The project definitely got the creative juices flowing. Thanks Andrew. I was going to comment about mounting the blade and then rotating the tank but others mentioned that idea. One other thing I did think of in regards to purging the tank with water. Would filling one tank and then using your trash pump to empty the first into the next one then rinse and repeat. Seems like it could be faster but I don't know for sure. Would use less water and electricity not that is a huge concern for you. Time wise the trash pump would be faster than a garden hose. Again not that you are sitting waiting I know you multitask well. Anyway look forward to part 2.
The ideas you come up with are amazing. The construction of these things are very enjoyable to watch. That's something I've never seen before. Good job Andrew.
I enlarged the video so I could take a good look at the welding you did. Those welds are a thing of beauty, you do great work. Wish I could do that. As always, I enjoyed the video.
FIRST Also, genius idea. Great work! Now, build something that will keep a cutting torch fixed in place so you can put it right up on the tank and then just slowly rotate it to get a perfectly straight line
@@TKCL if anyone can make it work, it’s you! Love your channel and thanks for commenting back! One of my top building/maker channels alongside Diresta, Frank Howarth, and Jimbo’s Garage
variable speed drive wheels on it and you can make an awesome turntable and set up an auto plasma stand to cut it without you being there. I can help you if you want...I've done it before. It's what all of the tank manufacturers use to weld them together. I am an engineer and designer by the way (in case you were wondering.)
Man, with your skill set in all things mechanical and electrical, you should be with FEMA or some kind of local Emergency disaster relief service. Awesome talent!
I think the next thing you need is some kind of water fill station where you can fill the tank, then pump it out and recapture the water so you arent wasting 500 gallons every time. Just a thought.
Wow that propane tank would make an awesome yard roller. Put two greasable ball bearings one on each side steal tube of some kind and weld up a tractor hitch. You could fill it with water and the weight would really level out the yard and make it golf cart smooth over time. Some people use sand as well to spread out in the yard then run the roller over and rake the grass back through.. Interesting stuff!!
@@TKCL I don't know what Bearings are available but make sure they are good ones.. All the ones I see get trashed after a few years because either its a lack of maintenance or the Bearings can't be changed out. I can't wait to see that project lol!! Don't forget to tag the lawn care community because a roller like that is insane for ground leveling and would be amazing for some big time projects like grass runways and stuff..
Heck some Asphalt companies have been experimenting with rollers similarly like that filled with water and water sprayers not sure what the water sprayers do exactly but I know they have water nozzles before and after the roller while rolling down the asphalt.
fabricate an arm that holds your angle grinder locked in place, that's spring loaded to keep the grinder on the tank so all you have to do is rotate the tank
Andrew, I have a flux core welder and I know you use gas with yours. Would ever consider making a how-to tutorial on the basics. You make a mount for your plasma cutter and you could just spin the tank as it cuts.
I've always shyed away from teaching welding. People get hostile over it for some reason, especially the professionals. I honestly still have a lot to learn myself.
Matt Carriker of Demolition Ranch and self named TH-cam channels mentioned in one of his latest videos he needed a custom smoker for the Desperado. Might be a good co-lab opportunity with his combined 15 million subs.
i love how you are recycling old and damaged pieces to be functional tools to help out around the homestead. just curious was that from the tornado you had awhile back?
I'm sure you thought of this already, but that thing can do double duty. Flip it and put the wheels down and that would make a very strong dolly to help move items. Just sayin'
OK hear me out for a part 3 even though you havent sorted out a part 2. A mounted, high torque motor on a variable speed controller foot pedal, with a rubber wheel to rotate the drum/tank at the speed of your choice with the push of a pedal, and then an arm to mount one of those Evolution metal cutting circular saws to, to help with arm fatigue and boom you have a tank/barrel cutting robot. I really dont think the idea would even be that far fetched lol couple that with being able to variably size the holding wheels to accept different sized tanks and drums and boy you'd be in business.
LOL we think alike, I have had that idea in my head for at least a year. I can't really justify it since I no longer have a tank buyer contact. These might be some of my last tanks for projects.
I think if you do your cutting outside your shop with your rotator, you don't have to clean your shop and also you are going to have a greener grass because of the iron.
I don’t know how practical this is but when you need to fill your tanks up with water why don’t you take your trash water pump and go to your flooded land and use that water.
🤔🤔🤔🤔 I have a few ideas for your rotisserie rack but I ain't going to put my two cents in it because then I will get blame for you having to work more 🙄
It is a very practical and attractive idea.👍
Thank you for watching
Hi, Andrew! Mr. Thinker Tinkerer, you continue to WOW me. I love your reasoning.
Thank you
I absolutely love the thought process and get er done attitude. That is why I love the Kelly's Country Live channel. I am a big fan of great content

That is such a great idea! Easy on your back too.
I think so too!
Love the make it adjustable idea..

Thank you very much!
Good guy Andrew! All the metal that was blown down in the tornado 3 years ago. You saved and that's like golden now that you have your metal shop.
I'm actually using some of the tornado damaged metal tomorrow.
Andrew = McIver. Nice tool you made to help save the back.
Thank you for watching
Glad to see you finally got around to building you a tank rotisserie! You will be very happy with the results.
I needed to do this a long time ago.
That will come in handy for you. 😊

I had been considering that. However I've lost my tank contact and not sure how many more I'll be cutting.
Genius idea! 💪
Thanks!

Put stops on the ends, motorize it. Make a lever arm for the grinder and let the machine do the work. First ever Tank lathe!
I was hoping for a roller when I see that big tank but it does make a huge fire pit!
I've already made a smaller one, higher roller planned in the future.

Metal never goes away. You can always reuse even the least little scrap
I hoard more than I should.
Hi Andrew, good video. I love what you come up with. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
Glad you like it
You should extend your cement floor in the shop out about 10’ for your projects
I want to build a 20ft overhang in the future with concrete floor.
Great idea to roll the tanks easier. Just tried to use your Amazon affiliate link hopefully it works
Thank you so much
That should be handy👍
I almost replied with the red green motto.....
It sure is!

Ok. Hear me out. Save that middle section and make a giant offset smoker.
I've already got a tank set aside for a smoker. I want a 250 gallon max, I don't cook for enough people to justify the 500.

Drop a m80 in it and run 👀🤣🤣

No, that was a crate for my flail mower. I hate throwing away good steel.
To be continued.... Man, I haven't watched a cliff hanger since the 80's. 😂
Lol
I was sitting there watching hoping you were going to leave some tabs vs cutting thru... I was like there goes the generator
Exactly
I'm sure you thought of this already, but that thing can do double duty. Flip it and put the wheels down and that would make a very strong dolly to help move items. Just sayin'
Exactly my wife was mentioning that today.

Get a new contract tons of old tanks at scrap yards and used propane places call and ask they sell them real cheap
@@TKCL I hear that, but man would be cool content ha.
Could you have a fixed plasma cutter on the line you want cut and then just spin the tank while the plasma cutter is stationary?
It would be difficult to do, the tank can shift on the way around. I would have to fabricate something to hold the tank in the same exact position.
I think if you do your cutting outside your shop with your rotator, you don't have to clean your shop and also you are going to have a greener grass because of the iron.
Problem is your baking in the sun, it's already in the 90s here.
What brand of cutting wheels do you use? I have similar cutting to do in my wheels. Don't seem to last
I have had excellent luck with these amzn.to/3KFouvc
You really got to manage your volume levels. That loud stuff is really loud.
I do in editing, I cut the volume down a lot for the saws.
Where does the 500 gallons of water go? It could be used for your garden or other places. We only know the worth of water when the well is dry
It's watering my grass, the water returns to the same earth it was pulled from.
Not true the ground absorbs a lot of it so very little will make it back to the water table for years so waste of water use it for other things
I don’t know how practical this is but when you need to fill your tanks up with water why don’t you take your trash water pump and go to your flooded land and use that water.
I agree not very practical many other ways to get it done with out this like a chain blade for tanks one cut and done
I could never get this down my trails, plus I'm already getting stuck unloaded.
