    A great documentary.

One thing im confused about this video is that she keeps saying that throwing money is just a show of social status when its really just Nigerian culture whether in the North or South it is how we honor who is dancing. The lack of research when it comes to something so ingrained into nigerian gatherings is kind of ridiculous. We also dont give as many gifts like western culture that is for your parents to do with bridal trunks and dowry(husband pays) so we spray money that the couple will use according to their needs together.

Polygamy is not seen as something good in the west, but Buba truly uses his "right" to marry more than one woman for what it was initially intented in islam: helping single moms or widows

    • @SabzKhumalo
      @SabzKhumalo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

Yep traditionally on Africa polygamy was also used to marry your brothers widow. But it's because women could not inherit land. So pros and cons

    • @centi50s
      @centi50s 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Let me make something clear. Polygamy is not supported in Quran.
      Let's see
      Now before I answer your.
Let's see how the quran describe itself.
      CLEAR GUIDANCE (HUDA)
The perfect guidance to lead mankind aright
      002.002
“This Book (Arabic: Kitabu), there is no doubt in it, is guidance (Arabic: Huda-n) to those who guard (against evil) / fear God
      EXPLAINED IN DETAIL (FUSSILAT)
      041.003
"A Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail / distinguished (Arabic: Fussilat); a Quran in Arabic, for people who understand"
      011.001
"A. L. R. (This is) a Book, with verses perfected, moreover explained in detail / distinguished (Arabic: Fussilat) from One Who is Wise and Well-acquainted (with all things)"
CLEAR EXPLANATION OF ALL THINGS (TIBIANA LEKULLI SHAYIN)
The perfect and only source of clarification
      016.089
“And on the day when We will raise up in every people a witness against them from among themselves, and bring you as a witness against these and We have revealed the Book to you explaining clearly / clarification of everything (Arabic: tibiana lekulli shayin), and a guidance and mercy and good news for those who submit”
tibiana (clarification) lekulli (of every) shayin (thing)
Please note that the Arabic word 'tibiana' is formed from the root 'Ba-Ya-Nun' and forms words such as 'bayan' as we will note in more detail in section 7 below. It has inherent meanings of proof, evidence, demonstration, manifest truth and an argument that is clear.
It is important to remember that from a Quran's perspective, God does not ‘omit’ things which are necessary for human guidance or run out of words.
      006.038
“There is not an animal (that lives) on the earth, nor a being that flies on its wings, but (forms part of) communities like you. Nothing have we omitted from the Book, and they (all) shall be gathered to their Lord in the end”
      031.027
“And if all the trees on earth were pens and the ocean (were ink), with seven oceans behind it to add to its (supply), yet would not the words of God be exhausted: for God is Exalted in Power, full of Wisdom”
From the above verse it is absolutely clear, that if crucial guidance for God's religion were necessary, it would have been expounded in the Quran. There is simply nothing omitted from the Quran which is necessary for the 'deen' of Islam (religion of Islam).
4:20 And if you wish to replace one wife with another, and you have given one of them a large amount, then do not take anything from it. Will you take it by falsehood while it is clearly a sin?
      Quran 24:32
And marry the singles among you and the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves. If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty, and Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.
      Let's break it down:
Rule #1 according to 24:32: Allah is asking us to marry only the single among us
Rule #2 according to 4:20: One wife can be replaced by another wife i.e. a divorce has to take place before one marries another wife
When a married male believer marries a second wife, the second wife would have broken the Rule #1 because he is already married and the married male believer also would have broken Rule #2 because he did not take a wife instead of another (divorce then marriage).
Single man ----> married man (first wife). Now as soon as this married man marries SECOND wife without divorcing first wife, he breaks Rule #2. So the state of polygamy won't even be reached in the first place (without breaking the rules) to have Rule #2 applied to a polygamous situation.
