It's probably the most confusing mistranslation I've ever seen in anime but Miyamura didn't actually return the confession, he took Hori's fumbled hand comment at face value and said the same back to her. It's baffling to me that whoever translated this could interpret it how they did and immediately follow it with Miyamura saying she doesn't like him like that and they somehow didn't think to go back and make it line up 😕
6:30 In the manga it is more obvious that Souta is going out to leave them alone. IIRC, at one point we see him sitting in the park waiting for time to pass. We also see him talking with his future childhood friend.
11:15 "I'm pretty sure that I lost." He's referring to not only the fist fight, but also to the contest for Kyoko. The saddest thing for him is that he was so close to Kyoko that if he would have had the courage to make his move before it was too late they probably would have started dating.
Yeah the "I love you" is kinda off translated? With the way Japanese works both of them said "I love..." and if you don't put an indication behind you'd usually refer to the person you're talking too, Hori corrected herself to saying "... your hands" changing the object of the sentence last minute and Miyamura went with that as well. It also doesn't help that "suki" the verb used both translates to love and like (working just like the english "like"). This is important otherwise the whole fight with Ishikawa makes 0 sense. Why would Miyamura keep insisting that Hori sees him as a friend when she literally said I love you before?
Don't worry horimiya is gona have a new anime adaptation this year June/july it will animate the stuff that was cut off from this adaptation as what you are watching is a remake of the old horimiya and now they gona have a complete adaptation this year with all the manga adapted.
