Earned some MAJOR cool mom points by re-lacing my son’s glove ahead of high school tryouts. He had his doubts, I had backup help available if I couldn’t do it, but thankfully, I pulled off a miracle thanks to this video.
I wish I could add pictures because this isn't the normal baseball glove stitching "thank you." But, this video helped a lot. I flint knap (I make stoneage arrowheads, spear points, and knife blades out of obsidian, flint, chert, and other stone). I was hired to do a project for a Christmas present for a guy who played semi-pro hockey and baseball. The knife blade is a rare type of obsidian in a handle made from a hockey stick, with a display made from a hockey stick blade and a puck. However, the sheath is made from a deconstructed baseball glove that I wanted to keep certain parts for their logos, then after putting it together, add and redo some of the stitching along the sides. Not what most people use your video for, but this video helped me A LOT. Thank you!
Thank you for this, man! I have a glove I bought for one buck as a teenager on a thrift store back in 92 when I lived in your country. Recently, I was moving old stuff around and it saw daylight again after like a decade, but all the leather lacing was all dryed up and crumbling apart. This video is perfect to do almost a full relace to it after almost 40 years since it was new! Cheers from Argentina!!
I found this on EBay from someone I bought my new laces from “ multiple laces to relace more than 1 area of your glove. Typical fielder’s glove will need three to four laces to do the whole glove. You will need five to six for a Trapeze style, first baseman’s glove or catcher’s mitt.”
This is a great video and super helpful with some of the relacing I’ve needed to do. Just wondering if you plan on doing a relace of a mod loop web? Our dog got ahold of the laces and it needs to be relaced
Palm is slightly incorrect. When you get to the edge of the heel and you cross over, the lace should not exit into the glove but stay within the leather. So you go internally from one hole to the other. Otherwise good job. Thanks for the video.
3.5/16″ is right in the middle of traditional sizes. Great because you can use one size for the whole glove. 1/4″ is mainly used for the webs and fingertips. 3/16″ is mainly used for palms, heels, pinky, and thumbs.
OMG!! I’m lacing my sons glove right now and got lost on pattern!! You saved my life. Thank you for this!!!!

What size laces should one use? Is it the same for the whole glove? 1/4 for the fingers and web?
What lengths/width on the leather do you need typically?
What kinda needle are you using there?
How much lace does it take to relace a glove? Thanks so much for this video! Really awesome stuff here.
Depends on type, web, position

What lace do I use
Where did you get the laces from
they have their own supply of laces they get with their leather distributors
I just undid everything because the laces rough side was pointing out
The best
If you say K one more time I this video I'm going to scream. Bro nice work. But that K after every finish is just brutal.
