    Hey, Dustin! Just found your channel and it's exactly what I've been looking for lately. Like and subscribe+notifications!
    I really love how product photography and high-magnification macro have so much in common. It's very weird, because when I was a beginner I remember being so intimidated by even one light, so I kind of ditched the idea until I would become more comfortable with my camera. Fast-forward a few years and I remembered I love reptiles and bugs, so got into macro.
    Quickly realized it was pointless to do it without a flash with proper diffusion because magnification and highly reflective/iridescent subjects really give you an unforgiving environment to work with and certain challenges you have to overcome if you want to get something usable. And when you get past 5:1 things start to become a whole different world in terms of light quality.
    Finding your channel reminded me of product photography and now it makes so much more sense. There is so much these two fields can learn from each other.
    Looking forward to see more content from you!

    PRO HELPFUL TIP👌
    You can skip clicking and applying the action to each photo by using "Image Processor" (you will find it at file->automated scripts->image processor), there you select the folder that contains all the photos, it will automatically use all of what's inside that folder, apply the desired action and also the desired resolution.

    Amazing video! very useful tips. I was wondering how do you deal with smaller products where there is a shallow depth of field? I was thinking of shooting with a wider lens and high-resolution camera so you can crop and still have everything in focus without having to do focus stacking for 360 images, that would be a nightmare. What do you think?

    • @workphlo

    Instead of doing the action on individual layers, If you don't import all the images as a stack, or as long as you maintain the original files before they were opened and stacked, you could run actions on a BATCH of files, and then once done, import them as a stack.

  • @jadebathroom-bathroomandki8720
    @jadebathroom-bathroomandki8720 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice video! After you are done applying the action to all the photos, is there a fast way to export the individual photos, or do I need to save them one by one? Also, do you have a suggestion for a FREE 360 viewer? The one you recommended in the video is a paid service.

    Thx for your help.

    • @workphlo
      @workphlo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe you are shooting at a very high 105mm? At 50mm it will be easier to be sharp.

  • @Alexandra-Rex
    @Alexandra-Rex 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    That thing is really not that expensive. I got to keep it in mind, and they even had my camera listed and supported (Samsung NX1).
    A note on the way you did the action to all the files. I usually use Image Processor in Adobe Bridge (Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor). Then after you've made the action in Photoshop, in Bridge, you can select what file format you want to save as, which resolution and which actions to run, and when you start, it will process them all through Photoshop, and you can choose thousands of images if you want (I've been doing it for raw files from time lapse).

    • @workphlo
      @workphlo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Right! A few clients could cover your whole setup cost with a 360 product photo, I think because there is a higher barrier to being able to "do it yourself".

    Hi Dustin. For 360 product photography there used to be a free website called megavisor that had all the features you need to process and output the images to different formats.
    However they are no longer online, and all the programs online are now paid and ask for a greedy amount of money every month.
