I would like to thankyou for making this informative video on Balacharey festival. Here are some corrections or additional informations that I have known from seniors : 1. The Kathmandu was reformed by Gunkamana Deva 1st in around 10th century by establishing Astamatrika at 8 corners in a shape of Khadga. He was Licchavi king 2. The very first day of Balacharey actually starts from Ekadashi . In the evening of Ekadashi, a buffalo is sacrificed and the main door of the temple near by Bishnumati is closed. Its said that they used to close it for 2 full days , until the replica statue from Dya Chhe was brought there for Gamey Thanegu. In present day the door is closed just for 15 to 30 minutes. 3. The palanquin of ajima is taken to Bhudi Ganesh shrine after its brought from Luti shrine as a symbol of searching his eldest son to take thahity along with her. But Bhudi Ganesh, would already be in Thahity before Luti Ajima arrives Thahity. 4. The old family whose had been handling jatra for centuries got into family dispute and later it was handed over to the Malla family originally from Pharping. Today , the same Malla family handles the celebration. The only active groups are those Malla family and Sayami community of Thahity 5. The Swet bhairav of Chhetrapati is considered to be Husband of Luti Ajima. My grandmom still remembers he also used to have separate palanquin and there used to be all together 7 palanquins. Today only 6 exists, and the jatra of swet bhairav stopped a long time ago because of disputes between Guthi

I didnt knew it matched the Jatra of my town 😯 Nhega Jatra(Seven Village) including kirtipur,Machchhegaun, Satungal & others nearly matched the balacharey jatra ❤❤ Its coincidence or the story some how matches the story of our Jatra here in my town! Thanks for the info 🙏
Hajur!! Yeta jatra ko rati hom(fire ritual) garda aago ma faleko euta parewa(bakhun) udera tya bakhu(balkhu) tira jhareko re!! Tya dekhi uta ni indrayani jatra suru vako vancha, actual chai thaha vayena tara yeta hom gareko kharani(ash) uta ko manche harule lina aaucha re... Ani plus uta ko jatra ko name pani bakhu mada jatra ki k vancha haina?? Plus tyo tune ni same nai bajaucha... :)
