@ThatDrewFitz i think its a vibraphone. but yeah, it was killer good
Exquisito manjar para el oido, excelente musica

That's how it's been since the 40s, that's how it will be. Do something about it!
siiiiiiiick!
Freakin awesome. Vibes guy...don't know who you are but I would love to hear you play some salsa music. You were all excellent.
+Angel Robledo Jr. Angel that's Stefon Harris on vibes sooo good isn't he ?!
+Sharron Smith No doubt Sharon. The guy is excellent. After listening to some of his music I do find a little distracting his vocalizing as he plays along. Only a minor thing. Then again the guy has got some serious skills.
Awesome!
This is what happens when a group of seasoned musicians get together
avishai is the man!!!!!
Cool, I see his name her, haha!
Really nice
That's fun!!!! Just that... FUN!!!!
I hear Lalo Schifrin.in this arrangement. cool.
@barload Or, more like its just a good time for everyone to flip the pages in their charts, like during a sax solo :)
With all the heavies in the room on this song, trust me, no one is losing track of where they are.
I didn't realise Zach Galifianakis played the trumpet. Very cool.
woooooow! :O
@jackcontemusic How did you get Stefon Harris to play on this? and What are you playing in this, or are you? lol
Is there anyway to purchase the audio from this?
@Krazeylogan16 OH MY GOD are you serious? what city?
omfg
Watch in 720p for better sound
@TurboNeon185 Maybe it is better this way. Not every person feels the power in the air, good water, food, music, etc. A person may go to church for enlightenment and find it walking home from someone on the street. These cats practice a trade that took thousands of hours to get like this. It ain't for everybody.
Hey ! Do you know where i can find drum part ?
Eargasm.
sheet music?
@thedj93 is that really an "ugh" moment?
No wonder Miguel Zenon won the MacArthur genius grant.
♫ ♪♫♫♪ !
unfortunately there is little to be done. like sk4764 said, most people don't have the knowledge to appreciate the complexities of something like this. there is no way to force them to learn all the things that make music like this great.
horn intro slightly oot!!
If you don' tlike this you must be a Rebecca Black fan.
@SuperMegaPeanut Nope. Those are vibes. No one is playing the marimba.
very nice
Vibes player is a BEAST
He´s got the vibes
Yessir That's THE Stefon Harris on vibes and he's a serious problem!
the face of the boy, who is filming at 1.45 :D
I love this, it's so funky! Loving the vibraphone player singing the melody at the same time. I covered this track on my channel in an a capella style too. Such a great song!
This is the best version of Superstition I have ever heard.
I had no idea Mike Tyson could play trombone so well
Jack did you film this?
love the recording method... vary reminiscent of the days when they recorded a whole band with one mic but with more clarity... great job jack!!!
Miguel Zenon....far out!!!
The chord progression on the original theme starting at 0.29 is just too good!
I can't stop listening to this, such an amazing arrangement.
That upright bass player is pwning my life right now.
GUYS! The thumb down aint the download button!
love the drum lick on this!
@chrisandnicky - hey - the flaps under the vibraphone rotate, and it causes a tremelo sound. It's basically a physical tremelo instead of a "digital" or "electronic" tremelo. Much like how a leslie speaker rotates to give an organ that vibrato sound
@thegyger - dude... so so so many more coming. 14 songs finished. videos on the way. and a remix of super mario bros. just saying....
💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵👏🏻☮️
SOOOOOOO Nasty, Funky, Organic and Tasteful - Great job SFC and Jack Conte's video concept is AWESOME!
Love Stefon Harris. He's taken my instrument to great new heights. I hope I can play like him some day. I hope I can afford a vibraphone some day for that matter.
Anyone still remembering to listen to this? Still surreal to me that Jack Conte as the creator of Patreon has so little subscribers on TH-cam his content is some on the best
Me brother. My god this is good
@chrisandnicky Those are called "vibes," though they do look like a xylophone. The rotating part under the bars gives it a cool, rotating type tone, like in 5:34. When the bars dip and move, that's the player moving a foot pedal to either let the notes ring (when the bars are up) or deaden them (when the bars fall), like the sustain pedal on a piano.
Where could I purchase a copy of this arrangement? Would love to do this with my High School Jazz Band at Vintage High in Napa! Great Rendition! Loved it!
@shuttledik hey chill, appreciate it for what it is - a re-invention of the tune. it's still pretty damn funky. and if it wasn't for people re-jigging tunes in a way they thought would sound cool, music wouldn't be what it is today
hahaha...yes indeed :-) reminds me of that drummer that actually sang the main theme while he played...can't remember the name though.
@shuttledik I reckon they pulled it off. One man's opinion I guess. Also, as for what's wrong with jazz today, you must be listening to the wrong stuff :P
why is it that the most famous "musicians" have less talent than every single guy in this video? and yet 99% of people will never even hear of these guys. why does it seem that pop music has completely lost sight of any importance of musicianship? these guys are just awesome.
Just HAD to buy this album after seeing this 3 times in a row, haha!
@bigbandman70 Fair enough, man. Least you stated your opinion properly, instead of shouting obscenities at the video.
@DJ0KNUF I believe thats a vibraphone so what you see moving are the motors for the vibrato or tremolo controls.
Is it bad that i admit 5:34 brings me to tears as a full grown man every time i listen to this??? Fuck me this is good. God bless jazz musicians! Actually scratch that.. God bless any musician not involved in satanic death metal.. There, sue me satanists..
That drummer is straight up wear 3-D glasses, and making it work.
Bravo, mr. drummer, bravo....
i love how anything can be mixed with jazz and jazz with anything else. the groove feels alittle off but thats because the repetitive figure played in the backgroud of the original song is not being played regularly so someone unaccustmed will get confused, but make no mistake the groove is there. this isnt funk though this is jazz. one must understand that. All in all well done. the groove is readly audible and felt most east during the xylophone solo. quite nice
@TurboNeon185 Different people, different tastes. E.g. are you a fan of Joyce, or more a Ludlum or Grisham person? do you prefer the Bolshoi Ballet or Mats Eck over Michael Jackson, or Michael Flatley ('Riverdance')? Le Corbusier or the 'average' architect/'designer'? So, don't fret, because being a connoisseur is less purposeful choice and more a consequence of upbringing. And, perhaps because of this, aesthetic judgment is fundamentally 'external' to reason and argument.
.......Okay... a marimba is a percussion instrument consisting of a set of WOODEN keys or bars. A vibraphone is a percussion instrument consisting of aluminum keys or bars and has a pedal along with a motor. So with that information what do you see in the shot...at you didn't call it a xylophone........Anyways I seriously have to listen to this everyday and I am about to buy the album.
Whilst this is clever, I much prefer the original song. Before anyone shouts at me (which they probably will, this being the internet), I actually study jazz at RWCMD in Wales so I do get the idea behind it. I just think in this case, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! That's just my opinion. These guys can sure play as hell play though :)
@sunderlanding @Joe Dessauer both you guys are right in your own way. no question that these guys are all killin individually. however its without energy. you can have a great pocket technically but it takes a really long time to cook. from the last third of miguels solo to the head out the vibe is much better but at first its just limp as hell. almost certainly a rehearsal.
So good. I dig it.
@brandonkalsip - aw sucks...
And it is that you think because everyone can play it that it doesn't groove? Just because it is generic and simple does not mean it isn't good. It may not be to your taste, but I can say that 2654 people agree with me, and 23 agree with you.
Fucking amazing.
@chrisandnicky Jack is dead on about the vibrato on the vibes... The dipping is due to the pressing/releasing of the dampener pedal. This lets the keys ring out or stay staccato. The vibraphone is a wondrous instrument!
I like y'alls's take on it, really cool. Only thing that got me was the key change. I think the groove would've been a little funkier in the original key (Eb I believe). But it's jazzy. I dig it.
@larrybeetree i gotta say alot of jazz people are deep as hell. i think it's cool as s***. anyway thanks for sending me a deep ass response. i wish i could have the mindset you guys have. no sarcasm btw.
