      Question. I know you live in the Dallas area, how far do people drive to come buy your pieces? I want to try flipping furniture and live a couple hours from your area. I just don’t see things selling for those prices in my area.

    • @LemonstoLemonadeFurniture
      @LemonstoLemonadeFurniture  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have people drive from OK, Waco, Houston. BUT the channel has helped that. Before I started TH-cam it was mostly 2 hour radius around Dallas which is still good.

    VERY interesting, I like it. I wonder what would have happened if you reversed the colors. Green first then whitewash. Since green is the opposite of red, it might have cancelled out the red better, maybe? Now it does look like a terracotta flower pot, really. Lemon Lady, you are getting into the Jonathan territory, with his Annie Slone paint. Very creative.

    • @LemonstoLemonadeFurniture
      @LemonstoLemonadeFurniture  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank u!! I tried the green first and it barely did anything to the red. I felt like I wasn’t even getting it to show up. So that’s when I knew it would have to be white washed (stained). It really looks like a moss coating up close. Really fits the hanging ivy vines and greenery in her room. Very outdoorsy! I was surprised it was so good! A $5 steal that’s for sure! And saved from the dump!

    Did the stain raise the wood grain? Did you sand between coats?

    • @LemonstoLemonadeFurniture
      @LemonstoLemonadeFurniture  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! No I did not see any raising of the grain however I allowed for full dry times between all 3 coats of stain. I did not sand between the stain coats, only between the 2 coats of poly once dry. thanks for watching!

    My first thought was "this isn't gonna turn out good". You're gonna have bleed-through of the original finish. The green looks like 70's avocado green 🤢. After you finish paint I'm thinking all that work for what? It didn't make sense until the bed in the room and made. Now I get it and it looks beautiful. Great job mamma👍👍

  • @lucymorgan8859
    @lucymorgan8859 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Well, first off, that piece is not from the 70's, it is from the 30's-40's, and is a waterfall art deco bed. It is called waterfall, bcs of the mahogany veneer that wraps around the curved areas, that gives the illusion of a waterfall. Secondly, I think the reason you had such a spotty result with the white stain, was because you wiped it on horizontally, rather than applying it with the diagonal, and vertical direction of the veneer. Your stroke marks with that type of stain are always going to show, so its best to go along with the lines in the grain; with this kind of veneer, I think it might even be best to use a brush... Now, I must admit, when I saw the pop up for this video with that bright green, I was sort of horrified, bcs I thought you were going to paint that beautiful waterfall piece bright green...lol, but it turned out alot better than I ever imagined, since the green stain was so sheer... Way to go on this one!!! You sure fooled me! Great job!

    Kara,
    This is just my opinion. I work on mostly 1930s and 40s furniture. From what I see, I think the footboard is early 1950s. It has the 'waterfall' detail. This detail and companion veneering went out of style about 1955-58. I noticed the word 'WARD' on the back followed by some numbers. This leads me to believe it was made by the Ward Furniture company out of North Carolina. The began business in the late 1940s and are still in business today. They might be able to date it for you.

    • @LemonstoLemonadeFurniture
      @LemonstoLemonadeFurniture  ปีที่แล้ว +1
