    Video couldn't have been more timely. Just bought a 67 1600 and I am planning a lot of the same upgrades. Can't wait to see it.

    Man this is one hell of a project. Yeah deleting the widow maker tires is a must. I see buses w em all the time on FB when I was rly looking at busses. Would I have to swap an axle to get rid of em? You should try to use the engine, & wiring harness from the bus the axles are coming out of.

    • @CUTTERUPROB
      @CUTTERUPROB  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Engine that’s in the bus I have sold I think and it would be just as much work to do the t444e engine from the bus as a Cummins and the 12v is a lot simpler.
      On the bus thing it depends on what bus you get. I am not sure the year they switched to hub pilots wheels but I would be looking for those. Much easier to work with

      Those aren’t split rims just 5 spoke daytons. Those rims aren’t that bad to deal with only thing is loosen up the spokes and drive it around or hook up a chain and forklift to pull the tires off. They aren’t deadly if you still use precautions.

    New Scriber! Good looking truck for the age. Thinking of doing a 8.1 swap, lowering somewhat, and converting into a “Tailgating/Cookoff” Truck.

    Front axle air ride can be really sketchy trying to get the front end to work together. Plus driving down the road it will be all over the place. Making turns at any speed will make you feel like your going to roll over. Ran a front air ride truck and found out the hard way that it causes your tires to wear and chop up really bad. Alignments always going to be all over the place because the air bags never return to the same exact spot. Not saying that air ride is bad but I’m more of a type of guy to drop a body over and use air bags to raise and lower everything rather than a suspension air ride. But yes air ride in the rear is the way to go

    • @CUTTERUPROB
      @CUTTERUPROB  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am going set it up like a semi so it will have a mono leaf with a i bag to add lift. I have done a few air ride suspensions. I have had the pains of learning as well lol.
      But I have couple idea as well. If it doesn’t work the way I want to will just redo. Just makes for more videos

    I've got a 1968 international L 1800 with only 7,686 actual miles. It was a fire truck and had no rust with a 392 that purrs like a kitten. Been having trouble deciding what I'm going to do with it. Had a five speed with single speed rear end. Has a heavy rear axle for hauling water tank.

      I think this one is going to end up on a 2015 ford f550 frame

    I enjoy your videos . There was a company i think that builds international trucks that has pick up beds and flat beds to tow with. I like to have a 4 door truck that is low profile may be 19.5 aluminum wheels and a dt 466 that is inner cooled p pump . i prefer a manual and air brakes . . Air ride would be great especially to level up the load . Look forward to your build . I wondering how the allison shift strategy will be as far as lock up and shifting . i had given some thought in doing the allison conversion and using the ATS bell housing designed to fit the stock starter location and i guess there stand along controller in my 95 but i went with the g56 . For towing .

    • @CUTTERUPROB
      @CUTTERUPROB  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not a big fan of the dt466 myself. Don’t get me wrong they work but just not my cup of tea. My left knee likes it a lot better when it doesn’t have a clutch to push. So that’s part of it. The company I was talking with was ( Allison Cummins conversation) just use there whole kit for the swap and I can tune just about everything the way I want it to be.

    • @jimkillen1065
      @jimkillen1065 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK the cummins Allison I considered it for a bit . I think ATS makes bell housing or whatever it is to mate up so the starter right and not required grinding or that's what I was told ..your going to do a 5 or six speed . There was a company that built bad ass pick up bed International truck. My truck has a dt466 13 speed air brakes p pump. 50 k original miles . Its a winch truck . . Look forward to the build . I been looking for a International truck a 4 door low profile ect to use for a toy hauler. Thanks for your videos

    I was just wondering how you were planning on doing the sheet metal for the firewall? I saw a guy that was doing some mods on a FJ40 and he used a steel wheelbarrow to extend his firewall back into the cab. It looked real clean...

      I will build removable panels and a frame to bolt them too. That way it easy to work on

    I like it. I'd love to build one of those into a 4x4 service truck, maybe f550 chassis. Are you planning to put a flatbed on it?

    • @CUTTERUPROB
      @CUTTERUPROB  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will be just a bob tail to start with. But I have some cool ideas for later

    If you wanted to keep it as a work truck, how do you think a 6.9 or 7.3 IDI would work if you stuck with the original trans and differential? I would think being a V-8 diesel they might bolt in easier and require less mods to install. I think international used them in the school buses in the mid to late 80s.

    • @CUTTERUPROB
      @CUTTERUPROB  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I want to run the truck all over the place pulling a 40ft open trailer and in a couple years buy a 48-53 foot enclosed race trailer. So I need the thing up to the task. I feel better with the newer diffs / newer trans auto trans and a good old reliable 12v Cummins

    I would take that 304 off your hands if you want to get rid of it. Same engine as my wife's Scout I believe. Could use some parts or core to rebuild.

    Just curious as to why not a 4 or 5 speed Allison like in a bluebird or something... don't matter

    • @CUTTERUPROB
      @CUTTERUPROB  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They don’t like to hold power ( I know this will end up making 500-600 at the wheels ) that and the final gear ratio in the 6 speeds are better

      But your right they were a cold truck to drive in.
