    Just had a debate with a Soft era fan. He said today's NBA is 'by far' better AND more skilled than the 80's, 90's, and early 00's. He said you have to go off stats. The modern media really has them thinking quantity and likes is more important than quality and authenticity. The NBA's ratings and apparel sales have plummeted, but those stats don't matter. Go figure.

    I’m 41 years old, and at points in my life, I was completely obsessed with NBA basketball. The reason I rarely watch anymore is because the game I loved has been completely bastardized. They’ve completely thrown out the rule book. I don’t like the modern interpretation of traveling, but I can accept the gather step. But, that’s just the beginning. Ball handlers are being allowed to carry on nearly every possession. Almost every screen is illegal. Players are regularly allowed to run with the ball after a catch. Offensive players are given every advantage and defenders aren’t allowed to defend. So, allowing all these offensive violations, there’s no way to stay in front of someone, so defenses are always collapsed, which is what’s leading to all the 3’s. If they officiated the game the way the rule book states, some of the variety that most of us preferred would return.

    • @blancosmoke
      @blancosmoke 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @@TheRealMindCrime I would as well. I do believe the players of today have some skill that previous generations didn’t have. I think the average NBA player is a better shooter, better ball handler, and is more athletic than in previous generations. I’d like to see them be allowed to apply that athleticism on the defensive side of the ball, and then see modern players have to adapt by developing skills they don’t have, such as post play. I turned on a random game a couple weeks ago and the first 50 second sequence I saw had 7 straight misses 3’s between the 2 teams. I rewound it back and counted 5 carrying violations. I was so disgusted I just turned it off.

    Lets not forget that the majority of the media went with the flow of the changes in the rules and who the NBA chose to be the "one" to follow. This is business at the end of the day and unfortunately for the organization (NBA) they thought they have a winning product with this changes. JJ is part of this movement and knows that if he goes against it he has no job at all. Now The Inside the NBA panel has 3 professional all start veterans players that have knowledge of the game from A to Z and they since day 1 never have sugar coated nothing when giving there opinion.
    If you pick a person who has never seen the NBA in the beginning and you show them how it started, how it evolved, the changes made, the players; the way the played, dress, spoke to there teammates, to the media and how the fans reacted during the games: im 100% sure that person that has never seen the game in its beginning would say this words about the NBA now are: what the hell happened here?
    JJ is just a puppet which is just being himself that will never say I take accountability of what is happening with the team and this has to stop; again this will never happen. And to close this rant 😂 today NBA is not a team game; its a look what i can do game.

    They are taking the same approach as the WNBA. They want you to like it just because they are playing.
    They say that not every team plays the same. They might not have the same action, but they end up doing the same. Shooting a bunch of threes.
    The NBA and the media are forgetting one important thing:
    No one stopped to think if the following was going to be appealing to the fans:
    Shooting a bunch of threes. The media talks about more guys hitting threes, but they forget the bunch of them that are missed.
    Almost no post play. Just look at how few players post up. Most of the centers don't even have a hook shot.
    No one boxes out anymore.
    Almost no one shoots the mid-range.

    LeBrain started to destroy the REGAL NBA 14 years ago when he left for Miami to join Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosc trying to win 8 championships in a row. JJ Redick doesn’t know nothing about LeBrain, who hired him to allow him to blackmail mail JJ to continue to play with LeBrain. When LeBrain doesn’t play a lick of defense walking or standing all the time, JJ cannot say a word but has to caress his “Lover Boy”, LeBrain!

      This is what I saw. He still dribbling when he steps backwards and doesn’t gather until he’s already behind the three point line. Then it’s two steps backward again, and then he leaves his pivot foot, which I usually see called as a travel since he switches from the backward to the forward motion, but the pivot foot travel is the only violation I see here.
      He’s been doing it for years and the refs don’t give Steph much leeway.

    With the nba we're talking about loosing customers, people who used to watch. Barkley didn't convince them they were bored by 3h games of bench players shooting 55 3s. I'm at the point that I don't watch until AFTER the all star game cause that's when teams need to do the final push and can't be too conservative with rest etc.

    In reference to a video you reacted to a couple months ago maybe a couple weeks ago: three-point shooting is not better today's players are in no way shape or form better at anything than previous generation of players. This is especially the case moving from the 20/10 to the 2020s in a three-point shooting as I think that videos stats showed less than one percent improvement which was the smallest improvement of three-point percentage since the three point line was introduced.
    The so-called more talented players need to be able to get away with more steps before I travel is called. I'm allowed to get in the rest space and throw a tantrum that my toddler never could without getting a technical when they should be ejected and the one thing they're supposed to be better at they have improved by less than one percent
    These players are not more talented. They're just allowed to get away with shortcuts that devalue the game as long as they don't bring any competitive fire to the game.

    For me, JJ Reddick becoming Lakers coach is what killed the LOGO. Jerry West is the definition of competetion. Losing almost 10 finals before winning one. And even after winning that ring, it smelled funny to him (too easy win!).
    And you bring up the guy who called him "a plumber" to coach his Team with the Flop king as your main super star... Nothing left in life to live for. Poor Jerry, witnissing such downfall of his beloved game, and beloved franchise!

  • @CasualGamerPlays
    @CasualGamerPlays 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Well, if JJ Redick and other media members are saying that the game is better because the players today can shoot 3's, then that's not enough. The players of the 80's and 90's could also shoot 3's but, that part of the game wasn't emphasized, defense, ball movement and the mid range game was emphasized and it made for a better entertaining game. There were players such as Mark Price, Craig Hodges, Reggie Miller, Chris Mullin, BJ Armstrong, Kenny Smith, Steve Kerr, just to name a few, that could shoot the 3 but again, even they had a mid range game and didn't utilize the 3 until needed and would make them.
    This generation of ball is wack! You hardly see any ball movement, players don't play both ends of the floor, and they are paid too much and sit out games for no reason at all. They are more about royalty instead of loyalty to the organization and fans.

    Redick's whole persona wasn't like this before (atleast what we see in public). But the moment he got signed by Klutchsports his whole being completely changed. He feels like he is this whole authority that cannot matched and will never be wrong in everything. Some instances he even talks like LeBron too. Makes me think if there's like a media/acting seminar that they do in Klutchsports for all this bs. There's gotta be a tipping point for this whole LeBron campaign situation until it crashes down. No matter what the controllers/narrative creators make, there can't be too much of everything in this place, balance will always find itself in.

"Word of mouth" has always been the best marketing plan. It's free and always makes a different. Humans are social beings. We always ask our peers.
