    New sub here. That red west Texas dirt looks like around my home town of Sweetwater Texas. Really enjoyed this video. It's the first time I've ever seen a plow that swivels like that. Interesting! I'm sure farmers now days like that GPS!

      @@conleybanman Our 1941 Case VAC has a flip over plow. Manually operated. And is a lot smaller. But then in the hilly SE part of Ohio, we don't have 30 acres of flat land either.

      Very interesting i vaguely remember those flip over plows. They made a huge improvement since then

    Thanks so much for reviewing our plow next to our competitors. It’s always good to have feedback. It helps us to constantly improve.
    I think the reason you may be feeling more pull on the FIM (formerly Fehrs) plow is due to the fact that we use a solid 8”x8” 1/2” thick steel tube center beam as opposed to their welded, 5/16” thick bent-metal spine. We believe this is worth the additional weight to make it more solid and durable. We’d love to have more feedback and get your thoughts as a working farmer in our neighborhood. :) Thanks again for your review!

    • @conleybanman
      @conleybanman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely I love to help. I do have one thought that I would change on your plow. The adjustable arm on the rear tire to adjust the depth in the back come loose once in a while and starts adjusting itself. But thanks for your comment it’s great to know a little bit more about the machinery we use.

    • @FIMTX
      @FIMTX 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@conleybanman I’m sorry to hear your having trouble with the rear adjustment arm. I have already passed this information on to our team and we will take a look.
      Now that you mention it, one other difference between the two plows is the tire itself. We use an 11” width of tire on our plow as opposed to the 6” tires on the competitors’ plows. We have heard that this helps significantly with achieving more float on top of the soil for better depth accuracy as opposed to cutting down into the soil with a narrower tire.
      Our goal is to provide a quality tool that will last and is made right here in the Great State of Texas. It’s farmers like you that help us to continue to improve. We love our farmers!

    • @conleybanman
      @conleybanman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yea the larger tire makes a huge difference I have definitely noticed that especially in softer soil. And I’m happy to help make a great plow even better 😁 😅

    I have never seen ploughs like those before, but however I think that those ploughs are a lot better than our reversible ploughs that we have here in Europe, because our reversible ploughs carry a lot more weight because of how they are configured with the standard format for the bottom set and then the other way for the return trip back up the field, now those ploughs that you and your colleague were using are a much better item as they don’t have to be rotated around after each pass, of course you still use the hydraulics to move the plough but it’s on a more simpler pivot which means you don’t have to worry about a top heavy load when you have reached each end of the furrow, anyway I have enjoyed watching this film and I really like 👍 that sort of plough.

    This reminds me of North Dakota. When I was in the USAF, I got stationed at Finley AFS, ND. My so call friends said "Great News there is a Girl Behind Every Tree in North Dakota". I just completed technical school and this was my first assignment. After about 6 months, I said "Where is that tree you were talking about"? BTW...after that assignment I got stationed in Thailand for a year...then restationed at Fortuna AFS, North Dakota. I was so happy to get out of the military.

These are volcanic deposits made over 100's of thousands of years. Texas is blessed with many productive soils on its nearly billion acres of farms.

    I didn't know anyone still plowed fields in the states. Is this common in your area?

      Only for land that is being put to peanut ground for the following year. Around here it’s mainly cotton and peanuts and it seems like with the cotton prices being the way they are everyone is plowing in our area gettin ready to plant lots of peanuts
