I love the very visible 'thinking all of this up on the spot' vibe that the whole bit with plug disappearing, becoming a ghost and then being in a box has. Its the only time I've ever seen Brennan do a bit where it seems like he's just deciding gonna happen as the words are coming out of his mouth and yet he manages to do it with such gravitas that he keeps lulling them into thinking whatever's going on is really important its so good
This is Brennan Lee Mulligan’s greatest talent: beautiful and important sounding descriptions that are also fucking absolutely Insane because he’s making them up As they are being heard… a master dungeon master.
The thing is Brennan is an amazing improvisor and it is happening ALL the time. He's said his DMing is like trying to guide water flowing down hill. Rather than having firm ideas on what's going to happen, he instead creates incentives that will guide the players' behaviour. He spoke about how he tried running a module ages ago that starts at a wedding and the players kidnapped the bride because to add flavour to things he described her as looking unhappy. Rather than trying to get them back to the plot of the module, he basically wrote an entirely new story with them focused on keeping the bride safe. Plug might be a particularly noticeable example of Brennan's improvisation, but there are tonnes of others. Pretty much anything with Arthur Aguefort is Brennan improvising in a chaotic manner. Noticeable example being Aguefort shooting himself and the councillor to revive the Bad Kids, Aguefort answering Aidaine's summons and turning into a giant that grips the sun in his hand, any of his monologues especially about the invention of the electric lute. Plug does seem like a particularly silly and chaotic example, but it's really not that different from so many others.
Just realized that Brennan used Plug to lure them off the ship and make it a hot exit. He said in Adventuring Party he was expecting them to run from the sheriff. And then after leaving Plug's there was a battle map for fleeing back to their ship. But who wouldn't follow Plug to hell and back
so I know everyone’s comparing Plug to Gilear rn but I just want to mention something about both their progression Brennan’s said that Gilear was originally pretty normal, but to keep the joke going his pathetic-ness had to become gradually more absurd. As the players talk to him more, he becomes more exaggerated. but Plug is absolutely not that, his exaggeration happens almost immediately. Interaction one he has a funny laugh, then says he will die tomorrow. Interaction 2 he snort Kublicane and presumably transcends to the players (although he just teleported under the stuff hut). Interaction 3 he’s a ghost and takes group shots with everyone. Interaction 4 he’s in a box under the stuff hut, hands Sid rocket boots and pulls out a massive cannon to fend off the Amercadians. like, he goes from 0 to 100 within 4 interactions. Not even with a specific character trait, just increasingly weird shit happens with him, it’s great
I think it still holds because the normal amount of time the players were supposed to interact with him was expected to be much less. It was supposed to be a hot exit till zac rolled the nat 20. So it's the "more than normal amount of time" rule, but admittedly more condensed.
I love Plug so much I would lay down my life for him if he was capable of dying Also… that “what you seek is hidden under the hut” bit is the funniest thing in the season so far
Siobhan Lou and Zack looking away in unison at the beginning was so good. There’s a lot of little nuances I miss from laughing so hard or needing to look away myself hahahah
You know that TikTok/shorts effect where you just let the video keep looping because you enjoy it so much? This is the first time I’ve done that with a five minute video. I’ve looped it 8 times already and I just enjoy it more each time
I was listening to this omw to work. Had to fully pull over and get out of the car and lie down on the side of the road to catch my breath, I was laughing so hard
This scene was amazing, it confirmed apparently psychic and tech aren't the only superpowers in the Starstruck universe! Also, Rylee- personal question, how would you build Brennan in D&D? He's an incredible performer and a great guy but no way he's a Bard.
I feel like brennan has used plug’s voice for another npc before but i cannot place it i have been ransacking my mind palace trying to figure it out but i cannot if someone knows or knows i’m wrong and plug’s voice is new pls lmk
The only time someone gave drugs to their plug, not the other way around
He is somewhat Aguefort though
There is nothing Gilear about Plug except that he's an icon
Amen
The anti gilear
Gilear is a pathetic, powerless little ball of neutrality
Plug is an entity of pure whimsy, chaos, and benevolence.
What about the immense amount of joy I get from each?

Obsessed with Lou saying "okay" in response to Plug killing himself with the bag

Plug Bombadil
A god who got bored and decided to open a Stuff Hut
So is clippy apparently
Do you have any idea how much power Plug would have to give up to be merely God?
Honestly very possible, no way there is only one god in that universe

I love Plug's calm yet unhinged, alarmingly cryptic idiolect.
the fact that plug wouldn’t have complained at all if they put him in the bag? i adore him
He’s the Uncle Iroh but without the dark past. Just very chill and has no ill will to even people trying to steal (from) him
