I recommend taking the upper path and follow Falco (and Slippy) since there are more enemies then the lower path with Peppy for a chance to shoot down enemies for more kill points for a medal. It is possible to score more than 150 points before entering the boss battle in the All-Range Mode for a showdown with Shogun and his two henchmen for 19 points, bringing up to 170 total points in Sector Y and a medal if Slippy, Peppy, and Falco do survive in Sector Y when completing one. Next stop: Aquas as the next mission.
Yea I had to take the upper path & I finally got to 150 before I initiated the Boss Fight! If I tried the lower path than I would always end up with 140-147 even after the Boss Fight
The thing about bosses, (including those yellow pieces of the core you have to shoot on bolse) is that they're initially worth 11 kills, but the amount they're worth is reduced over time, so the longer you take to kill the boss, the less kills you get for it. The lowest amount of kills you can get from a boss is about 3.
Yes you are 100% correct! I actually had no idea that was a thing back when I made these videos. I wish I did because I think it's important to mention and probably causes confusion for some. Ouch.
To start off, fire a bomb at cluster of Triangle Fighters and a secret Blue Shogun Trooper will appear before you, when you reach the Grazan Carrier, fire a bomb to destroy the 2 neat rows of Triangle Fighters it spits out at ya, then you can take either the high or low path and shoot the Triangle Fighters that advance towards you, when you reach the Dorisby blockade you can either go up or down, the upper path has more enemies but I don’t recommend taking that path if you’re strapped for bombs as you’ll need at least 3 to maximize your results, if your low on bombs take the lower path, it still has a decent amount of enemies and is still fun in it’s own right, also shortly after when you see your teammates fly into a triangle formation boost and make it a diamond formation in order to get an extra life, you may have to brake a bit in order to avoid colliding with them, finally just take out the bosses and you should be home free, as for a strategy, I for one like to get some distance between myself and them before turning around to start an attack run and bombarding them with laser fire until they either explode or I close the distance between them, it’s a sound strategy and it works great for me I’m sure it will for you too
So i just played Sector Y. I was trying to get the medal, needing 150 points. You want to know how many i ended up getting? 149. Had i shot just ONE MORE ENEMY before the boss, i would have gotten the medal. All of my teammates were alive, too.
OMG!! This lvl was extremely annoying imo I don’t know why but the different path thing really screwed me up, it wouldn’t be so bad if the developers actually showed you when the path splits or give you sum kind of clue.
Man I'm having such a hard time with sector z. I just started playing SF again for the first time since 2015 and I'm struggling to get anywhere even close to my old scores. I guess I just gotta keep playing and get the skills back that I used to have, but jeeze I'm barely getting 115 entering the boss fight.
I got a question. When I first had this in 96. I had a shark pad. For auto fire. Do I need an expansion pak on my box to use one. I bought 3 on eBay. None of them work thanks
No I've never heard of an expansion pack being required for any sort of auto-fire or rapid-fire controllers. I think you can rest assured that that's not the case here. My wild guess here is that the auto-fire controller may actually pressing the button TOO fast - the reason I think this is because in order to shoot as fast as I do in the videos you actually don't press the button very fast at all. I've actually considered making a video about this, since its so hard to explain in a comment, but if you press it slow enough, you will actually fire three shots with each a press. Anyway though, do your auto-fire controllers have an adjustable speed to them? If they do, you might actually want to try slowing down the speed at which it presses the button. Again though, this is a wild guess on my part. Either way I hope you are able to figure it out.
Yeah Aquas was really hard for me when I was first collecting all of the medals, one of the most difficult in the game in my opinion actually. Controlling the Blue Marine Sub is so different than the Arwing, it really can be a challenge. The good thing though is if you can get manage to get a medal there, it probably means that you'll breeze through most of the other levels if you keep at it!
@@HaskieGaming I'm trying my best. It's a task for sure. The only reason om doing this believe it or not, is because my brothers and I want to multiplayer mode to fight on foot. So I have to earn expert mode this way
Ah yes! Fighting on foot! That mode totally blew my mind the first time I saw it. Just so you're aware though in case you didn't know, you'll also have to get *all of the medals a second time on expert mode* once you unlock it. Good luck to you!

Great video series, I'm going after the medals myself and your tips have really helped.
Thanks so much! I'm glad this series is helping you out. Good luck on the rest!
Thanks for this. Sector Y and Sector Z are giving me the most trouble
I'm rootin' for ya. Are those your last two?

No I procrastinated long enough to only get ONE single point off Granga during a low score run attempt
I had to crank up the brightness just for this stage, thank you for the tips! Made this stage look easy!
Thanks a lot. Yeah that one's pretty hard at first until you get some stuff memorized. Good luck with the rest of the game!
Thanks so much for these guides!
Never noticed the bits on the side of the carriers. There’s more fighters if you take the top half and let falco take the bottom. 😃

Somehow I always felt going the upper path made it easier to medal
Go up not down there are way more enemies
Now I just need to get sector y, aquas, zoness, and area 6.

160 on the 2nd try lol

I tried. Couldnt get but 139
That's pretty close though, you should give it another try! Sector Y is a little tough, you can do it though.
@@HaskieGaming I honestly didnt think I would get a reply on this I'm so late lol. I got it but the under water level killed me. Didnt come close.
