- The play-off race in the EFL Championship is still absolutely wide open! From Coventry City in fifth all the way down to Swansea City in 12th, anybody could find their way into the end of season knockout games. Sunderland sneaked into the top six with a significant win at West Brom this weekend, while Blackburn Rovers gave up a late goal to draw with rivals Preston North End. Millwall and Norwich City were probably the big losers of the round, going under to Wigan and Swansea!

As a Coventry fan, we're all amazed at the job Robins has done, we were bottom of the league around Oct time and have not only lost our talisman in O'hare, but his stand in, in Palmer, but also Allen who had to step up to replace Palmer once he was injured too.
Honestly, it's just nice to have been invited to the play off runs as we've had such a torrid time over the last 15 years.
Every game is a cup tie now for us and I don't think I can take much more of it, especially after [super] Ben Wilson's goal at Blackburn.
We'll do you a favour tomorrow night thrashing them before they play their last 2 matches against Millwall & Luton 😂
@@james.3352 I honestly hope you will. Burnley have been utterly fantastic all season and well deserve to clinch the champion spot before the end of the season.
Side note, McNally has been utterly brilliant for us since he came on loan, thank you to Burnley :D.

I know who deserves a place, Sunderland, manager deserts them at the start of the season then they lose their striker a superb striker in Stewart and have some awful luck with injuries to key players.
As a Norwich fan, even if we won our last two games and got in by a miracle, we should still probably do the right thing and give that spot to someone else more deserving, based on comparative resources!
We need a massive rebuild top to bottom, and it's been humbling to see other, smaller sides well managed and working so hard.
Given Coventry's woes in recent years, that would be a lovely story.
Sunderland and their fans are always a credit, so hope they do it.
Millwall have done a remarkable job and they have improved their attacking style.
Preston, after so many years of disappointment, are another side worthy of huge praise.
Swansea one of the best sides to come to Norwich this season, and been in a false position for ages.
Blackburn have some great talent, but I was surprised Norwich went to Ewood and beat them like we did.
West Brom certainly have turned the tide, but I hope it's time for new teams to contest the play-offs.
From what I have seen, only Burnley look capable of seriously challenging in the Premier (especially if Boro win the play-offs but lost their loan stars).
It's been a poor season for me in the Championship, with real lack of quality present in so many games, but boy is it competitive as ever.
That's a great thing.
So Benjamin, are Ipswich finishing above Norwich next year? 😂 Either way, should be a far more competitive derby than recent times and most canaries would want that, rather than fear it.
And Luton...how painful it is to watch Morris bang them in for you and not Norwich. I loved him when he helped win the FA Youth Cup.
Hatters surely most people's second team now, hope they pull of a miracle by reaching the promised land.
Primarily to see the look on fans faces going to away matches.. would be in for a shock and a bloody good contest.
Look at Sunderland, they play with no fear or respect for anyone, these kids that play for them are a breath of fresh air, proves good coaching and good scouting pay off,football is not just cheque books .

Middlesbrough fan here, I’m fancying Coventry to get in and I think our friends up the road in Sunderland might just scrape in.....The dark horse is definitely Swansea who are flying at the moment and I wouldn’t be shocked if they somehow managed to sneak in. Either way it’s going to be interesting and certainly fun watching it all unfold. Gotta love the championship
As a Boro fan, it’s nice to watch this knowing that we are already confirmed in the playoffs as I know it’s an awful feeling if you just miss out on them. It’s also mad to think we may end up playing Coventry 3 times in a row if we get them in playoffs as we have them on final day to. Good luck to the 8 teams chasing 5th and 6th!

thanks, we have sold about 45,000 tickets already for Saturday's match against Watford, there will be some atmosphere there.

As a Sunderland fan, I'm way moe worried about Watford at home than Preston away.

Sunderlands home game Vs Watford might look favourable but Sunderland are really poor at home, only 1 win in last 7 home games.

As a Swansea fan, you never know on the day but we have to win both of our games while the others above us need to mess up in their games. Realistically it looks more of an impossible task but it doesn’t stop me from believing though.
Ps: We managed to overturn a five goal swing over Forest 3 years ago which actually turned into a six goal swing! 👀

I think if we beat Birmingham and that’s a big if bearing in mind it’s a local derby and results go our way then there won’t be much pressure on the middlesborough game but football is a funny game. Pusb

We are doing ok if it wasnt or the start of the season and not concentrating in injury time we would be there
I did some calculations after watching Sunday's game based on form and gut feeling and came away with the following permutation. Positions based on current GD and league position
12th - Norwich on 63 (losing to WBA and drawing with Blackpool)
11th - Preston on 64 (losing to Sheff U and drawing with Sunderland)
10th - Swansea on 66 (beating Hull and drawing with WBA)
9th - WBA on 67 (losing to Sheff U; beating Norwich and drawing with Swansea)
8th - Blackburn on 69 (drawing with Burnley; beating Luton and losing to Millwall)
7th - Millwall on 69 (Drawing with Blackpool and beating Blackburn)
6th - Sunderland on 69 (beating Watford and drawing at Preston) and
5th - Coventry on 69 (Beating Birmingham and losing to Middlesbrough
So 4 teams tied on 69 points with only goal difference separating them and half of them making the play-offs.
Potentially it would be Luton against Sunderland and Middlesbrough against Coventry which MIGHT lead to an all North East final
As far as GD goes (currently) Coventry and Sunderland have +10 - WBA have +8 - Millwall +7 so obviously if the results do go the way I reckon then the scores will affect their respective GD's.
Mind you I also thought Luton and Middlesbrough would draw and Luton wound up winning so what the hell do I know lol.
At the bottom I place Blackpool on 43; Reading on 44 and Wigan on 46 for the drop with Cardiff and Wigan both on 47 and Huddersfield on 48.

Preston playing a newly promoted Sheffield United on Saturday may swing that game in their favour, depending on how they set up and how many night-outs they've been on since Wednesday. If they manage 3 points against Sheffield, I'd back them to sneak into 6th. Most of the other games look likely to be draws. Coventry 5th, Preston 6th for me.
It's nice that it's going to last two games for most teams in all leagues except Burnley and leyton orient who are up fans are getting their money worth this season 🚜🚜🚜🚜🔵⚪️

Any given game against Blackburn is always the biggest game for Burnley FC, but tomorrows game is going to be the ultimate fixture for both clubs, but I'm hoping on hope Burnley come out on top and clinch the title 😁 💞 😘

If Sunderland weren’t so bad at home they would easily have play offs,
Millwall have lost the best ever chance to make the playoffs. We have thrown it away. We have had the easiest run in. But has it been when Millwall seem to play better against teams above them. Millwall obviously need to beat Blackpool and need to beat Blackburn in front of a sell out Den. Seems no one wants this 5th or 6th place.
Blackburn haven't exactly been lucky in their two lastest games but I can see them getting something against Burnley this coming Tuesday. That'll be like a cup tie for them, as will the away trip to Millwall on the final day. My money's on Coventry and Sunderland though.
Nah m8 we are well prepared for them , there's no bigger game and they're running scared. Even gave us crappie ticket allocation so we didn't take over their ground. Its so funny as when I watch them on TV their supporters don't even have their own songs or chants they just sing Burnley songs. The problem with Sunderland is their back line. It’s a total makeshift with so many injuries. I am Australian expat that is praying they can scrape into the play-offs because I don’t think any team at the moment wants to play Sunderland.

Luton still flying even now. Thing is, when it comes to a playoff and then Wembley, it becomes a different competition. Us (Millwall), well, we just have to win the last two and hope for the best. Every team has a chance. Just can’t call it.

If we (Millwall) win our last 2 games, I think we will make it. The thing is though, I don’t think we will win both! We only have ourselves to blame, occupied a top six place pretty much all season and with the run in we’ve had, you would’ve expected us to cement that play off place. Sadly we have been woeful during the last 7 games, even the game we won against Preston wasn’t particularly convincing or impressive. The performance at Wigan at the weekend was disgraceful. I’m not confident about our trip to Blackpool on Friday night if we keep playing like we have in recent games!
Before we get too carried away with Swansea let’s consider your comments about Preston a few weeks ago. 4 wins out of 5, but lost 3 out of 4. All their wins were against teams in the lower region. Now we have Swansea. 6 wins out of 7. Apart from Norwich (in free fall) all against teams in lower region. Not serious contenders but may do damage to others

It wasn’t to be and you put us to to sword and made us pay for earlier missed chances but not sure how you can say it was anti football, we carved out just as many shots on target as you did and had nearly double the attempts at goal than you did. Explain to me how’s that equates to ‘anti- football’ if you want to get into it?
I don’t mind criticism and I’m fully aware that Millwall aren’t as easy on the eye as some but it doesn’t mean we’re toxic because we don’t play out from the back and make 48 passes before we have a shot at goal. There are different ways to be affective in football.

It's a mugs game trying to predict this, there's too many variables. WBA and Blackburn winning their games in hand puts them both in great positions, but they've proven they can both slip up and they're against the top 2. I think Millwall are out of it and Coventry will just fall short, I'm going with WBA and Sunderland to clinch 5th and 6th.
Wba lost tonight at Sheff Utd so Preston are going to slip in.
Norwich are in relegation form, won’t feel right to take a position from a team more deserving.
