Dolly Parton is a national treasure! Truly beautiful inside as well as out. With the wildfires here in Tennessee a few years ago, she donated so much of her time and personal finances toward rebuilding, donating clothes, making sure that kids had books and toys. She is huge on child literacy. She's one of those celebrities who stay true to their roots and give back to the community where they grew up. She makes appearances at Dollywood regularly but unfortunately, she's only been there when I haven't. I would love to meet her and stand there, awestruck and fumble tongued, not being able to say a word. Lol

I once got stuck in the rain in my fully uncovered Jeep Wrangler, and it messed up the disc changer making me unable to use any buttons, eject, volume, sticking on what was currently playing - the CD of Brad Paisley, Mud on the Tires. For over a year, my only choices were silence, or Brad Paisley at full volume. One day, while driving down the road, out of nowhere the CD ejected on it's own - without even thinking about it I grabbed that thing and flung it out the window like a frisbee... just hearing that piece of the song made me flashback PTSD 🤣😂

That Josh Turner one got me. I absolutely knew it, even sang it out loud, but could not make that connection. But hell yeah, Josh got attention from this. He is great with such a recognizable voice yet because he has some more traditional sensibilities he rarely is a hit maker in modern country music. He will dabble in popular trends to stay on radio, but his more gospel and traditional songs are the ones i really enjoy.
My favorite country song? That's not too tough to answer. Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle and Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman ... they were the songs I danced with my daughters at their weddings (there wasnt a dry eye in the house lol. Especially mine. Imagine a 6'4" 220 lb man, sobbing uncontrollably, nose running, apologizing because I got snot on their veils) They both told me not to worry about it because they both got snot on my tux. 😂 Also, Live Like You Were Dying, Bless the Broken Road, Whiskey Lullaby, and Let's Make Love do spring to mind as having a special place in my heart.
We had a tribute band that used to play at a lot of the honky tonks and roadhouses up in New York (yes, we have those lol) years ago called Shania Twin. The lead singer really looked and sounded exactly like her. Which was great because Shania Twain and Faith Hill are my country crushes.

My favorite country song is Ain't Enough Whiskey by Kameron Marlowe. I went to see Thomas Rhett live and Kameron opened for him. I didn't really know who he was, I had obviously listened to some of his music leading up to the show, but I didn't think anything special of him. He performed before Thomas and I still didn't think much of him, but then Thomas brought him back on stage to play another song of his choosing and he played Ain't Enough Whiskey. The raw emotion this man put into that song brought me to tears and for that reason this song will forever be my favorite country song.

It's mostly pop stars that want an easy market. Create all the cross over sub genres you like. It doesn't make it country music just because they slap that label on it.
