Build something like this for your kid, so when he plays with action figures he can throw them off, or have a fight for the death on the walk way. Man I miss being a kid.

(Jk it's basically a free flowing bidirectional gate that would allow the water based on pressure difference) in simple words, it's just a gate for the sake of having a gate. I get your point about being able to control it. But, again perpetuality isn't really viable, it would most certainly require some form of energy input.
