Sadly in 2009 Brian contracted Swine flu which resulted in him dealing with voice Dysphonia. He struggled for years but has fought to regain his amazing voice, and in just the past few years his voice is beginning to be 100% after years of working so damn hard to get it back. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 He deserves so much respect! As a fan you gotta be proud him! Backstreet Boys forever!!!!!!!!

Their entire album Never Gone is in this style and I love it, I think it's their best album. Highly recommended! From that album on, they definitely made a switch to this more mature sound and it fits them so well. And you're right, it does remind me of The Reason by Hoobastank!

Never Gone, in my opinion, opened a path of revolution to 90s boy bands. It was after Incomplete that 90s boy bands started to flock back into studios. The summers between 2005-2007 witnessed many such revolution in pop music when many supposed established legends HAD to revolutionize themselves in the face of emerging talents who were nigh unstoppable.
This actually came out in 2005-06... This is from their album Never Gone. I consider this their spin off album because it has such a different sound to their previous and later albums. I recommend you do a track by track reaction and to their greatest mv ever from the same album. "Just Want You To Know"
Looooveee this!! They're so fricking good, it's ridiculous! They sing and harmonize so well together.
Fun fact. Of the 20 plus years they've been doing this, they've never won a Grammy. Such a shame.
I hope one day they receive a lifetime achievement award or something. They truly deserve the recognition for coming back each and every time with great music and basically sold out stadiums.
People really need to give them credit for still going to this day.
There's a reason why Never Gone is a top 3 BSB album for me, the entire album has this sound of more pop-rock tracks, less producer-made synthesizer beats, which really suited their maturing voices at the time of its release. Highly recommend checking it out.
This album was actually released in 2005 & remains my fave BSB album! This may be my fave song on that one. "Climbing the Walls" is a close second. Those harmonies. 😍

One of the strengths about BSB is that they continue to mix things up every few years, constantly reinventing themselves so they don't get stale. That way, the fans don't get sick of them, and their relevance stays high.

YES STEVEN OMG!!! Story time, Never Gone Tour was my first concert ever and was such an incredible moment in BSB's career. This album plus Unbreakable from 2007 both have this great pop-rock sound, and I live for it!!!!!

Loving your review of this song. You should check out some of Nick Carters solo stuff. His first solo album has a lot of pop/rock like this on it. Never Gone as a BSB album on the whole is all this kinda style. It's such a good album. The great thing about them is that each album is different from the last and they were never afraid to experiment and try different styles.
I Still actually came out in 2005 on their album Never Gone. But all their older videos came out on youtube in 2009

Never Gone is one of my favorite BSB albums. Even though is doesnt have those dance track they have been known for. The vocals on this album are amazing.

This was high school for me, as this came out in 2005ish when I was 16 I went over the moon when they album came out. They did this sort of sound for a good while over the years. Crawling back to you and Poster Girl were my absolute favs from Never Gone!

I listened to this track 16 years ago way way back in 2006... it randomly popped into my head just now... And I would be clearly lying if I said that I didn't cry a stream of tears when I listened to it after the stroke of midnight.. Backstreet Boys were indeed one of the greatest bands of my childhood but this is arguably the best song they have ever produced

If you like this, I think you'll love a lot of the songs on the Unbreakable album. "In Pieces" and "You Can Let Go", and the single from that album, "Inconsolable", are all great pop rock songs that build up to a really soaring climax. Some of my favourite songs of all time, let alone favourite BSB songs. There's also a really interesting experimental kinda song called "Unsuspecting Sunday Afternoon" that is definitely worth a listen. I think this album is both one of their most underrated, unknown... and best.

The Never Gone album came out in 2004 when pop music had drifted to a more "poprock" sound. Interestingly, Backstreet recorded an R&B version of songs for Never Gone--an entire album + worth of material that was never released!! Someone (bets were on AJ or Nick) released most of that material on Napster and those lucky enough to catch it, kept the material on their computers. The BEST songs of those not released were Song For The Unloved (grammy material, that one, there is a rock AND R&B version) and Love Is. You can find them on youtube if you look around!!

You might enjoy reviewing Nick & Knight, the 2014 album done by Nick Carter and Jordan Knight of NKOTB. The big single was probably One More Time. They toured a bit for it as well, and there's some fun footage on TH-cam; they do a 90s compilation number that never fails to make me smile.

I must say it's so fucking cool to see a male appreciate these 5 super talented men. Their harmonies are just beautiful together! Nick has always had an incredible voice, but it's on a whole new level now. You should hear him sing "Falling Down", esp. live. He dedicated it to his sister Leslie who died in 2012. Check out "Hurts To Love You" as well, that was dedicated to Aaron. Another video you should watch is when he was on The Masked Singer, if you haven't already -- holy hell!

Most music videos before 2009 were uploaded onto TH-cam in that year. The year the song came out and sometimes the album are listed with the other credits in the description box. This song is from their 2005 album Never Gone. The released a different album in 2009 and another in between that in 2007.
They had 3 albums that had a more Adult Contemporary feel to them Never Gone (which this song is on), Unbreakable (which actually had a lot of genre sounds on one album) and This is Us.
Nick Carter has changed his voice a ton, he joined the group at a very young age and his voice just changed over time I think it’s an edge from AJs voice in that plus his love of rock and alternative music
This was around the point I wasn't really paying attention to them anymore, then I got back into them when In A World Like This came out in 2014. I discovered Nick's amazing raspy rock voice when he was on the Masked Singer a couple years ago where he did Journey and Bon Jovi, which I thought were way better for his voice than most BSB stuff (look it up on youtube if you haven't seen it, his voice is amazing and I'm not usually a fan of his voice). I think I need to go back to this album lol.

This is actually from early to mid 2000's, i agree that their more mature sound is amazing, their longevity is due to their amazing vocal talent. They were labeled a boy band, but they're so much more than that.

I know The Fray's first album was 2005 the same year this came out but I didn't hear of The Fray until 2006/07 where as I'd known of The Backstreet boys for like a decade before them (I'm from England) and I doubt BSB even heard of The Fray before they did this song so The Fray had nothing to do with this lol
