    I hate that Linus is being berrated for his personality...

      He rly just seems like a blunt pragmatic guy. I like him. He seems to admit when he is wrong but argues while he thinks he is right and he is often right. It must get on his nerves getting called a bastard all the time.

    How come Linus accepts an invitation liek this? It looks like an ambush to make him back down from his opinion and his personality.
    Look, you can't have a technical guy with soft opinions. Things either work or they don't. There are no foggy things in the mind of technical people, otherwise planes would fly only sometimes, sometimes they would fall without explanation.
    HAve you ever seen such bigotry against the Federal Reserve AND people complain that they want their opinions heard AND the Federal Reserve listening to them?
    This whole conference is ridiculous.
    The fact that they are in front of an audience as if nothing is happening, as if they do not understand the tone of the conference, is ridiculous.

      @Destructerator 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +gmoschwarz Completely agree. Linus is a technical guy with a very recognizable name tied directly to an OS, so a lot of people assume he's a Bill Gates business-minded character with lots of "padding" for talking with large audiences.
      Edit: TH-cam's HTML filtering is failing me

      It confusing that you have these incredibly knowedgeable people in front of you and all you want to do is bitch and moan about him. There are so many interesting questions to ask.

    @10:05 haha yeah people are different but how about good manners Linus! Poor argument man, go back to coding.

    • @gmoschwarz
      @gmoschwarz 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Willy De la Cruz Sierra ... well. if they keep asking stupid questions like "why did you say my code is idiotic?"... Because it is... How is that bad manners?... Please note I meant idiotic in the greek sense of the word.

    • @pward17
      @pward17 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Manners are bloatware. This being said I try to be as courteous as possible but that's because I need people to like me. Not everyone is that way.

    • @MaggotDiggo1
      @MaggotDiggo1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pward17 Wanting people to like you and not creating enemies is pretty normal. I had to like your comment for the bloatware comment though.

    • @pward17
      @pward17 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MaggotDiggo1 yeah I agree it's fine and normal to want people to like you but the reason I'm nice is a deeper more selfish reason and that is because I would like others to treat me that way as well and that seems to be a way to make them do that.

      He is nice when he is nice and he is really un-nice when he is un-nice. Quote from him: "I like offending people, because I think people who get offended should be offended." :D

    it's a shame you can't be real anymore. Linus is real to the core. You couldn't say that shit nowadays and get away with it unfortunately

  • @probablynotmyname8521

    “Ive stepped away from development because i dont like what youre saying.” Good, go away, it means that you cant take criticism and if you get hurt because someone uses obvious hyperbole how are you going to react when told your code isnt any good? Taking linus’ silly insults personally says more about the person than it does about linus. Offence is taken, not given.

      I was thinking the same, i dont take that as disrespect! And if the person is teaching me or mentoring me in any way it will make me try even harder to be better and gain my mentor respect. but thats just how i see things
