We appreciate crafty ideas like this because they make wonderful projects that we can accomplish with our young troops. It will be fun to experiment with different "fillings" to see what works best at repelling mosquitoes. That is important here in the tropics because certain varieties carry bad things like malaria and dengue fever. Thank you for posting this construction video and to Dave Canterbury who inspired you.

I'm going to try using some of the tallow I render down from brisket trim. Each time I smoke one, normally get a qt or more. Cheap and interesting project. Thanks Jake.

You just made a heater for your poncho. I use it all the time hunting. Toasty warm scent free.

FYI. It is easier to fill your candle if you melt the lard and pour it in. Nice video . Hang in there because you are doing fine.👍

You are learning from the best at the Pathfinder School Jake! Dave, Shawn, & Matt are top notch! Could also light the wick with ferro rod if lighter isn’t available now that it’s charred. Appreciate your content.

Pretty cool and simple. Catching up on videos and came across this- now that I watched it, of course; I need to make one. Ive made some simple candle lamps from left over cooking oil in a mason jar with a hole drilled in center of the lid and works good. Going to try this out now- Thanks and be safe out there- getting chilly down here in WV-

He had me 'till he pulled out the tub lard. I have powerful l.e.d. re-chargeable lamps smaller than that tub lard. I guess the advantage to the lard is you can eat it if you run out of food.

if you go and buy lard you can also go and buy candles.
syr, but at this point the hole video beconmes useless because you bystep the IMPORTANT steps to make a candle in bushcraft if you buy the ingrediments!
