Sometimes you literally forget about their condition and treat them like you would any other ""Normal"" friend, which is what freddie does a lot of time. I always found JJ to be the most relatable, in all of the generations. I was more or less the same at the age he's supposed to be, although I had a better lid on my emotions (maybe too much like a Vulcan at times), more of a dry/deadpan wit and sarcastic person. Four years after this generation, in my mid to late 20's, I was diagnosed with Agoraphobia, Panic Disorder, and Asperger Syndrome. He's my favourite TV Aspie.
He is a brilliant representation of what alot of people with aspergers are like (I have it). We are quite kind, and innocent for the most part. We see the best in everyone but socially, terrible.

I have autism and I relate to jj’s story. I felt like my friends outgrow me at one point. I’m socially awkward and emotionally underdeveloped, I just didn’t understand the drama and why things couldn’t be simple it made me SO upset I just wanted to tell them all to just forgive and forget but it’s not that simple. Socialising isn’t easy.
JJ is arguably the bestest and most relatable character in all the series. He's a real man of courage and skill even if he might lack it. As a fellow aspie (a person with Aspergers like him) I really relate to him and does the Asperger people a shed of positive and funny light

Yea I disliked Cook until we saw more of him, then I understood why he acted the way he did. Being an unwanted child who often acted out for attention was basically the only life he knew, and he wasn’t a terrible friend, at least to some of the people in the group.
well people treated freddie really badly too. he had to be the responsible one and fixed everything that cook started, he was right right be mad at him. I do think he could've treated jj better but cook deserved it.

At the club when JJ gave Cook his medicine coz he was angry Cook was about to get worked by like 5 dudes Freddie jumped in and pulled him to safety just like he did with that gangster that wanted to kill him on his birthday... didn't ever make JJ feel like his 'spastic mate' which Cook literally whispered under his breath when he didn't think he was still on the line and could hear.. sorry if I appear triggered im just seeing so much unwarranted hate in these comments for a character I love.
YhMitchell Freddie was very parent like with JJ and revered him as a child to look after but he didn’t respect his opinions much. Cook was reckless with JJ and a bad influence but he could empathize with JJs feelings of being an outcast. They both were bad and good friends at once in different ways. I think that’s why they were so well written.
