such a fascinating game. one of the few CDi games that felt like it *belonged* on CDi with how it utilizes music and the FMV backgrounds, and one of the most unique Tetris entires period.
With that said, I can't help but wonder what a Philips CDI port of Killing Time would've been like. Atlantis already proved that the CDI could do first person shooters. But what about a first person shooter that heavily uses FMV?

I found out the other day that some boardrooms back in the 90s has these machines for presentations. It def has that uniquely 90s office vibe, even if it was to some degree a video game console. Sitting next to a big dot matrix printer and going to the PGA tours and to the Wimbledon with the office team. None of that crazy hood shit I had in the 90s. Just a peaceful and estute life. That was really the time.
The lack of sound effects over these bgm tracks is... haunting? I didn't even realize the backdrops were animated till I read the description, it's very aesthetic indeed (probably a more effective use of FMV than anything I've seen on the PS1🙃).
I really wish there was a way to get the original footage for the FMVs playing in the background. I tried looking everywhere online and although I did find the director of photography, I have to yet to find any way to reach out to said person. Hell, I'd even be content to get the extracted FMVs from the .cdi ROM even if they play at like 5fps and have the resolution of a shoe box lol
I'm surprised there hasn't been an attempt made at a "definitive" Tetris, just a massive pack of Tetris themes from across the years under the same physics engine; Tetris 99 is close, but the game has an eventual expiration date.
This reminds me of the unreleased version on the genesis, sure that version wasn’t very good, but was unique in style, so this version of Tetris feels reminiscent.
That genesis version is an arcade port, that version was very much released and is the basis for many Japanese versions of tetris. Arcade Sega Tetris is THE version of tetris in japan
