Bent Out of Shape | Official Animated Short Film

The 3D animated short film, "Bent Out of Shape" follows the story of a dull, square woman and her child living in a dull, square world. However, when a bright, circular neighbor moves in next door, the square woman begins to feel that her lifestyle is being threatened. Even worse, she worries that her square child may be affected by the circular neighbor's influence...
This short film was completed over the course of a couple of years, and created entirely by Chloe Merwin as a senior thesis project in the Computer Animation program at Ringling College of Art and Design.

You know, I really enjoyed this, not on a “omg they’re different and then they accept themselves more” (which I totally agree with), but I feel this on a deeper level. I feel like this is a story about queerness in our society and how people are trying to get used to it more. The neighbor is the casual lesbian, the daughter is questioning and the mom is conservative, but in the end, the mom accepts the daughter’s identity and they all grow from it.
