Hi Sarah I love John Jakes Books. I have read some of them and I too watch the Series long time ago. I loved it. All of these books do sound good. Take Care & Happy Reading ❤️🤗🔰❤️
John Jakes is a great historical fiction writer. If you can get his Kent Family Chronicles you will love it. It starts with the book The Bastard, set in the French Revolution.
The giver of stars by JoJo Moyes, a gentleman in Moscow and rules of civility by Amor Towles, the secret life of bees and the invention of wings by Sue Monk kidd, horse by Geraldine Brooks
The Gown was wonderful. But there is a definite trigger warning people need to check out. I had an inkling what was about to happen, but kept reading the chapter assuming this book would not “go there”. I should have followed my instincts and skipped that chapter. It would not have decreased my enjoyment of this fantastic story. I need to read Amy Harmon’s works. The Oregon Trail sounds like a fantastic bit of American history that I need to catch up with. Thank you for the fabulous reviews. I need to read all of these!
Question, since you work for a bookstore…I’ve been trying to find a historical fiction around the woman’s suffrage movement. I found an article that listed some but the most promising ones reviews said it was just a backdrop. With all the historical fiction out there promoting strong women I’m going a little nuts not being able to find a book with women who fought during this time. Have you ever come across one?
Great question! One that I have heard is set around women’s suffrage is The Lions of Fifth Avenue by Fiona Davis. I also just found this article that highlights some options. Hope this helps! www.nypl.org/blog/2020/08/19/womens-suffrage-fiction

so many good recommendations here. I need to move 'The Gown' further up my TBR list - have you read 'Coronation Year' too?
I’ve read all of these except for The Gown ( which is on my shelf). All excellent books! Makes me want to reread them!
