the black sharks, they even hurt my ears because the odd tones used in the headset, I've never had that happen. So I'm looking at these now and hope they work well, I'm not chasing footsteps so I hope they just have a full sound with decent bass.

I had the Steelseries Game dac pro,and they broke after a year,that swivel mechanism where the headband attached on the earpiece is crap,its a known point of faillure.
The mic is better than average, but still not on the league of the Corsair mics. I really wish headset companies would go all out on mics instead of just trying to ride that line because they end up on the "cheap" side more than the other.
No, completely different price points and driver types. Penrose is a lot better, but it's almost double the price as well. Though as an overall package for the price, EPOS is better.
I dont understand why companies don't make a headset that works legit universal with all consoles. don't they want to reach a wider market. it just doesn't make sense to me. like why would steel series make an Xbox specific nova pro, that works with everything, and one that only does everything but xbox???
Look up the Turtle Beach Stealth Max headsets. They use a dongle and are compatible with PS5, Xbox, PC, and the Switch. If it has a USB port, the headset works.

I have a pair of EPOS and they are, by far, one of the most comfortable gaming headsets I’ve ever used.
They just don't sound good. I tried 3 different DACs to make them shine.

Switching usb helped you. What about bitrate in windows. Can you change that. Mine stucked at 16

Buy a digital door bell to hook up to your PC. Even if not gaming, theyre awesome.

I think tech coming from so many “gaming” headsets just prefers and got more accustomed to closed back base heavy headsets.

I wouldn't straight up rule out the open backs, it's most definitely personal preference and for many open backs are the preferred choice

I really hope these companies can develop the technology of dac/amp and headset/headphone having full wireless. Just plug in the dac/amp to your console or PC and the rest is all wireless. But like the SteelSeries.
Imagine having a top end dac/amp you can use with any wireless headset and be able to customise it.
You don't need a dac for a wireless device because wireless headphones have a dac built directly into the headphones themselves. There's no reason to have a desk mounted dac for a wireless pair of headphones, it offers no benefit.
@@Chronospherics You misunderstood. I stated like the SteelSeries Pro Wireless. Yes wireless headsets have a built in amp and so does the Pro Wireless, but it’s dedicated dac doesn’t require a PC to customise EQ and all the other aspects of the headset.
With the Epos one I’m Thai video, you need to plug into the PC to use their software in order to make any adjustment. If you’re a PC gamer it’s fine, but for those on console, keep unplugging and replugging would get exhausting.
@@famezy9103 I do understand what you're saying but you should be able to do that with a dac in the headphones and something like an app on your mobile phone. Particularly with these devices that support bluetooth and 2.4g wireless. For instance, you can do that with the Audeze Penrose, but the app kind of sucks and it's only on Android.
@@Chronospherics wireless Dac is also handy for console players I use my old pro wireless with optical to my tv so i can use my tv, xbox and playstation without needing bluetooth or extra cables or having to hot swap dongles between consoles
@@Chronospherics Unfortunately not every headset has that option with an app. On PC it’s ok, because there are lots of EQ programmes you can download, but again that’s mostly for wired headphones.
I've been debating between getting this combo set (shame it doesn't come in the green/gold colour set that I like more) or the Hyper X Cloud Orbit S. I wish I had somewhere that I could go to sample them and make a better decision on. =/
Love the video! I personally came from the Astro A50’s and wanted a wired headset (also my right ear in the astros were starting to crackle). Also I do play on PC. I got the closed back of the H6 pros and liked them but honestly was kinda “meh” about them so I returned them and tried the open back and I (personally) love the sound of the open back so much more and I play Valorant quite competitively. Both had good sound but I feel like I was missing something with the closed that I feel like I get with the open. Everything I was looking for as far as a directional cues and a natural sound I get with the open. I don’t know if my closed backs were maybe a bad pair or something but they just felt like it was a closed back headset that was trying to get an open back sound. Felt artificial almost, not sure how to explain it. Still good but not as good as open in my opinion. Either way love your videos and even when I’m not in the market for something I still love watching your videos on all products!

There is a But. I noticed, that this headset is not as "loud" as the Blackshark V2 Pro or the artic pro. Its like something is holding it back in warzone. Some sounds fades away, and do not come out like they should. In wondows, i can only chose 16 bit, and not the 24 bit.!
Is there a solution or something? Or is this headset just not "that loud"?

I dont have the bundle, so its hard to say but for me if i plugged mine into the back of the PC it was much quieter than if i plugged it into the top next to the power button. Also i have the Elgato Wave 3 mic and i tried plugging it into that and it was even louder but i felt like i lost alot of base and detail when in the mic
@@alberto_el_tercero my wife can hear others talk when she is in the room with me but not super loud. If the other person is screaming or talking loud then yes she can definitely hear it in the room and know what they are saying
also as far as i know the mic has never picked up sound coming from the headset either so that is good

that combo is just sooooo fucking goated. bought the h6 pro on techne's recommendation and then got my hands on an beyerdynamic mmx300. everyone preferred the h6 pro because the sound had so much more weight to it with higher highs and lower lows, more bass, just the whole ordeal. the mmx300 felt more refined and has probably the best headset mircophone you could ask for but the h6 pro + epos gsx 300 combo is absolutely unbeatable, especially for the price.
so h6pro with soundcard is better than mmx300 in ur opinion?
@@eldemetrio5048 depends. mmx300 without a soundcard is quiet and when listening to music it sounds it just doesnt get loud enough on its own. with the gsx 300 you can crank it and its just god damn insane with how many small details you can hear in songs, it feels like you know what they intended in the studio when mixing or something. on the other hand h6 pro on its own gets loud and slaps hard as hell when playing games, listening to music etc. and with the gsx 300 good lord i had to turn down elden ring alot because parry and stagger sounds slapped so hard and when listening to music its just so damn good if you just wanna blast your ears. you cant go wrong with any of those combo's, but id say they h6 pro and gsx 300 combo is unbeatable in a deal especially. only real reason i see for getting a mmx300 and spending way more is that you like really detailed music, you get a really good deal on one or that you prefer the microphone which honestly is THE BEST headset microphone i have ever used. i hope this helps. :)

No wireless option really kills the headset for that price imo. For me, I'm a league racer and it's pretty annoying when I switch from chair to racing seat I always need to replace my screen but also need to make sure the audio cable is okay etc. I'm doing it for a long time now, but wireless would be slightly more enjoyable I think. But are the H3pro hybrids as good?
i bought the new nova pro wired and have also the epos h6 pro, love using the gamedac gen 2 with the epos, also have the last gamedac but the new one for me its better and the epos headset are better that the nova pro headset,

Speaking of best gaming headset deals; Woot has a deal on a Wage Wired Gaming Headset, which the reviews I've seen say it's made by Skullcandy, for $5.99 and Free Prime Shipping. I'm sure it's not stinkin' cozy and the sound is probably meh-to-average, but for six dollars I snagged one to throw in the closet in case all my other headsets break, die or get stolen. It will suffice as an emergency backup.

Still welcome further opinions but looks like for my specific scenario the Nova pros look to be the way. $680 AUD though for wireless which is hefty compared to $350AUD. I love the chat/game function and the features with SS though.
I’ve unfortunately had 3 Arctic Pros break within the last 2 years due to the known right cup issues so that makes me iffy on the Nova. I’m super indecisive if it’s not obvious.

@@dutchwastednl4531 no saving on PS5... I only use the GSX on PS5 cause I don't like to put the headphone by the controller... For spatial sound or simulation, enable the tempest 3d audio.

@@ItalionStallion1x on PS5 finally I use the gsx with the Epos GSP 600, sounds much better for me, the H6Pro (with astro mixamp) I used them mainly on my Series X, for me, they sound more better with the Dolby app on Series. With PS5 and controller or gsx I'm with you

Owned the H6Pro open back headset for 5 months, but the microphone no longer picked up sound and I suspect it wore out from lifting to mute over its short life. EPOS support wanted me to return the whole headset without giving me a replacement in the meantime, so I would've been without sound while they figured out what was wrong with my headset. Don't get me wrong, the mic and sound were great but the durability is awful for the price.

i have artics pro gamedac but i feel that it does not separate the sounds, i am using jbl quantum one with dts x and i am very pleased with the sound but the microphone has defects, i play warzone, is it worth changing to the h6pro? sound better than the quantum one?

Man, I purchased the Epos headset based on this video review. Coming from steelseries artiss pro, I am extremely disappointed with the epos. I'm not sure how your ears work but they're certainly different than mine. The epos doesn't produce nearly as well as the arctis

I tried H3 Pro Hybrid (wireless) for a few days. The set was just too buggy so it got returned, those things are not fit for consumer purchase which is why you hardly see reviews and they aren't carried in store ANYWHERE. However, the sound quality, when they worked was a step above the ANPW. The ANPW get louder and have more details in the mid/highs. The bass and punch on the EPOS were solid though, definitely a cut above the ANPW. However the fish bowl effect of those closed backs and clamp was like wearing ear muffs at the shooting range. For gaming the ANPW are superior hands down. The directional positioning is the best I've heard. ANPW mic is better too.
The wired do have me interested if this ANC bump cannot be overcome on the ANPW headset.

I've been daily driving the Meze 99 Neo with the Fiio Q3 as I play warzone. I decided this "build" to be exclusively for music and movies so I gave this bundle a try. I was very very very disappointed, and I really wanted to like this bundle. The following day I returned the bundle not because I had a problem with the headset, but the fact that the GSX 300 was quiet at full blast. I had a lot of high hopes for this purchase, now I'm not sure if I'll ever buy something with Epos on it. I couldve just kept the H6 pro and just let the GSX 300 collect dust because it was only $20 more but I just felt so disappointed that I returned the whole bundle. I may just buy the headset and this time buy the closed back since it's louder. Either that or buy the TYGR 300R. I just don't understand why people actually like the GSX 300, it's honestly trash.
I have zero clue about audio but I currently have razer blackshark v2 but I feel like people have better audio then me, worth a upgrade and what’s best for only gaming?
What did you end up going with. I have those too and I tried steel series nova 7x and hated them, they sounded so off and weird compared to the black sharks, they even hurt my ears because the odd tones used in the headset, I've never had that happen. So I'm looking at these now and hope they work well, I'm not chasing footsteps so I hope they just have a full sound with decent bass.

I had the Steelseries Game dac pro,and they broke after a year,that swivel mechanism where the headband attached on the earpiece is crap,its a known point of faillure.

Why is it that this setup doesn’t work on Xbox? I have this headset and would love to be able to do some slight eq adjusting.
The mic is better than average, but still not on the league of the Corsair mics. I really wish headset companies would go all out on mics instead of just trying to ride that line because they end up on the "cheap" side more than the other.
most issues is due to wireless bandwidth, usually you have to have excellent sound with okish mic quality or vice versa

Look up the Turtle Beach Stealth Max headsets. They use a dongle and are compatible with PS5, Xbox, PC, and the Switch. If it has a USB port, the headset works.
